What's new

West Indies v Australia | 1st test | Kingston, Jamaica | starting from May 22nd 2008

Collapso Cricket is Back !

Poor shot selection from the Windians.

What were they thinking ?

86.4 Lee to Ramdin, OUT, Ramdin combusts spontaneously on arrival. Full, outside off and Ramdin goes for a rather ambitious, expansive drive.

87.3 Johnson to Sammy, OUT, poor shot there. pitched on leg and over-pitched, Sammy flicked it straight to Jaques at midwicket who squatted to take the catch

84.3 Lee to Bravo, OUT, Bravo falls after an attractive 40 something. The story of his life. It was full, outside off and he went for a big booming cover drive. Caught at slips. Ponting is ecstatic as he rushes towards the bowler.

62.3 MacGill to Morton, OUT, MacGill removes Morton five minutes before lunch. It was flighted from round the stumps, full and on the middle stump line, Morton cleared his front leg and swung it across but couldn't clear mid-on and Clarke moved to his right and dived to hold a very good catch. Lunch is just five minutes away. What has Morton done?

Windies were almost in a strong position for a draw ... and draw against Australia is pretty much a win for them.

But alas ... they threw it all away.

Lee to Powell. Bowled by inswinging yorker
Wii 268-8 - trail by 163 runs

90.5 Lee to Powell, OUT, What a searing crashing reverse swinging yorker. Too good for the tailender. Whooshes past the bat. It started from outside off, moved in late with the shiny side, Powell takes out the left leg from the line but can't get his bat down in time.
DBL Powell b Lee 3 (17b 0x4 0x6) SR: 17.64

Lee almost had Edwards. Beats him and ball probably an inch away from off stump

Why is Chanders giving so much of the strike to the tailenders ? Baffling !

and that's tea for today ...

i can see australia leading by around 400 before declaring at team tomorrow.

Aussies havent been at their best in this test but look way too good for this rather mediocre Windies team.

I guess the Aussies will only get better as this series progresses which must be a worry for the home team.

Disappointing stuff from the Windies - they don't seem to be able to string together good sessions. They'll have one good session and then throw it away in the next. You can only blame so much on poor technique - ultimately this comes down to concentration and the willingness to apply oneself. Too many of these West Indian players lack that desire.

wth is chandu doing

netiher taking singles nor is he going for shots

wats he waiting for?

Ouch ! Chanders has been floored by a quick bouncer from Lee

Made a horrible sound as it hit his helmet.

This is not looking good for Chanderpaul.

94.6 Lee to Chanderpaul, no run, Lee bangs in the bouncer, Chanderpaul ducks, the ball keeps low and hits him on the helmet, he is down in pain, ohhh that is nasty, the players all around him, this seems to be something serious, the stretcher has come out as well

come on chandu

fight it

can some one please describe what happened? Cricinfo says that he totally collapsed on the pitch.

well the radio commentary said he was flat on his back after the blow

but was fortunate not to be down for too long

this is holly/bolly/lollywood stuff
Clark to Chanderpaul, 2 runs, That's it. Chanders has got his hundred. Courage under fire. He drove a full delivery straight past the bowler. The helmet comes off, the bat is held aloft and you should hear the crowd; they are delirious. His wife is beaming out there. Edwards gets across to congratulate. Well done sir. He was hit on the back of the head by a Lee bouncer, fell down and laid there motionless for couple of minutes. His wife was seen crying and slowly he stirred, got up, got attention and now has reached his ton.

WI bowled out for 312 giving AUS a lead of 119.

Seems like Shiv will have to play a similar innings in the 2nd dig to save the test match for the WI.

Yes. Bravo, Ramdin and Sammy needed to hold out for longer for there to be a realistic chance of a draw. Now the Aussies will just pile the runs tomorrow before dismissing WI on the final day.
