I missed that but the opening burst was just what test cricket is all about.

...and they said test cricket is boring; who needs coloured clothing, cheeleaders, short boundaries etc. to have classic entertainment.

Only INDIANS need short boundaries, cheerleaders (although only those which are white like the majority of the Indian nation) etc. to have entertainment. Rest of the world still loves Test cricket and the entertainment it gives, it appreciates the game and not the side things unlike Indians

:D No seriously mate, I was just replying to the post where it said "they said Test cricket is boring, needs cheerleaders etc."...fact is that no where except India have they resorted to such gimmicks to attract fans

Anyways back to the game...what sort of score do we think WI can chase in 4th innings? Methinks no more than 250 and even that will be difficult.

which indian on this site said test cricket is borinG??

the only reason i watch IPL is bcz i want to see the next generation of indian superstars like dhwan, mishra, gony, etc
i never get the chance to watch domestic matches so i watch IPL

when india tours sl in august, who will remember IPL?

250 should be a good score and it would make for a fascinating final day !

It certainly would!

Interestingly WI recently chased 250 against Lanka to win at Port of Spain I think it was. Lanka doesn't have fast bowlers as good as Australia's, though Vaas is good, but MacGill is not in the same class as Murali.

i reckon edwards will run all over ussies trw and they will be bundled out around 70ish

I think if the game had continued today there might have been a chance of this. But now the WI will have lost that momentum and the buzz of the Sabina crowd and will have to start afresh tomorrow.

I am sure many people will turn out to watch the last two days of cricket so the buzz of the crowd will still be there.

Windies are famous for being hot one day & too cold the other. If they want to make a match of it then have to come all guns blazing tomorrow morning. A couple of wickets and they'll be bowling at the Aussie tail.

This is there best chance to win a test as Clarke & Haydos are likely to return from 2nd test onwards.

That's true mate, what I meant to say was that the crowd had become really worked up after the quick wickets...it was a spontaneous reaction to the sudden burst of energy in the game.

Tomorrow morning the crowd will definitely be there and it will be excited, but that really frenetic buzz cannot be generated just like that.

I just got up and looked at the score - 17/4? :|

Katich :12:

Jaques :12:

The last 10 wickets have fallen for 60 runs in this game, hopefully the lead will be enough but real chance of Oz losing this game. Credit to the Windians, they are finally getting better it seems.

Question

Are Aussies gonna lodge a complaint about the crumbling pitch ?

Oh wait! This is a true sporting pitch :13:

woow imagine the bowling attack of taylor, edwards, and jaggernauth(not proven yet) :D

windies cricket is back it seems and just in time to revive test cricket not that it needed to be revived

wow what a match its turning out to be. just hope the windies crush into the aussies defence to make the match all the more interesting. Go Go Windies:)

wow i did not know that there were so many west indian fans :D

or is it mor like antiaussie? :20:

anyways glad to share my joys with you...what a match this is turning out to be. :14:

windies were down but certainly not out, :19: everyone including me thought it would have been a one sided affair :9:

looking forward for jaggie to get among the wickets :19:

250 or so is a managable targetanything over 300 will give the advantage to the aussies.....
but this game is so delicately poised anything can happen :11:

ipl ..20/20....make way for the real classic TEST MATCH AT ITS BEST :21:

I'm neither. I just love it when the underdog has a chance for an upset. (except a certain match earlier this year in the world cup haha)

Aussies not gonna lose this one, guaranteed. If Aussies manage to get overall lead of around 250+. WI is bound to collapse vs Clark + Lee combo.

Not that I want WI to lose, but aussies are WC for a reason :P

Bit of both for me!

I have seen WI dominate every single team in the world and its a real shame that they don't have a good team any more so i want to see them do well again.

AUS on the other hand have been by far the best team of the last 10 years so i want them to lose now.

Put it this way if this match was being played in 1993 instead of 2008 then i would have been rooting for AUS.

Remember guys...west indies beat the best team in the world just recently in a test match ....south africa. Shoudl be no surprise if they beat Australia .

This is the same "best team in the world" that lost in India inside three days recently?

But the remaining of two test matches will be won by Australia to claim the test series ever ! :|

No team has defeated Australia in the whole series, but won a few test, and failed to win the whole series. If not South Africa, then i forsee Pakistan to win the test series against Australia.

I may be exaggerating, according to you guys, but Asif was alone good enough to almost dominate South Africa in SA. What make me wonder, if there are few bowlers to support Asif, Pakistan will remain the strong force and look unbeatable like Pakistan was under Wasim captaincy.

What worries me is umpiring issues that cost Pakistan in Australia 2000 and before that, in West Indies thank to the same black umpire (not Bucknor) deliberately cost Pakistan to lose :12:

The question is " If Pakistan tour in Australia, will Pakistan or not receive poor umpiring against Australia" ? :|

The current Pakistan side would struggle to beat NZ let alone Australia.
The batting is mediocre in tests.

I didn't say now, but give Pakistan two years. Pakistan would be strong force by now. Just because we have new team, filled with new players, but that doesn't mean we can't win. It's performance that win you matches. With likes of Tanvir, Gul and there are more, i can see them rocking against the world in about two years. In about one or two years, Pakistan would be touring in Australia as strong force. Pakistan team performance was surprisingly in WC T20. That's why Pakistan is always unpredictable team :D

Pakistan tours of Australia always follow the same script - batting collapse in first Test, get belted. Better in second test. Either win or go very close the third test.

However in previous tours, Pakistan always had at least 1 and usually 2 or 3 match winners - who do you have now?

YEA i think the same, i more than likely root for the underdogs

in games against the best teams :P

I hope W.I can knock over Aus before lead gets over 250 and then its game on.

I hope W.I win this match it would set up series nicely!

Play starts in 30 minutes

Big day for WI and indeed world cricket this

If the WI can cash in on this position and somehow steal a victory it will be an even bigger achievement than their win in South Africa. Even if they don't win but do well for the rest of the game it will be a major thing

It could also mean the beginning of WI becoming a competitive side again, so 8 good teams as opposed to 7 for Test cricket

Very very exciting day! Just hope the Windies don’t lay back and wait for something to happen if a partnership starts to build. They should attack and go to Australia's neck straight from the word go!

Here we go, day 4 to commence!

Powell to Hodge, quick single to gets things started off

surely not................

Could the miraculous happen here ?

Somehow I think the Aussies will steamroller the Windies batting lineup in the 2nd innings.

10.5 Powell to Johnson, OUT, They are ambushing all right. Powell takes out Johnson. It was on a length, tad wide outside off stump and Johnson went for a waft and nicked a easy catch to Ramdin who flung the ball high in the air. What a start for West Indies.
MG Johnson c Ramdin b Powell 4 (13b 1x4 0x6) SR: 30.76
