Arsenal FC | 2023/24 Season

Arsenal should sign Serhou Guirassy from Stuttgart. He's top scorer in the Bundesliga with 14 goals already this season and well ahead of Kane, who's second highest goalscorer with 9 goals so far this season.

There's no reason why we shouldn't activate Guirassy's 15m release clause in January.

If he flops it's only 15m. We can get at least 20-25m for Nketiah. @Amjid Javed I admit he's not worth 30m.

We should also buy Ivan Toney as well but we shouldn't pay over the odds for him.

Toney will cost 60M but it will be money well spent, just send nketitah other way to Brentford. Both of Brentford current strikers will be away at Afcons for January, so they will be desperate for a striker.

I think the club should go after neto as well. If it means spending summer funds in Jan so be it

Personally I don't want any German league players.

I certainly want Toney and I agree send Nketiah to Brentford even if it's just for a loan spell. Ideally we should look to cash in on him so we don't have to spend as much on Toney. Ideal scenario would be sign Toney for 40m + Nketiah as a perm. transfer.

Neto is a must buy given that we have no one to give Saka a RW spot.

Going back to Guirassy, I get you don't want any players from the Bundesliga but he's only 15m. I think it's worth a punt.

I think kronkes won't put any funds in Jan, so we may have to sell 1st so players like nketitah, Nelson need to be sold for funds to come in.

Also I'd rather we sign PL proven players rather then an unknown player even if they are cheap.

Arsenal have entered the race for NK Kustosija's 16-year-old striker Dino Klapija. Manchester United, Chelsea, RB Leipzig and Borussia Dortmund have also shown an interest in the teenager, who has represented Croatia and United States at youth level.

Arteta on Kai Havertz as #9:

"Yes, he's one of the candidates as we have different profiles".

"For Kai, the minutes that he’s played, he’s been really good. It’s good and it’s difficult for the opponent as well to figure out who will play".

Captain Halloween-gard dropped as well

Great decision to drop Odegaard. He’s been so poor. It was like watching a ghost against City and Sevilla.

I’m so happy to see ESR start. Hope he has a banger of a game.

But I really wish Ramsdale was starting ahead of Raya. Arteta is favouring his fellow Spaniard.

Tomiyassu should have started as well.

But yeah Arteta has his favourites like crychencko, havertz, nketitah

Only 1-0 up against relegation fodder, this has been poor so far

Isn't there a thread that has your team in it? If not then please go start one.
Sheff utd, Burnley and Luton are 3 of worst teams to be promoted to PL. These are teams we should be smashing and players boosting their goal stats.

Great win for Arsenal and full credit to Nketiah. His first goal was sublime and that 3rd goal to seal his hat-trick was a wonderful long-range effort. I hope he can carry this form in the Carabao Cup against West Ham.

Great to see Tomiyasu get his first goal as well.

Sheffield United are awful.

yes and games like these, when you win 5-0, you improve your goal tally which can make a difference in the end.

Arsenal are prepared to sell England goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale next summer after changing their minds over the 24-year-old's future. (Football Insider)

If this ends up happening this will be the second time in recent years, where we've sold the superior goalkeeper. Last time, it was Martinez, who was much better than Leno.

I would much rather have Ramsdale in goal over Raya. Arteta's favouritism could end up hurting Arsenal here.

Scoring a hat trick against relegation fodder, thats Eddie's level

Funny how you urself nketitah and Jesus aren't good enough 🤡🤡
Nketiah is not a number 1 and never will be, but he is a more than capable number 2 and a better backup striker than anyone in the other top 6 clubs.

Arsenal fans like yourself have long disrespected him and demanded him to be sold in the summer apparently he is trash and not good enough to play for Arsenal.

I hope the hatrick was a nice shut up call but then you have had so many that you are probably immune now.

If Eddie was playing for a bottom half club and wasn’t a Hale End product, fans like you would be wanted Arteta to sign him for £30m to bolster the attack but since he is one of Arsenal’s own, he is disrespected.

He also has more courage and cojones than a Balogun who doesn’t have the stomach for a fight. He ran away from both Arsenal and the England national team because he doesn’t want to fight and prove himself.

He want things to be handed over to him. Harry Kane spent 4 years on loan before getting his break at Spurs and Saliba spent 3 years before breaking into the Arsenal squad.

There are many more examples too.

The solution for Arsenal is very simple. Sell Jesus and sign someone like Toney or Osimhen. Osimhen will be great but he will be too expensive and although most top clubs except perhaps Madrid wouldn’t be looking for a striker next summer, things might change in the coming months and there might be a lot of competition for him.

Toney is a superior goal scorer than both Jesus and Eddie and will bring much needed physicality that both lack.

Jesus is a very cable backup level striker as well. He is very skillful albeit not a potent finisher.

However he is injury prone and he won’t accept a rotatory or a backup role at Arsenal at this stage of his career after warming the bench at City for years.

This is why, he should be for sale next summer and Eddie should stay.

Would the media care so much about Ramsdale losing his spot if he was not english?

As for the match I wanted at least 4. Easy work against the lowest of blocks. Sheff United are awful. Some players got a rest so a good day all round tbh. Nothing much more to add.

More waffling rubbish from as per usual.

Yet another set of bogus and comical comments.

Nketiah scored a hat-trick against relegation fodder. Riess Nelson did the same against a very poor notts forrest team last season. Do you getting over excited again is hilarious.

If Eddie was at man city or Liverpool he wouldn't even be in the squad.

All 5 of Liverpools forwards are miles better then Eddie, so this nonsense that Eddie is better then any other top 6 back ups is hilarious to say the least. Alvarez at City is a better back up then nketitah as well.

Nketitah is a decent player and tries hard, he's build up play is non-existent and is essential just predominantly a inside penalty box poacher. However apart from the man united game last season, nketitah has shown he's not ruthless or clinical enough in bigger games when chances are limited.

Eddie struggled at Leeds at loan, when he was up for sale palace, West ham and a few other sides all refused to pay the 20M asking price, that should say it all.

To win a PL title Arsenal are going to need strikers who make difference in tight big games and crucial games at end of season.

Nketiah is just an honest squad player, so stop over hyping as usual.

Brentford have both there current strikers going to afcons in Jan, so Arsenal should use common sense and offer Eddie + cash for Toney. But already there are stories in press that Arsenal don't want to pay Toneys asking price.

Arsenal ain't paying 150M for oshimen

Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice should be "welcomed back with open arms" when he returns to West Ham in Wednesday's Carabao Cup tie, says David Moyes.

The 24-year-old England player left the Hammers in a £105m summer transfer.

Rice made almost 250 appearances for West Ham and captained them to a Europa Conference League triumph in June.

"You've got to remember this is the man who lifted this club's first European trophy in more than 50 years," said Hammers boss Moyes.

"He should be welcomed back with open arms. We're all looking forward to seeing him again.

"He was a brilliant member of the team. He led the team brilliantly well. He conducted himself impeccably as a West Ham captain and as a player.

"The most important thing was that he gave 100% in every game, even though we sort of knew he probably wasn't going to stay at West Ham.

"He conducted himself brilliantly well and for that alone he deserves to be cheered.

"I'm really looking forward to seeing Dec again. I've not seen him since he left. I don't know if I want him to play, but I hope he's there."

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta made sweeping changes for his side's tie against Brentford in the previous round, with Rice among the players rested.

However, Arteta said it was "likely" Rice would play some part against the club he joined as a 14-year-old.

"It will be his first time back at his old club and a beautiful moment for him," said Arteta.

"I had a chance to do it a few times and then you really see what they think of you and what you left at the club.

"Every time you hear him talk about West Ham and what they did for him and everybody at the club, he cannot talk any higher of them, so hopefully they will be the same way towards him."

Ramsdale, White, Gabriel, Tomiyasu, kiwor, elneny, RIce, ESR, trossard, Martinelli, Nelson

That's the 11 I think should start tonight

Arsenal starting 11

The midfield looks very light weight tonight

Arteta has picked half of those players

Instead of Tomiyasu he’s playing Zinchenko.

I would liked to have seen Elneny get some game time because he’s hardly played but Jorgino has been preferred

ESR should’ve played ahead of Vieira.

Yeah Tomiyasu should have played against sheff United and tonight. Zinchenko has been poor for a while.

Agreed on elneny as well.

ESR out injured with knee injury so wasn't in squad

What a stupid own goal by Ben White, zero pressure on him

West ham lead 1-0

Strong team out from Arsenal. Its a trophy Arsenal are most likely to win this season.

Arsensl midfield still think it's Halloween 👻👻 jorghino, havertz and Vieira ghosting so far

Only Nelson showing any sort of positivity here

2 good chances wasted by nketitah. Different game when your not playing relegation fodder

This is what happens when you buy trash rejects like Jorghino, Havertz and weak players like Vieira. Passing ball around way to slowly

Its a trophy Liverpool are most likely to win also. Along with Thursday league europa Cup 😉

We are going for all the trophies, we are used to wining silverware. Its a nice feeling, Arteta should try it! :klopp

Arsenal should come back and win this, West Ham have a poor back four.

Arsenal are in halloween mode, awful impotent 1st half.

Trossard, havertz and Jorginho have been trash 1st half

2 good chances wasted by nketitah. Different game when your not playing relegation fodder

I knew this would happen. Back to his mediocre self. Can't score against a PL standard defence, not a good one, but a defence that meets the threshold of PL standard. A fine example of this is West Ham.

I thought we were the better team. The drop in quality was expected as we've only got 2-3 first team players. West Ham are in front because White messed up and gave them a gift. They haven't earned it. If VAR was available, I reckon that goal wouldn't have stood. Ramsdale's shirt was being pulled during that corner.

Seriously improved 2nd half needed, 1st half was like so many of Arsenal's performances this season, very uninspiring. Arsenal ain't in a position for another early cup exit

Zinchenko asleep again. Ramsdale half saves and white off the line

Should be 2-0

That goal is exactly why we should've signed Kudus instead of Havertz. @Mamoon you deserve this humiliation

Poor defending but great touch and finish from Kudus.

Mamoon will say the league cup don't matter and there are bigger fish to fry.

Oh it doesn't matter if havertz fails, others have before

I'm sure there will be some comedy gem

Rive and tomiyassu on, reactive subs as usual

Fraudeta masterclass once again

Mamoon will say the league cup don't matter and there are bigger fish to fry.

Havertz and Kudus both started this game. They're both dying to make a name for themselves so if he tries saying "the league cup doesn't matter" then he needs to give his head a wobble.

3-0 embarrassing 🤦‍♂️

@Mamoon waiting for your latest excuses to defend fraudeta and yet another cup exit

2-0 down he brings on Tomiyasu? Im not watching so assume he came on for an injury.

But surely bring on Saka or does he want to get a hammering here against London rivals?

Newcastle will be licking their lips at facing Arsenal with how poorly they been playing

He brought him on as Zinchenko got exposed on 2nd goal. No point bring saka or Martinelli on, may as well keep them fresh for Newcastle league game now.

Arteta is clueless as they come. He FA cup He won was all down to Auba. Since then he's be exposed as fraud that he is in cups.

This adds to list of embarrassing cup defeats

Man Utd 0 - 2 Newcastle

Geordies are very tough to beat at home, they are played well all season barring the 1-2 defeat to LFC.

Maybe Arteta has conceded this game as lost and is now saving Saka and co for a long drive up north.

At 3-0 down sure but at 2-0 you have to try to win the game, bring on attackers.

But he brings them on at 3 down. lol.

Zinchenko isnt good enough to play in various roles, he's slow and often falls asleep.

Yeah Newcastle away is very tough, if Arsenal play like we did vs Chelsea or tonight, the Newcastle will win by a few goals.

With 25 mins to go, the team isnt going to score 3 goals. If Saka gets a knock it will be a disaster for Arsenal.

West Ham will want this trophy after last years success in Europe.

Arsenal could of signed khudus, oh wait fraudeta had the brilliant idea of signing havertz

"Trust the process"

"Twerk for mediocrity"

As usual, Trossard isn't anywhere near as good as Martinelli when he's starting. @Mamoon you still want the Brazilian on the bench?
Mamoon wanted a midfield of jorghino, havertz and Athur melo

He's probably going to do a ozil-gaard and dissapear as usual.

Exactly yet more idiotic decisions from Peps ex cone distributor

Over 70% possession and just one shot on target.

Newcastle winning 3-0.

Away trip to SJP isn't looking good.

Arteta takes blame as Arsenal knocked out of EFL Cup

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta said "I'm disappointed with myself" after his side were knocked out of the Carabao Cup in the fourth round following a 3-1 defeat by West Ham.

Arteta made six changes to his starting XI, with Declan Rice, Bukayo Saka and captain Martin Odegaard on the bench.

The Arsenal side selected produced a below-par display - for which Arteta took the blame.

"I'm very disappointed. I'm responsible for that," he said.

"We're out of the Cup, we wanted to play a very different game and compete.

"The game took a direction because of the first goal but we have to see much more from the team and earn the right to win.

"I'm disappointed with myself. We wanted to play in a different way and we weren't able to do that. Every time we lose the pain is there.

"We have to use this pain and this defeat to prepare the best way for Newcastle [in the Premier League] on Saturday."

- 2 points off the top of the league after MW10
- unbeaten in the league
- Top of the UCL group
- only the 2nd defeat of the campaign
- Beat Man City

And yet I deserve this humiliation? What humiliation? 🤡

Last night was a poor result but these things happen. When you have only lost 2 matches in the first 3 months and 0 in the league, you are clearly doing something right and are heading in the right direction.

On one hand you have ignoramuses calling Arteta a clueless fraud but on the other hand they have fits when Arsenal lose their second game in 3 months.

@KingKhanWC I am not sure why you are wearing your punditry hat in this thread. You need to ponder why your German fraud, who has only won 2 major titles in 8 years in spite of having some of the greatest players in the world in their respective positions, finished 17 points behind the “schoolboy” Arteta last season and will finish below him this season as well. 🤡

Why don't you tell us more about jorghino success at Arsenal and havertz being best talent in Europe 🤡🤡

Why don't you tell us about nketitah is best back up striker in top 6 teams 🤡🤡

As per usual all 3 of these players went missing last night, must have thought it was still Halloween

Another trophyless season on the way, a fraud of a manager who can't rotate properly will be exposed again.

With partey injured and rice left out from start. Arsenal midfield is bottom half of PL standard with other options.

Fraudeta ain't winning PL or CL

Let's see what excuses you will come out with next 🤡

You deserve same humiliation as last season.

2 points of top, Villa are only 4 points of top. With a manager who has turned a club round in 12 months. Yet fraudeta has take 4 years to do something half decent

Unbeaten in league? So are spurs. Neither side is winning the PL

Top of CL group, containing europa league standard teams. Whens the trophy parade. Bayern, man city and Real should just concede the CL now 🙃

Beat Man City, so did wolves. City are still level on points with Arsenal. So whats your irrelevant point

Any manager who thinks they are going to beat a half decent side with a midfield of jorghino, havertz and Vieira deserves the sack. Slow ponderous, weak midfield just the Artetas management.

Oh yeah "trust the process"

Just like last 3 seasons Arsenal have bigger fish to fry

Not a good night.

Fringe players showing why they are fringe. Having said that, the worst player on the pitch was Zinchenko. Which is quiet the achievement considering Havertz played. I mean the 1st goal from the corner. If you watch the corner Gabriel conceded its because Zinchenko lost his man and didnt't shout Gabriel which meant he had to knock it out of play. His fault!

Kept wondering around misplacing passes leaving Gabriel exposed.

2nd Goal is there for all to see what he did. The guy is a liability! So far he has been dropped for Seville. Subbed against Chelsea at half time and taken off agaisnt West Ham after 55 mins. He is a liability. Cant wait till he is gone.

The rest need to look at themselves. Ramsdale for the 3rd goal is exactly why Arteta bought Raya. There were some excellent saves last season but to many when he should have saved them or his positioning was wrong. I do think it was a foul on him for the 1st but we all know the refs are imcompetent. Trossard started and again did nothing much.

Need to respond against Newcastle. With Jesus out its not looking good.

But jorghino has been a success according @Mamoon

And havertz was misused at Chelsea according to @Mamoon and worlds best young manager fraudeta was going to turn him into prime lothar mattheus

Anyone wondering why the disjointed performances this season?

Barring Rice, partey (can't stay fit) the midfield options are attrocious so its no shock.

Crychenko continually playing ahead of Tomiyasu all time, well that's fraudetas incompetence as usual.

Wait till January when player are missing for Afcons and Asia cup and you will see how poorly this squad has been put together

I wonder which fish Arteta Is frying today

So supposedly the squad depth was addressed in the summer and the club would fight on all 4 fronts. The stark reality is Arsenal need to have their strongest 11 out almost every game. Yes there are players on bench who might be able to do a job as a cameo off the bench. On the odd occasion the team might get away with one or two players like a Vieira, nketitah etc.. coming in to replace a 1st choice player and get a result. Its clearly obvious that when the squad is rotated more then this the team is not good enough. A poorly built squad. Espically in the midfield area. Jorginho, havertz, elneny, Vieira etc.. are not good enough.

Teams have worked out crychenko invert role and it no longer works, he's a liability defensively and offers nothing else.

Yesterday's midfield was a shambles, picking Jorginho who can't run. With two weaklings like Vieira and havertz who offered no physicality or ball winning ability was asking for trouble.

West ham have a better overall pool of midfielders then Arsenal and that showd how poor a squad Arteta has put together.

The disjointed performances aren't a shock when you have a person in charge who is a decent coach. But is **** poor at managing a squad, or rotating a squad.

2 decent performances this season and that was against bournemouth and sheff utd.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta on injuries: "We have another training session so there is a possibility [some players may return], but I don't know.

"Nothing has changed with Emile Smith Rowe - he will be out for weeks. We'll see how he progresses. It's a big blow because he was getting some minutes."

On the fitness of Gabriel Martinelli: "He had a little issue but he has felt better in the last few days. He will train today and if he's fine he will be ready."

Premier League: Quality of division's top teams 'unprecedented', says Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta believes the quality of the teams currently competing for the Premier League title is "unprecedented".

This season's top four have amassed a higher total of points collectively than in any previous campaign.

Tottenham lead the way, with 26 points from a possible 30, two points ahead of both Arsenal and Manchester City and three ahead of Liverpool.

"What has happened in the last five years is unprecedented," Arteta said.

"It never happened with the amount of points and level of the teams."

Manchester City overhauled long-time leaders Arsenal to win the title by five points last season, securing their fifth league victory in six years.

The only side to have beaten City to the top prize during their period of dominance is Liverpool, who won the title with 99 points in 2019-20, winning all but six of their matches during that campaign.

Arteta, whose side remains unbeaten this season, said there is no point comparing the competition to previous seasons because of the number of high-quality teams now in contention.

"Now it's the amount of teams with that level that is increasing and increasing," said Arteta, speaking before Arsenal's trip to Newcastle United on Saturday (17:30 GMT).

"That's why comparing to the past in this league is a waste of time.

"It's very different to what it used to be, and that puts the demands of what we do every single day in a different scope."

Aston Villa continue to keep pace with the top four and are just one point behind Liverpool, on 21.

Of last season's top four sides, Newcastle are five points behind Villa in sixth and Manchester United are two points further back in eighth, behind Roberto De Zerbi's Brighton.

No Jesus, no Partey, no Odegaard.

Jorginho and Havertz in the midfield alongside Rice. At St James Park. Not looking good…

At least Tomi is in there, so our best 4 pure defenders are playing, huge job for them today

Got to that point now where Jesus and partey are injury liabilities and simply can't be depended upon to stay fir for long enough every season. The less said about the so called "squad depth" the better.

The overall squad quality is no better then last season.

I'd take a point right now with the pathetic midfield put out in this game.

Would you not also add Smith Rowe to that list? It’s so depressing that our team is full of these talented players that can’t stay fit

ESR is another I agree.

Then we have the managers poorly put together pool of midfielders. Jorginho, havertz and Vieira are not good enough players if you want to win a title. Elneny is decent at best.

Clubs priority should be improve striker and right wing options. But looks like the midfield needs a huge over haul.

ESR, Tomiyasu and Zinchenko can be added to can't stay fit list to

Scrappy and cagey so far, both sides lacking quality in final 3rd

Really need to do better with these corners and free kicks. Also Eddie needs to learn to hold the ball up properly

Stupid tackle by havertz, only thing he's done all game so far.

Get him and Jorginho off, awful players
