The defending was a utter shambles to say the least with not dealing with cross etc...

No balance in midfield, trossard is in effective in their, oddegard hasn't been great either

West ham look better physically and more fluid.

In saying that we were 1-0 to West ham last season also, but still won.

Need dame again.
 
Need to bring ESR on in midfield or even jorghino (move rice forward)

Really needs to improve balance

Arsenal fans will have their guns out for Zinchenko and will conveniently not talk about Martinelli who has consistently been the weak link this season.

Everyone including Arteta knows that he defensively weak and you wouldn’t back him in a 1v1 situation against any world class winger just like you wouldn’t back Trent, but he is very important for Arsenal in possession and for building from the back.

This is why Arteta preferred him to Tierney and rightly so and he will remain in the team until Timber is fit who is also excellent on the ball but defensively better because he is stronger and quicker.

Arsenal are in pole position to win the league and they will get over the line this time because they are defensively solid and have learned from last season’s experience.

In sport luck is also a factor but the luck Arsenal received v LFC was a lot for one game. Hit the post twice and a stone dead pen not given. You were fortunate to get a point. Great atmosphere at Anfield, one of the very best Ive seen.

The draw doesnt hurt Liverpool more or less, there are plenty of matches to go.

Arsenal 0-1 West Ham

Now its upto Arsenal to show they can come back and win this, what champions often do.

Plenty of time lets see what Arteta can conjur up.

A loss here would hurt Arsenal a lot.

Hammers need to remain calm, dont give a silly foul/pen. They can score again for sure.
 
The lack of natural goal scorers is showing for Arsenal. I'd bring on Eddie asap, he's not Kane but with 52min gone 1 down in stormy weather, you need a natural finisher.

So far shoot and hope.

Also he cries when he makes mistakes, so shows passion for the club.

Pep wanted rid of him for a long time, he was happy when Arteta came calling .

West Ham playing with confidence now, with a 2 goal cushion.

Kudos and Bowen will be looking for runs in the counter. Arsenal need a quick response but with Jesus who has MINUS 13 expected goals, its not going to be easy.
 
If Arsenal lose here and man city win their game in hand, they will go above Arsenal.

It was West Ham which pretty much sealed the deal for Arsenal last year, they have not learned a thing since.

Not sure why Arteta doesnt start with Nelson but good move.

Now with Eddie in there, Saka has something to aim at.

The other problem is you dont have mids who can score 10 goals either. Saka is being wasted by players around him.
 
Rice bought in as a defensive/controlling mid but realises he needs to score goals too.

I cant see Arsenal coming back to draw this let alone win now. Look lost as sea in that rain.

This usually stems down from the manager and coaching staff. Arteta body language in pressure games is not good.

However its too early in the season for not being mentally strong esp at home. The problem is Arteta, Arsenal and their fans know this year its not just City but LFC are back too.

Their is no mentality.

This season VIlla manager and goal keeper was asked if they were in title race, they said yeah we are.

Arsenal last season when top in January, had Edu coming out in January saying top 4 was the aim.

That tells you all you need to know, when the owners, DOF relay these messages to players its no shock the team bottle it, club has no ambition or accountability.
 
If Mohammed Kudos played for Arsenal , crazy they didnt even entertain the idea of getting him.

Dont be surprised if this finishes 0-3 now.

Maybe Klopp can take notes from Moyes and learn to beat Arteta?

He hasn’t beaten Arteta since March 2022 after Arteta put together a team capable of fighting for the title.

Hopefully today’s defeat finally convinced Arteta that Martinelli is awful and needs to dropped.

Nelson deserves to start for the next few games and then January window should give Edu and Arteta the opportunity to explore better options on the wing and make a move in the summer if a January transfer is not possible.

If Arsenal end the season trophyless I want him sacked (4 trophyless season in a row aren't acceptable).

Again - I don’t know what school you went to, but it is Odegaard not Oddegard. How hard is it?

Arsenal are fighting for the title. West Ham are fighting for the top 6. How on earth is West Ham not inferior?

H2H doesn’t matter. You have to play 19 teams not 1. Some teams play better against certain teams.

Spurs did the double on Man City in 21/22. Were Spurs better than City that season? 🤡

Right now, because I have the capacity to look beyond my nose and not focus too much on such results that happen to every team every season. It is normal.

You play 38 games not 1. You have to brush such results off and move on. As a Liverpool fan, you would know this after you lost 6 consecutive matches at Anfield in 2021 and bounced back in great fashion.
 
Title race is over. I predicted 3rd place after Timber's injury and that's where we'll finish.

This isn't just about losing to West Ham. Our away games in the second half of the season will be much tougher.

You have to be delusional if you think Arsenal are gonna win the title from here.

Even if they don’t win the league this season, so what? Is this the last season ever? You have to build on what you have and always look to improve.

Find better players than Martinelli and Jesus and go again. Keep on building on what you have and eventually it will happen.

The important thing is to have the pieces in place and eventually it will click. The good news for Arsenal is that the club is in great hands. The leadership that took Arsenal from struggling to stay in the top 10 to fighting for the title will also get Arsenal over the finishing line.

Zinchenko will not be a starter for Arsenal after Timber is back. In fact he was not supposed to be a starter this season.

Trossard is also not a regular starter, in fact he wouldn’t have played today if Havertz wasn’t suspended.

Martinelli though is the undisputed first choice LW and that is the problem. He is not good enough and will never be good enough to be a permanent starter because there is nothing between his ears.

Arteta and Edu need to explore the market for alternatives. If Martinelli is the best Arsenal can have then this must be the worst era ever in terms of quality of wingers.

It shouldn’t be exhausting when Arsenal haven’t been consistently fighting for the title for 20 years.

Having a team capable of winning the title and not getting over the line for 20+ years will surely be exhausting, but let’s not forget that Arsenal found the right formula only in 2022 after 17 years and it was Arteta who made it happen.

Wenger couldn’t fight for the title after 2008 except for one season (2015-16) and Emery wasn’t capable of raising the standards. Arteta took care of that and he deserves the support of Arsenal fans as he adds the final jigsaws to the puzzle.
 
Arsenal deserve this humiliation. A life long supporter of Arsenal, Kudus, badly wanted to join us during the Summer and look how he bossed this game. He would have been the perfect replacement for Xhaka.

@Mamoon - You also deserve this humiliation because you didn't think much of him and said "I couldn't care about these African players". Well I hope you do now.

Keep shifting the goalposts now. You claimed that no one get embarrassed like this at home and I educated you that these things happen to every team ever season.

If you knew anything about football you would understand that but clearly not.

Winning the title doesn’t give you the license to lose 6 consecutive matches at home the season after.

It shows that even a title winning squad full of world class players can have such moments at home in 6 consecutive games let alone lose your first game at home for the season.

Yes Arsenal were awful today but it doesn’t change the fact that Arsenal are an excellent team that is fighting for the title and Arteta is an excellent manager who has revived Arsenal.

Struggling against one particular opponent doesn’t mean anything. These things happen in football.

You would understand if you knew anything about football but I guess it is too much to ask for from someone living in Alum Rock as a second class citizen.

Arteta isn’t fit to shine Klopp’s glasses yet Klopp can’t beat him at Anfield.

No doubt, West Ham were extremely organized and deserved to win. This game could have gone for another 90 mins and Arsenal wouldn’t have scored.

They didn’t have an answer to West Ham’s tactics today. Fair play and well done to Moyes but this is football.

West Ham defended as a team, strong defense doesn’t just mean the backline. They were double-marking Arsenal players and pressing like dogs which made it very difficult for Arsenal.

It has nothing to do with an ex-Arsenal defender. Your analysis of football is very basic.
