yes very inconsistent :19:
Really missing Taylor. That's a big, big blow. He's one of the better young bowlers in world cricket.

I like what Sammy's doing here. If he keeps at it, he'll pick up a wicket, or maybe force one from the other end.

yes they need to be patient and stick to bowling on that off stump

Ponting looking good for a hundred here. Hopefully he can get six more and make that Test hundreds record his own!

This is why Hussey's so good; just biding his time, seeing off a an accurate spell by Sammy and playing himself in in the process.

Yar,

Any Web LINK for this Australia/WI match?

i tell you they want to bat till the next session because they have a very good attack against a fragile opposition batting :19:

That was out, Sammy had his man. That's why it's so tough as a bowler; you work and work and when you finally get through, it isn't given.

87/2 i would say slightly in favour of the aussis . but a steady bowling performance for the windies. but they have lots to do after lunch

Ponting 44 - Hussey 16
Aus 87-2 after 25 overs @ 3.48 an over
Lunch time
overs remaining today 68 <--- doesn't look right should be 65 to make it 90

hows the stadium??
the radio people are chatting with people at ground. One woman is saying she went to the bathroom and there was no toilet paper and soap. You have to bring your own tissue

2/109 after 33 overs, Ponting on 57 Hussey 25. Decent recovery in progress.

Jaggernaut (offspinner) is on for the first time - making debut
Australia 109/2 (33 ov) @ 3.3 an over

just wondering .. what happened to collymore ?

and is taylor expected back soon ?

Hussey 50 off 133 :111:
Australia 161/2 (46.3 ov) @ 3.46
Hussey 50* - Ponting 82*
Min overs remaining 53.3

Asim from USA: "Its amazing and refreshing to see how patiently Hussey is batting.
No one who is watching him bat so patiently would believe that he scored a century in less than 50 balls about 2-3 weeks ago.
Thats transition for you,Australians show it again that they are Masters of all trades." - cricinfo

Hussey's patience is remarkable though.

Hussey out ct brilliantly by Bravo off Jaggernaut
Aus 174-3 after 50 overs
Ponting batting on 89

49.6 Jaggernauth to Hussey, OUT, Jaggie gets his first Test wicket! Bravo takes a sharp catch but again he was moving even as the bowler released. This time he moved to his left and Hussey jabbed at a flighted delivery that turned a little. It flew off the outside edge and Bravo stopped his movement and dived to his right to take a very sharp catch. Jaggernauth must be feeling a lot better now. A lovely little moment for him. First Test wicket.

MEK Hussey c Bravo b Jaggernauth 56 (146b 6x4 0x6) SR: 38.35

only 50 more needed :P

i don't see windies crossing more than 300 very often in this series.

i predict their average innings score will be between 200-250.

after such a long time Ponting is playing such a meaningful innings..that's great to see...touch the average 59.05..good job ponting...bash these MINNOW'S ;) lol bout jagguarnaut or whatever his name is...kinda funny...

189/3 Ponting is on 96 and Hodge is 8 at Tea...btw..Hodge is averaging a healthy averaging 59.50 in test...nice

Fourth in tonight's list of Mavericks is Sylvester Clarke. Ranked 14th in the Wisden Cricketer list. Paul Coupar writes: "Took intimadatory bowling as far as any one in history barring perhaps Roy Gilchrist. Many good judges say Clarke relished hitting batsmen and he cast a pall of dread over the county circuit of the 1980s. Middlesex even disguised one of their players as a video cameraman and pretended to film Clarke's action, which many thought ragged at top speed. To the batsmen's relief he temporarily slowed down. Equally predictably he many years later greeted the "cameraman" with a inswinging 90mph beamer. Played 11 Tests for West Indies before hitting a spectator in Pakistan with a brick."
-------
Not sure what this ranking is "Ranked 14th in the Wisden Cricketer list" if Clarke only played 11 tests. He must have played a lot of county games then

Ponting 100 - his 35th :123:
Aus 199-3 after 55.1 overs @ 3.56
Ponting 100 (137)- Hodge 12

WI team sure is taking time to bowl. They are probably 8-10 overs behind

Ponting 123 (157) - Hodge 23 (42)
Aus 231 - 3 after 63 overs @ 3.66
overs remaining 27 but it is 3:44 pm now and close of play is scheduled for 5:00 pm

Well done Punter!

I think Ponting is going to finish his career with the highest number of centuries in test cricket.

I've also enjoyed watching this test match so far. Makes a change from the IPL and a good one at that.

a slow first day for the ozzies ... i'd expect them to score a bit more against this weak attack.

yeah Hussey batted very slow today.
WI would already be thinking of a draw rather than a win.

76.1 Bravo to Ponting, no run, loud shout for lbw but Ponting was struck just outside off stump. It came in from outside off, Ponting lunged across to defend

ALMOST!

Ponting looking for his "city momement of success" reaches 150 :92:
Australia 277-3 after 77.3 overs @ 3.57
Ponting 151 off 201 - Hodge 40 off 84

hmmm...what the heck is that?

You hear it in IPL and it is annoying. Part of their advertiszing and marketing :)
When someone does well, like Warne took a brilliant catch and the commentator might say "That might be his Citi moment of success" - I remember someone saying it was not City but Citi (sponsored by Citi bank)

yeah it kind of sounds IPLish!

Bravo is bowling a good spell. There may not be a NEED for a second new ball tonight.

Stodge survives again
Bravo to Hodge, no run, another lbw shout, again Tiffin turns it down. Hodge is struggling a touch against Bravo who is reversing the delveries. This one was perhaps a tad high. It shaped in from the off stump, Hodge was caught at the crease and struck on the pad. Going over the leg stump.
