Even Pak batsman batted ok in england vs Aus.....

Aus will loss this series.. Mark my words.

Can anyone on planet earth please explain the logic of leaving out Doug Bollinger? Why would you get rid of your best bowler? Mitchell Johnson has been way off form for the past year, whilst Hillfenhaus and Siddle are returning from injury. To add to this, Doherty is one of the worst specialist spinners to ever play. Where is the logic?

HAHAAHA What a joke this team has become.. never thought Aus will be as poor..

Aus commentators crying. :))

I reckon England will look to get lead of 300+ and give Australia around three hours of play.

He is as poor as Sami..

Never rated Michell J maybe I need some different glasses to see what Ponting sees in him?

Bollinger is the only bowler I rate in this Aus team.

218 in 2 sessions is a RRR of 3.3. England won't risk it. They won't go for the win, they will post a lead of 300 and give us a session and a half to get it, and try to take as many top order wickets as they can to take momentum going into Adelaide.

Aus need bowler like Lee..

Lee was 2 times better test bowler the M Johnson ! Aus forced Lee to retire by not selecting him........

I wouldn't say he is as bad as Sami - there is a gulf between their records. Johnson did have a period where he was on fire, with ball and bat. But he has been nothing short of rubbish recently. At first, it was thought that he only bowls well in Australia, but now it is becoming clear he is just woefully out of form.

Well to be fair it's not like England are going to win the game either. OZ did score 481 in the first innings and got England out for 260. Bat just happens to have dominated ball in the latter part of this match. The bowling has been very ordinary in England's second dig, Ponting's tactics have been unimaginative and the fielding has been poor.

England have a real chance here, they CANNOT blow this opportunity.

Aussies are mentally shot, get them in...make another 40 odd and stick 'em in.

cricinfo:Andrew (not Miller or McGlashan, I should add) has an explanation "This is all part of the aussies master plan. Tire out the opening batsman for adelaide by making them compile run after run in Brisbane before letting them face Bollinger and Harris in Adelaide who then rip right into them and have them out cheaply." Ah! So that's what they're doing, cunning fellows.

LMAO !!

Why settle for a river when you've already formed your own small ocean in the Dar/UDRS thread? :asif

Oh I'm well over that now, unlike the tards on here with their grudge against batsmen who favour substance over style.

I would be absolutely surprised if Dougie Bollinger is once again ignored for 2nd test...it was shocking to not see him in 1st test as he's been the best bowler for Australia in last 1 yr or so...

439/1 :)))

The Aussies are pathetic.

A declaration sounds tempting...

MJ needs to go away and play for WA in Shield cricket. Test cricket is no place for someone to figure out how to fix their action and to get their confidence back. Particularly in Adelaide, that graveyard for bowlers out of form.

Strauss should grow a pair and declare (unintentional rhyme). Even though England will retain the Ashes with 5 draws, he needs to be less conservative as captain if he wants to build an WI/Aus level great team.

BBC Twitter feed:

"This is the kind of ridiculous scorecard I used to get when I put Brian Lara Cricket on easy mode."

:))) :))) :)))

pitch is playing tricks, there were at least 4 or 5 genuine edges that would have been caught if Punter had a proper field setting.

it's England's game to win!

Chef and Trottski should come out and bosh it, and there should be a declaration. with 50 overs to go. if Australia attack and look like they might achieve the 5.5 run rate, we can always just hide behind a negative leg stump line in the evening. but I agree, there's a chance of winning here.

Bollinger, Hilfenhaus, Siddle, Doherty, Smith, and Harris as "allrounder"

drop that useless Johnson, he's almost as bad as Harmy

Glad I missed that first session.

Let's see if England have any bottle and go for longshot win.

Despite the scorecard, England missed a trick yesterday imo. They have the luxary of having 'declaration players', they should have sent their attacking bats in once Strauss had gone. Lead was virtually erased so have Pietersen at 3 (tell him to play an ODI, might get him in some free flowing form), Prior and 4 (is usually good at setting up a pacey partnership) and Swann at 5 (who is only a good batsman when he attacks). Could have had 150+ lead starting today with Cook, Trott, Bell and Collingwood as 'insurance players'.

let's hope Strauss doesn't stay true to form and make it a draw.

Ashes to Ashes, Dust to Dust

If Straussy don't get you, Trotty must

Bollinger was not considered to be match fit. He didn't miss out on form.

Actually Lee was worse than Johnson. Johnson has the better record, Lee had the better publicists.

Commentators are speechless now so now having conversations about Monopoly, Scrabble, phones and all sorts hahaha

Mitchell bowling a perfect outside legstump line...wonderful accuracy.

don't think England are looking to get a move on, Trott is playing even more slowly!

why don't the english declare? seriously move the game along....

and OZZZZZies what the F is this pitch...please explain?

Pakistan has played Australia 14 times in the last 12 months and look at what they have become....

Johnson = Sami
Ponting = Moyo - Captaincy wise
Xavier = Kaneria
Clark = Misbah

Nothing wrong with the pitch, half a dozen chances flew through slips/gully in the first hour but Clarke dropped them or Ponting didn't have any catchers there.

Balls have turned square off the rough, zipped off cracks but Punter has no catchers in. Definately possible to take wickets on it, ball still moving on day 5 but bowling and captaincy and fielding have been poor.

Could this be out? Looks hard and Dubya's body language is very subdued.

Well hopefully it's out so England can get a move on and we can be put in to bat

Pretty similar to Hussey's catch of Akmal, looks dodgy on camera but the fieldsman probably feels or has his finger under the ball.
