Arsenal FC | 2023/24 Season

Arsenal need a centre-forward and I would love to see them sign Isak.

He should be Arsenal's number 1 priority in the summer transfer window. I would much rather sign him than buy Osimhen or Toney.

Newcastle signed him for £63m. He's worth £100m-£120m.
When Isak was available 2 years ago, his Spanish club wanted 70M but his goal scoring record at this was mediocre and not worth gamble. But he's proved himself at Newcastle so either him or Toney would be a good signing.

Problem for Arsenal with these profit and sustainability rules in place, it means Arsenal can't afford to waste money on transfers like they have on donkeys like havertz and an unnecessary signing in Raya.

At start of season Arsenal needed

Another CB to help saliba / Gabriel
A midfielder to replace xhaka
A striker
A right winger (competition for saka)

Timber and rice were good signings, havertz and Raya were not needed.

Now come the summer the following holes are going to have to be filled

Another CB to help saliba / Gabriel
A striker
A right winger (competition for saka), unless jesus starts being used out wide
a whole midfield rebuild - partey (can't stay fit), jorghino and elneny are likely to be gone.

So even with CL money the club isn't going to fill all those holes, the club is so poor at selling players as well.

So the so called bridging the gap to win title will always remain "we have holes in squad" we need another 2 or 3 players" because Arteta and edu have continually made a dogs dinner of address squad depth in priority areas.

Also giving big contracts to trash like nketitah, Nelson, havertz means teams wanting to buy will not pay the asking fee plus the inflated wages such players are on.

The so called Arsenal got rid of dead wood, having to cancel contracts etc. Will rear its ugly head again.

To many trust the process cheerleaders have their heads buried in the sand (not you by the way)

We all know you had your essay lined up to go all out chest thumping after Trossard’s goal just after the game, but you had to scrap it since you were left red faced because it took Martinelli half the time to score not just once but twice.

Not sure why you got so much resentment towards the Brazilian winger. Did he take a dump on your doorstep?

The only essay you need to focus on is your apology. Please make it a good one because I enjoy reading your comedy posts on this thread.
There was no need to write an essay because Trossard has had an underwhelming season as well.

However, I was expecting an essay from you telling us why Martinelli plays so much better as a starter after he came of the bench in the last 25 mins and knocked in two goals. :klopp

I don’t hace resentment towards Martinelli. Why would I? He has good attitude and works hard.

I have a problem with the fact that he has a low ceiling and is not going to be any better at 27-28 than he is now because he is technically limited and lacks game awareness and intelligence.

He takes too many bad decisions on the ball and needs to be replaced in the starting XI by a superior winger/wide forward who has the pace and dribbling to beat his man but also has the technically ability and intelligence that Martinelli doesn’t have.

I have a problem with Arsenal fans who defend him at all costs and don’t want to accept his shortcomings that are glaringly obvious.

I will also have a problem with Arteta if Martinelli continues to be first choice next season because the time has to come to replace him in the starting XI.

I would absolutely not sell him unless he forces a move after losing his place because he is a very useful player to have on the bench and be an impact sub like he was against Crystal Palace.

Isak is yet another example that proves that the so-called difficulty and challenge of the PL is a myth constructed by delusional PL fans who know nothing about football that exists outside England.

Isak has clearly found the PL easier than La Liga. PL toughest league in the world my backside. Being “Prem proven” means absolutely nothing.

Arsenal needs to explore other markets and do a bit of scouting before bidding for Toney or Isak. The latter is extremely unlikely anyway because Newcastle won’t sell to Arsenal.

Arsenal exploring other markets and signed trash like tavares, lakonga, Vieira, runarsson eyc..to name a few. Outside of Brazilian Market Edus talent ID is garbage.

Another issue a side from Arteta personally asking for trash like Vieira and havertz and underwhelming Raya means no money for a striker in January.

With new PSR Arsenal can't afford to waste money with these 2 clowns in charge.

I also know if Arsenal end season trophyless you will be full of excuses. Let's see what happens when Arsenal finish 3rd or lower as well.

The lack of ambition and accountability at club will continue looks like manager will get a new contract.

It will be 4 trophyless seasons in a row at end of the season and the owners want to reward that mediocrity.

I'm sure once Arsenal are in top 4 race and embarrassed in Europe the club will make the announcement.

If Arteta wants to leave, Arsenal shouldn’t convince him to stay.

I’ve always maintained that the signing of Havertz will cost Arteta his job.

Arsenal can claim there’s no truth about this rumour going around but we all know there’s no smoke without fire.

Arteta wouldn't last more then a season at Barca. Look at one of their legends xavi who won title and fans want him out.

Barca, Real etc.. don't tolerate failure.

Arteta should go manage Rangers thats his level.

Knowing the kronkes and how pathetic and unambitious they are they will give Arteta a new deal.

Il personally pay for a one way ticket for this fraud to go to Barcelona.

Good riddance, plz take nketitah, Nelson, havertz, Vieira, kiwor and Zinchenko with him as well.

Arteta is likely to get an extension that's the reality whether we like it or not.

Again with the fraud labelling. SIGH

I agree with the last sentence 100%.

So a question for you. Now that Klopp is leaving and he is one of a few Elite managers. Who do you think they will get? Or better still who do you think they should get? Surely they will go for Simeone right? as he is the next best out there after Pep And Klopp and who people want at Arsenal.

The point I am trying to make is Arteta should be easy to replace with a better manager from what your opinion is of him. Klopp on the other hand will be more difficult to replace however it will be interesting who they go for and whether you would take them over Arteta.

Its Probably Xabi Alonso tbh.

Exactly my point he will get an extension as club has no standards, accountability or ambition.

Klopp actually wanted to quit last season, he knows his performances last season werent good enough.

Liverpool have a huge choice they could go after Ancelotti, Zidane, Flick, Mourinho, conte. Depends what their clubs long-term plan is and what kind of manager they want.

Otherwise they might look at Alonso, Amorim, de zerbi who are proving themselves at a lower level.

This isn't an appointment based on "he put the cones out for Pep" he might be decent.

How many number 2s actually make a brilliant management career for themselves. Did any of fergursons? Did any of Mourinhos number 2s?

Who is peps assistant now?

Our fan base getting gassed up because of 1 failed title challenge. Also certain posters getting excited over Arteta being fed by another man in dubai.

This season will end trophyless - 4th in a row.

In that time Arsenal haven't even reached a cup final since winning an FA Cup. No young players have been developed in 1st team, stupid amounts of money wasted on trash players which means no squad depth.

Fans want to make excuse oh where up against Pep n klopp etc.. reality is Arsenal lack of ambition and accountability means the pathetic mistakes been continually made means club will keep falling short.

As I mentioned numerous times the kronkes only want CL money. So as long as manager gets that they will keep them in a job. This club ain't winning the CL, so it's same cycle we saw under wenger, only now with a manager who had proved nothing.

This season Arteta will be shown up for being on a par with Rogers and Pep.

There are teams like Chelsea who are in the mud, yet they have reached their 8th cup final since Arteta has been around at Arsenal. Our fan base is doing bhangra over "bigger fish to fry"

Pretty much all mangers I listed earlier are better than Arteta.

Sorry what? How is this anything to do with football?

What did I miss?

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta on injury news: "We have some late decisions to make.

"Thomas [Partey] won't be one of those. Thomas will not be in the squad.

"We had some issues at the end of the last game so we will assess those players. You want everyone in the squad.

"[Declan] Rice is one of those players. He has done some work but he has missed some work as well. Hopefully he will be ok. Gabriel [Magalhaes] is another one."

Interesting

Barca never wanted Areta, great PR move by him and his team to suggest Arsenal are very fortunate to him. lol.
Exactly, nothing more than fake justification to give this loser a new contract.

Probably get announced once Arsenal are embarrassed in Europe or are scrapping in top 4 race.

Last time they announce his contract was after 3 straight defeats to palace, Southampton and Brighton.

All his fan boys will be celebrating like its eid / xmas

It was clear when he said he was 'hurt' by the suggestion he'd leave the club lol.

Its Barca where he started his career, he should be proud to be even linked and admit he'd love the job if ever they wanted him.

Huge game for Arsenal tomorrow night, away to Notts Forrest. Under Nuno they seem to be a strong outfit and in decent form with recent wins against Utd and Newcastle. However their defence has been up and down and will likely give a lot of chances to Arsenal, whose away record in recent matches has been poor.

Imo the team to score first will be fav to take all 3 points. Anything but 3 points for Arsenal would be a disaster in the PL race.

Arsenal record away to notts forrest is very poor, the last 3 visits have ended in losses (league once, FA cup twice) so if Arsensl drop points it won't be a shock.

I can see Man city winning all of their next 6 league games, and if Liverpool get through Chelsea / Arsenal games with at least 4 points then the top two CIty / Liverpool will have opened a big game when table shows in 6 games time.

Arsenal pretty much need to win the next 5 games atleast just to stay close to top, that's not happening.

Arteta being Barca manager Is like Liverpool making Paul konchesky their new manager after klopp.

haha

Notts seem to become stronger in the 2nd half of matches. Its not an easy ground to visit, they have strong vocal support.

Arsenal start fast, they could get a couple in the first half and wait to counter. Chris Wood is on form, need to be careful defending set pieces.

A good break for Arsenal, the players should be fresh and there is no reason for not taking all 3 points.

My prediction - 1-3

Arteta making excuses for failure already

"But Arteta believes a lack of depth has left Arsenal at a distinct disadvantage. "We have one of the thinnest squads in the League, that's for sure," said the Spaniard. "And when you talk about the numbers, especially in certain areas, we are really thin. "It wasn't possible [to do any January deals]."

Money wasted on havertz, Vieira, Raya, kiwor, jorginho new contracts for Nelson, nketitah, not much game time for ESR. Tierney on loan

Yet you will still get excuses in this thread defending the manager. Plenty of time to build squad and failed.

I'm sure the exercuses will be

Mamoon - Arteta gave me a light bulb to do bhangra

Meningreen - oh we have to be positive

Immy69 - il judge the team after 2031 summer transfer window

Firebat - we close the gap on city quality wise

I'm sure load more will be used by losers in fan base.

Team news - Martinelli and Smith Rowe start for Arsenal
Nottingham Forest v Arsenal (19:30 GMT)

Nuno Espirito Santo makes three changes from the side that drew 0-0 with Bristol City in the FA Cup, as Harry Toffolo, Neco Williams and Morgan Gibbs-White come in for Nuno Tavares, Ryan Yates and Callum Hudson-Odoi.

Recently-injured trio Taiwo Awoniyi, Felipe and Anthony Elanga are all on the bench.

Nottm Forest XI: Turner, Montiel, Omobamidele, Murillo, Toffolo, Mangala, Danilo, Williams, Gibbs-White, Dominguez, Wood.

Subs: Hennessey, Vlachodimos, Worrall, Awoniyi, Hudson-Odoi, Felipe, Elanga, Yates, Aguilera.

Mikel Arteta has brought Gabriel Martinelli and Emile Smith Rowe into his starting XI, with the duo replacing Leandro Trossard and Kai Havertz in the two changes from the team that thumped Crystal Palace 5-0 in their last match.

Arsenal XI: Raya, White, Saliba, Gabriel, Zinchenko, Rice, Odegaard, Smith-Rowe, Saka, Jesus, Martinelli.

Subs: Ramsdale, Kiwior, Soares, Walters, Jorginho, Trossard, Havertz, Nelson, Nketiah.

What happened to Smith Rowe? A couple of years ago he was an exciting talent but has gone backwards bigtime?

He's been very injury prone. Then Arteta then chose to give more time to Vieira and havertz.

You know those 2 world class player Arteta signed. Oh wait sorry Arsenal don't have depth in squad according to Fraudeta.

Go on Gunners!

Emile Smith Rowe makes his first Premier League start since October #NFOARS

Wow look at that depth on the bench. Amazing job Arteta and edu have done

Must win game at a ground where Arsenal record is poor
🟡 2-2 vs. Chelsea
🔴 0-1 vs. Newcastle United
🟢 1-0 vs. Brentford
🟢 4-3 vs. Luton Town
🔴 0-1 vs. Aston Villa
🟡 1-1 vs. Liverpool
🔴 1-2 vs. Fulham

Arsenal have won just two of their last seven Premier League away games.

Arteta is the best young manager in the world who has taken Arsenal from a team struggling to finish in the top 10 to a team fighting for the PL while spending less money than City (who already had a champion team when Arteta took over Arsenal), Chelsea and United.

He is also Spanish and was part of the Barcelona youth setup.

He is an ideal candidate for Barcelona and this rumor was instigated by the Catalan media to tap Arteta up but he has unfinished business at Arsenal.

There is a good chance he will coach Barcelona at some point in the future but not before he wins a couple of league titles at Arsenal.

Arsenal stil have to go to eithad, old Trafford, spurs and Brighton away. This is why Arsenal won't win title and will not finish in top 2 either

I know his history, he failed to make it at Barca.

Its all good jumping up and down for a manager but the proof is in the pudding or in football terms, in the trophy cabinet. Arteta has done ok but until he wins a major trophy(FA cup was not his side), he is similar to Spurs managers.

🤣 comedy gold, was waiting for usual copy nonsense.

Barca are getting rid of a legend in xavi, who won a title. A fraud like Arteta would be sacked very quickly.

Barca, Real don't tolerate bottling title races and failing in Europe.

Arteta should go to Rangers, that's his level

Since winning FA cup with a "toxic team" he's reached zero cup finals, bottled top 4, bottled a title. He's got rid of the deadwood and replaced it with more deadwood.

Arteta at Barca, is like shelvey at Liverpool.

Mediocre player who know one cares about.

Arteta managing Arsenal, would be mirrored if shelvey or some other Mediocre ex Liverpool player replaced klopp

Arteta failed to make it at Barca because he was competing with Xavi and Iniesta, two midfielders better than anyone in Liverpool history.

He was one of the best Spanish midfielders to never get a cap. Really good player on his day but not elite level.

Pep himself was lucky to have played in an earlier generation or else he too would have failed to make it at Barcelona because of the two players that I mentioned.

Arteta hasn’t won the league yet but the progression is a clear to see. There is a big difference between Arsenal of December 2019 and Arsenal of today.

For clubs like Barcelona, progression is as important as trophies. Xavi won the league last season and had a fabulous defensive record but the team has regressed badly this season and hence he has been asked to leave.

More copy paste, repeat.

Arteta has done this.. Arteta has done that.. 😴😴

This season will be season with a trophy

This season will also be 4 seasons without getting to a cup final

But according to you that's progress.. oh he "got rid of the deadwood" and now Arteta is making excuses their is no squad depth.

I wonder who bought all the deadwood on bench or gave them new contracts.

We will see your written apology at end of season when it's zero trophies and not even in top 2 in the league.

Oh yeah you said Finishing outside top 2 is a failure.

So we will either see you run off n hide as usual or make more excuses. I can guarantee that.

Arteta wasnt competing with Xavi and Iniesta. He was playing in the B team. He was competing with the likes of Petit, Lopez, Pep, Enrique but was nowhere near even their level.

Barcelona dont want progression over years, they want to be competing with Real and win the league asap!

This is the mentality of Spurs, Arteta and you, as long as we try, we progress, we follow the plan its ok if our trophy cabinet is full of dust. :)

30 mins gone, not a single shot on target from Arsenal.

Nuno is playing to counter it seems and it might work.

Brilliant post, glad you saw through the weak excuse.

Arteta was a decent player at Rangers and Everton.

He was mediocre at Barca. At Arsenal he was a start of when Arsenal stop being a serious club.

Replacing cesc with Arteta which is like replacing a ferrari with a three wheel car you see in only fools and horses.

Ususl pass, pass, go backwards.

"Playing with more control" 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

Sometimes patience works, sometimes it gets you stuck in the mud, which seems to be happening here.

Odegaard needs to make the plays, the through balls to get the wingers running on to. That no.10 which can open up a defence is needed here. I'd play him further up with Rice and Smith Rowe furthe rback.

2nd half still to come, plenty of time for Arsenal. But cannot concede first here, Notts look like they can keep a clean sheet.

Arteta, Xavi and Iniesta were all part of the same age group and they were part of the academy together. They were competing with each other.

Arteta was nowhere near those two and he left because opportunities would have been limited. Same reason why Fabregas joined Arsenal in 2003 because even though he was a much better player than Arteta.

Amazing 1st half.. trust the process

No win here tonight and Liverpool win tomorrow and Liverpool will come to Emirates 7 points clear.

Arteta wasn’t mediocre at Barcelona. Barcelona simply had two generational talents in his age group and there was no room for him.

He was a realistic option to replace Fabregas because in the 2011-12 period, Arsenal didn’t have the funds to replace Fabregas with an elite talent.

None of that is Arteta’s fault though. He did an admirable job as player and captain in his capacity even though his body was breaking apart.

Arteta was one level below , competing with the names I mentioned. We will continue this on his thread.

What do you make of this match so far?

80+ possesion but only 1 shot on target.

Plenty of time left, how will Arteta and Arsenal turn this possession into some goals?

Arsenal had plenty of funds to replace cesc, Arsenal so called debt to pay off stadium was massively over exaggerated.

The facts are kronkes didn't want to put any more into club but chose not to.

That season Arsensl sold nasri and cesc and replaced it with trash is when this Club stopped being a big club.

Xabi Alonso is the best young manger in the world.
No you wrong Arteta is best young manager because

He's on course for a 4th trophyless season

A 4th season without a cup final appearance

Developing no young players at club

Replacing toxic deadwood with trust the process deadwood

Bought a team dog mascot called "Win"

Getting embarrassed in Europe season after season.

Alonso isn't capable of such brilliance

Approaching 65-70 mins time for usual Arteta subs

Plenty deadwood on bench

"Thin squad" as Arteta calls it

Tight but Arsenal got over the line with a vital 3 points, which really matters.

Credit to Notts and Nuno, played a good tactical game , was unlucky with the first goal and nearly got a point at the end.

Other teams will look to play this way v Arsenal esp away....

But not Liverpool FC, they will go hard at the Emirates, should be a great game.

Awful performance but 3 points. Can't afford to play that poorly when we play you lot.

But going into 2nd half of season you have to win some games in ugly fashion

Some credit to Notts too esp in the first half but Arsenal didnt look like a PL title winning side tonight. You have to go hard at these teams who are battling relegation but yep in the end the 3 points is crucial.

Its probably a good thing for Liverpool after this performance, Arsenal will want to play pretty football at home and with Artetas ego, they will try things , opening up spaces for Liverpool.

Both teams will have a lot of chances, Liverpools forwards are in hot form atm esp Nunez and Jota. It could be a draw or Liverpool to win by 2 goals difference. Im biased but cant see us losing on SUnday, unless its the same as Spurs with some criminal VAR decisions.

First half there was no end product to the possession. Was all harmless. Got into some decent positions but scared to shoot.

2nd half slightly better. Once 1st goal went in was always going to open up.

Thought trossard did well when he came on to. Kept possession.

Zinchenko usual liability in defense. Didn't play the offside trap and then didn't even jump to try and distract attacker.

Only Positive is we come away with a win from Forest for once.. After the last few visits.

Amazing 1st half.. trust the process

No win here tonight and Liverpool win tomorrow and Liverpool will come to Emirates 7 points clear.
🤡🤡🤡

Couldn’t wait for the second half could you. This is what happens when you are praying and hoping for your own team to lose.

Xabi Alonso is the best young manger in the world.
Xabi Alonso has very high potential too. Both Arteta and Xabi Alonso are top drawer and both should achieve a lot in the next 10 years.

This was not convincing nor was this a satisfying performance.

Arsenal looked indecisive and lacked the confidence to penetrate the defence, let alone score for most of the game.

You can always count on Matt Turner to produce another blunder 🤣. Forest can thank Arteta and Edu for bringing him into the PL. This guy is easily the worst first-choice goalkeeper in the PL.

There’s no way Jesus should have scored from there. If it wasn’t for Turner’s embarrassing blunder, Arsenal may have dropped points in this game.

The game opened up after the goal as Forest had to gamble and start committing men forward. This paved way to a counter attack which was well worked and ended with a fine right-footed finish from Saka.

Martinelli was poor again but I have far bigger concerns with Odegaard and Zincheko, who yet again prove to be overrated mental midgets.

Odegaard’s decision making in/around the box whilst he was on the ball was terrible and he misplaced so many passes in good areas of the pitch.

Zinchenko cost his side the clean sheet. If you look at the Forest goal, when the long ball was played in, he refuses to attempt the header. It was beyond pathethic and simply inexcusable at this level. At the end of the game, you could see Ben White having a go at him and rightly so. It’s about time that his team mates called him out not just for his defensive incompetence but more to do with lack of commitment and heart in his defensive work.

On a positive note, Jesus deserves MOTM for his goal and assist. ESR played well. When he had the ball, he rarely lost the ball. I hope he starts against Liverpool.

🤣🤣 comedy gold. Alonso is in a title race in his 1st full season, Arteta was languishing in 8th place at start of Arsenal management career.

Not even a comparison Alonso is already proving his miles better.

Arteta mediocrity continues

But but Zinchenko offers extra man in midfield

But but Zinchenko leads the team huddles

I actually wish Ben White had punched Zinchenko lights out last night. The pathetic cry baby went running to daddy Arteta like some spoilt brat. This is why this club has a loser mentality in the squad.

All this nonsense about Arsenal getting rid of toxic players and deadwood is hilarious.

All club has done is brought in playee who are mentally weak and New deadwood.

Absolutely dreadful passive impotent football in supposedly "phase 4" of trust the process for the clueless sheep in the fan base.

Matt Turner. He was signed by Arsensl purely as a marketing gimmic by the club to get more viewers watching from the US, just the Austin trusty. Surprise surprise the club eventually got rid of both trash players.

Anyone wondering why the club supposedly has no money to spend on transfer. Look no further then the fraud manager. The fact he came out saying there is no squad depth when he's wasted so much money on garbage signings and contract renewals just shows this club is going through same cycle it did under wenger.

Only difference is most of fan base now this the club's called Arteta fan boys FC

@topspin

Odegaard was wasteful at times but he did create a few good chances, especially the one for Jesus who ended up hitting the point from point-blank range. Overall he was below his best but not bad enough to be highlighted.

Zinchenko is defensively circumspect and everyone knows that. This is why Arteta brought Timber in the summer who offers the same control and incisiveness on the ball but is physically stronger and quicker.

Unfortunately, his injury ruined a lot of plans this season. When he returns from injury, Zinchenko will not be a starter so again it is not something to be worried about.

The real problem is Martinelli, who continues to demonstrate that he is not capable of being a permanent starter because of his technical limitations and poor game awareness.

He should be used as an impact sub like he was in the previous match where he can come later in the second half and stretch tiring defenders with his pace and directness.

I will have a serious problem with Arteta if Arsenal go into 2024-25 with him as a starter. Arsenal should absolutely be exploring the market for an upgrade on the LW.

The only comedy gold is the fact that you are juxtaposing Arteta and Alonso even though both are operating under completely different circumstances, pressure and expectations.

Leverkusen is a mid-tier club with small fans and a 30K stadium that don’t demand or expect trophies from the club and doesn’t expect them to fight for the league.

It is a friendly club with a stress free environment that has never won the Bundlesliga in its entire history and you don’t see their fans rioting in the streets.

Alonso is operating under no pressure whatsoever because there were no expectations to begin with.

Put him in a situation like Arteta where he had to rebuild a toxic culture with huge fan base, an aggressive media and an expectation to take Arsenal back to the top and it will be completely different from Alonso.

The real test for Alonso would come when he is managing Madrid, Bayern, Liverpool or another top 6 club in England.

There is a world of difference between the pressure of managing Arsenal and the pressure of managing an innocent, docile club like Leverkusen.

Will Alonso do well at a big club? I’m sure, but it is too early to say that he is better than Arteta based on what he is doing at Leverkusen because he needs to prove himself at a club that is comparable to Arsenal in terms of magnitude, pressure and expectations.

Arsenal don't demand trophies either, if they did Arteta would have been sacked ages ago.

This season will be 4 trophyless seasons in a row

4 season without even getting to a final

The toxic deadwood has been replaced with trust the process deadwood

When Arsenal finish below city and Liverpool (which according to you fid failure) the club will give the manager a new contract.

Why because they only care about CL cash, Arsenal ain't winning CL.

So the same cycle as under wenger in 2nd half of his stint at Arsenal.

The fact you think the while world revolves around the Spanish brendon Rogers, means you actually think this clubs changed.

Delusion at its finest.

You can say what you want about Leverkusen, middle table etc.. the fact is Arsenal behave like a middle table club with its lack of ambition as well.

It's getting to a point where Zinchenko's team mates are getting fed up with him. I mean why wouldn't they? He's always been Arteta's golden boy and it's obvious that he's been allowed to get away with his blunders. Zinchenko has never shown any improvement in his defensive skills because he knows Arteta will protect him. It's a classic case of a teacher's pet.

The guy is desperate to be a leader but the reality is he should be the last person in the squad to be anywhere near the leadership group let alone ever captain the team because he's mentally made out of glass.

There are 2 x mental midgets that stand out like a sore thumb in the Arsenal team. One of them is Zinchenko and the other is Odegaard. What makes Arsenal a joke is the fact that the latter is still Arsenal's captain. I don't see Arsenal getting over the line in the PL and UCL with him as captain and Zinchenko playing in this team.

I actually think Odegaard's non-existent leadership is affecting the mentality of the team. We've seen him wilt and not get involved in various events, whether it be big away games, playing against more physical sides and also when Arsenal have their backs against a wall.

Arteta and Edu (in particular) have bought so much trash including Turner, Havertz, Zinchenko, Kiwior, Lakonga, Tavares and Vieira, and to top it all off you make Havertz of all players the highest paid player in the squad. It makes no sense whatsoever and it's just an absolute shambles. As I said before, there needs to be an inquiry into the signing of Havertz.

I have given up all hope in the PL because the side has a much more difficult run of away fixtures in comparison to City and Liverpool. Arsenal could get a lucky draw in the UCL and make it to the final, if they avoid City, Bayern and Real Madrid in the QF and SF, assuming they beat Porto. If Arsenal fails to win the PL or UCL, he needs to be given the sack this summer along with Edu.

Arsenal have more than enough depth in the LWF position. They have: Martinelli, Trossard, Nelson, ESR and Jesus who can all play on the left hand side. It's actually the other side of the pitch, in the RWF position, that is a more pressing issue.

I would give Martinelli one more season to prove his worth as one of the best LWs in world football, like he did last season.

Arsenal actually need to prioritise the following areas in the summer transfer window (from highest to lowest priority):
  • CF - this should be Arsenal's no.1 priority in the summer. I would like to see Isak join us
  • CM - still need to find a replacement for Xhaka. Havertz needs to be sold.
  • RWF - Arsenal need more depth in this position because Saka is being run to the ground.
  • CAM - Odegaard needs competition. Looks complacent because he knows he's untouchable as one of Arteta's golden boys. At the same time, they need to sell Vieira.
  • DM (potentially multiple) - I expect Partey, Jorgino and Elneny to leave this summer. I hope Arsenal at the very least sign Zubimendi.
  • CB - need an upgrade on Kiwior if they have have sufficient funds.
In the 2025 summer transfer window, Arsenal can upgrade on Martinelli, Ben White and Odegaard if they haven't improved by the end of next season.

So what we "need" is what I mentioned a week ago on 22nd January.

Let's go back to start of season and look at what we needed in the squad.

Another CB to help saliba / Gabriel
A midfielder to replace xhaka
A striker
A right winger (competition for saka)

Timber and rice were good signings. It's unfortunate Timber got injured. No new striker, no new winger.

Essentially the new contracts for nketitah (season before) and Nelson were seen as the "cover"

100m then was spunked away on havertz and Raya. Neither signing was needed, now there is no money to spend. You think Arteta and Edu weren't aware that this was last bit of money left.

So pretty much from summer 23 to summer 24 same holes need filling, plus a midfield rebuild.

Will rear its ugly head again

What makes me laugh Is the so called "positive" and "delusional" fans can't see the mess created by Arteta and Edu and keep their heads buried in the sand

You are still stuck in the 2010s when Arsenal led by a washed up Wenger had absolutely no ambition to compete. Since Wenger left, the club restructured and the Kroenke’s took full ownership, there has been a cultural shift.

This is why Emery was sacked after 15 months because the owners realized that he didn’t have the personality to manage a big club. If the club didn’t have ambition and didn’t demand success, they would have persisted with Emery.

If the club didn’t have ambition, they wouldn’t have sanctioned a £105m transfer. You don’t spend that kind of money on one player if you lack ambition.

Lacking ambition is not signing a single outfield player in the entire summer window (2015).

Arteta has not won a major trophy yet but the reason the owners have full faith in him is because they can clearly see the direction the club is heading in.

He took Arsenal from 8th to 5th to 2nd in consecutive seasons. It is very much like Klopp’s journey at Liverpool from 2015 to 2018 where he won nothing but you could tell that he was eventually going to do it based on how the team was developing.

Moreover, the owners can also see the circus at Chelsea and United and realize that changing the managers like clothes is not the solution.

They could have sacked him in 2020 and 2021 and perhaps a more impatient, short-sighted owner would have done that but the fact is that no available manager could have done a better job than what Arteta has.

Arsenal have depth on the left but no one is the right fit. Trossard and ESR are technically great but they don’t have the pace.

Martinelli will never be good enough because of his technical limitations and poor intelligence. Like Walcott and Ox, he will never make it and do what is expected from.

Nelson is good for depth, but a new LW has to be a priority in the summer.

Oh here we go the Arteta vs klopp comparison 😴😴 like a broken record.

To even make the comparison is dumb, I'm not going over same nonsense again.

The fact you avoided my point on if Arsenal finished 3rd or below is failure (your words earlier in season)

Arsenal finishing third this season would be a failure, just like Liverpool finishing 5th last season and third in 2020-21 were failures.

However, you have to understand that Arteta is the reason why finishing third would feel like failure. Finishing third in the last few years of Wenger and under Emery would have been a success.

Arteta is the reason Arsenal are competing for the title and he is the reason Arsenal fans are dreaming of the title again.

If Arsenal finish third this season, it will be because of the lack of goals. Arteta should be backed in the market to sort out the striker situation and lead another title charge next season.

Arteta should be back with a striker? The club had money for a striker, instead Arteta wasted on havertz and raya, two signings thr club didn't need to make.

On top of that Arteta crying about having a thin squad before forest game when he's wasted money on Vieira, havertz, jorghino, kiwor, nketitah (new contract), Nelson (new contract).

Replacing deadwood with deadwood.

You go on like Arteta is some sort of generational manager, it will be 4 season no trophy, 4 season cup finals.

Spanish brendon Rogers.

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta on the incident between Ben White and Oleksandr Zinchenko at the final whistle against Nottingham Forest: "They are living together now, they are best mates! You don't argue with someone you don't have a great relationship with. That happens because you have the trust and chemistry to react the way you did.

"Do like it? I love it. As long as it's in a respectful way and only with the intention to be more demanding and better as a team, and it stays there, I'm very happy with that."

On whether it was acceptable: "Maybe we have a different understanding of what the word 'fight' means. A little bit emotional after the game when you are 200 beats a minute. It's normal. Nothing new. I want to see passion and commitment from my players. I want my players to have desire always to be better. In order to do that we have to be demanding of each other, otherwise it's Disneyland."

If Liverpool beat Arsenal on Sunday then Arsenal are done for season.

But for all the delusional fans with the head in sand like an ostrich there are bigger problems to come.

- Thomas partey is injured, no surprise here. Come the summer Arsenal are going to have huge problems. Elneny is done as an option, and jorghino isn't going to improve on the average player he is. So the club is going to have to look at rebuilding the entire midfield to move forward.

Anyone think Arsenal are just signing a striker away from winning titles are simply delusional.

With rules been tightened on FFP and on PFR, clubs have to watch what they spend. Even with CL revenue the fact Arsenal have been so poor will come back to haunt them in the summer.

No one wants Arsenal's deadwood like nketitah, Nelson etc.. no one is going to over pay on trash like Vieira, haverz etc.. so what what player can Arsenal sell to raise funds because

A Striker, right winger, at least 2 midfielders, another CB and probably another keep are going to be needed.

Arsenal may get a striker, bit midfield rebuild will not be feasible the way Arsenal operate this summer

Edu is trash at selling players. Arteta happily wasting money on trash players offer no depth.

The owners think both these 🤡 are doing a good job because of CL money the club's getting.

This car crash I saw ages and a lot of fan base are going to get a shock in summer when once again the club won't be able to do enough to increase overall squad quality because of repeated mistakes.

It's gazidis and wenger (in decline) all over again

Bang on.

Have you noticed that Havertz's salary has been getting a lot more exposure in recent days on social media? More and more Arsenal fans are talking about it and are beginning to realise that this is a major sign of Arteta's demise as Arsenal's manager.

You bring a lazy player who's been nothing but a flop for 3 straight years in the PL for the same fee that he was acquired for from his old club and not only that, you allow him to be the highest paid player in the squad. Arterta and Edu need to be held accountable for this. The ship for the Premier League has now sailed. Champions League is the last straw for them.

As you said, an additional £60m wasted on Vieira, who is trash, and £30m on Raya, when he wasn't even needed. I don't see any noticeable difference between him and Ramsdale in their goalkeeping skills. But the latter has a far bigger reach and a more imposing presence on his opponents. Raya will not last long at Arsenal.

Let's see if the apology is delivered by Arteta's no.1 fan boy at the end of this season.

This summer should have seen club make signings of the quality of Allison, van dyyk (players to take Arsenal up a level). Instead we sign havertz and raya.

Arteta's goal keeping selections in 4 years have been trash. From getting rid of martinez and keeping Leno. Then getting rid of Leno a year later. Signing runnarson, Turner etc...

The poor selections at left back through out last 4 years as well.

Then look at how many midfield signings have been successful?

Rice has been excellent, Oddegard has improved but is a mental midget. Partey has just been underwhelming as he can't stay fit. Rest of midfield signings have been trash.

In 4 years 1 striker signing in Jesus, whose all round game is good, but he's not elite.

Arsenal don't have elite manager like Pep. Or a top class one like klopp.

That means they have to make most of the resources, signings, youth players, etc.. which this club isn't.

Sadly the kronkes are happy with this so won't be shocked if other teams over take Arsenal in next few seasons as well

Arsenal had their chance to get Klopp when Wenger was washed up but instead they let him ruin his own legacy and leave the squad in a really bad state. It was tragic how he was allowed to continue when he was well past it as a manager.

Owners only care about CL revenue and networking off the pitch. Arsenal is just a interest making vehicle for the owners with zero ambition or accountability. Nothing has changed now either

Wenger should have left in 2015 after we beat Villa in FA Cup.

Havertz and Jorginho starting

I honestly don’t get the selection of Jorgino. Says a lot about Arteta’s treatment of ESR, who's not starting today after a promising outing against Forest.

Havertz played as a number 9 against Liverpool in the FA Cup and we saw how that turned out. A very odd choice by the manager.
