1st Test, Lord's : England beat New Zealand by 124 runs

Geoffrey Boycott on radio talking about NZ spinner "my mum could hit him for 2 Four's an over".

Root gone.Misses out on a century again.

Two tons in two tests for the Cookymonsta! 27 test centuries, the most by an Englishman by some way now. Cook the batsman is back.

Batted Roooooooooot once again - should have had two hundreds at Lord's though.

this iswhere I miss Swann, this game is sort of meandering along. The Swann always made things happen. Won't be surprised by a dull draw here.

I don't understand this tbh. He faced Australia once and this is his first match vs NZ. Are judging him by two matches?

Maybe he'll improve at some point but with the Ashes around the corner I prefer KP

Fantastic batting from Cook, quality hundred against a top bowling attack in testing conditions. Well done. Sad Root missed out yet again

I wonder why New Zealand pick Corey Anderson. He doesn't do much with the bat - not so much that a specialist batsman couldn't match - and due to McCullum's attacking approach the fifth bowler only gets a run if he's a genuine wicket taker, which neither myself nor, evidently, the captain; rate Anderson as. So what's he doing in the side that somebody else couldn't?

Cook is back? Bad news for KP and his entourage. I hope England win against New Zealand and Australia so that when Pakistan whitewashes them, we'll gain more points.

This ongoing match has shown why I never rated Baz that highly as some of PPers make out. The thing is, he captains in a completely different way compare to other captains who are rather defensive.

I remember during the WC, when we played NZ we scored 285 after being 27-2 after 12th over or sort.

The field setting is letting Stokes getting some oppurtunity to play aggressive cricket, 12 boundaries already

Stokes playing like Brian Lara lol, New Zealand have no answer

I'm not his biggest fan but I have to say this is some fighting innings by the England captain.

Tough conditions to bat in early on and he's stuck it out and seen off the shine off the new ball and the two opening bowlers too.

I think what also helped was Root and his good strike-rate.

Eitherway, well done to Cookie.

Congrats Stokes. What a hundred!!! A hundred from a partnership of 128 runs. That's very impressive.

Typical Stokes, whenever he does finally score a hundred he plays the house down - then doesn't score any runs for the next 2 years

Stokes
:hundred

I never rated Stokes much. Couldn't tell Woakes from Stokes or Stokes from Jordan. 140+ guys who can bat around a bit, sharp fielders though. He has been good with the ball (much better than what his stats suggest) and great with the bat. Very fluent under pressure.

Stokes used to bat in the middle order in U19 world Cup and his domestic team. Maybe batting way lower down the order for England made himself believe he's a bowler who bats a bit. Promoting him to No.6 have done a world of good for him and the team.

Magnificent by Stokes. Tim Southee with new new ball in dark conditions under total overcast has been taken to pieces.

An inform cook is great for cricket. Atleast someone can come close to Sachin Tendulkar

nz will definately get another today, maybe eng being bowled out in this region might be good.

£20 a ticket tomorrow, whos going.
