Arsenal FC | 2023/24 Season

Brilliant stop by Ramsdale, all Brentford now. Arsenal giving ball away. Nketiah been useless this half with the ball
Ramsdale has mad reflexes. It was a great save.

What I like about him is that extra height he’s got over Raya as well.

When it comes to long range passing, there’s no comparison, Raya is well ahead but he’s short for a goalkeeper (6ft) and that does concern me.

I’m still undecided when it comes to who should be our no.1 even though I’ve said before Ramsdale was a bit of a liability at the back end of last season.

What the he'll was that from Zinchenko 🤦‍♂️ got away with that

When I see Havertz in, Xhaka and Tierney out. I wonder if we’ve really strengthened much?

With Timber’s injury, the only upgrade we’ve got right now is Rice in CDM.

Gabriel has been superb. He’s world class. I don’t get with him and Saliba how we’re leaking so many goals. Arteta can’t blame personnel when it comes to the heart of defence.
The 2 CBs are good, but do make errors. It's just collectively as back 4 I think the full backs just make poor decisions which cause issues most of time. Plus I don't think there is that hunger to keep goals out, if there was we wouldn't concede so many cheap goals.

Defenders should be throwing bodies on line all time and are defenders dont

Raya is the better keeper. He's more solid and comands his box better and in the air on crosses.

Ramsdale looks like better shot stopper visually, but his positional sense is very poor. Also on penalties he's really poor.

Ramsdale was one of reasons we lost league back end of last season

I think we get exposed because of our full backs as you alluded to. Zinchenko is a liability and Ben White isn’t an elite full back, he’s a makeshift one.

Timber for Tierney
Rice for xhaka
Raya for turner

So it's pretty much 3 upgrades but same squad size. Havertz offers nothing so no overall strength in squad hasn't happened

Ben White a decent RB, but does struggle against proper pace. He's really poor at heading aswell. He does a good job.

Zinchenko is just a walking disaster as a so called left back. Only Andre Santos is probably worse them in terms of LB I've seen at Club.

When uve seen sansom, winterburn, Cole and silvinho you have high standards of what you expect from a LB

Ramsdale should have tried to score there, keeper was in the box 🤣🤣

Good 1-0 win and into next round

Gabriel should be man of match he was immense.

Good win with a depleted side but the game should have been buried in the first half.

Yeah wasted way to many chances 1st half and then didn't create anything 2nd half.

Got to hope we get rice and few others back for bournemouth game.

Hopefully get Exeter, Port Vale, Ipswich or Chelsea in next round. Hopefully a small club

With City out, I’d say it’s between Arsenal, Liverpool, Newcastle and Man U.

Chelsea got a good win today as well but I doubt they’ll be able to knock out any of the above sides.

Yeah the 4 sides you mentioned will be the main contenders. Bet Man u get a easy draw next round, they always do 🤦‍♂️

Mansfield are lowest ranked team left so let's hope we get them ha.

Premier League: 2. Liverpool, 5. Arsenal, 7. West Ham United, 8. Newcastle United, 9. Manchester United, 11. Fulham, 14. Chelsea, 15. Everton, 17. Bournemouth, 19. Burnley.

Championship: 2. Ipswich Town, 14. Blackburn Rovers, 22. Middlesbrough.

League One: 4. Port Vale, 6. Exeter City.

League Two: 3. Mansfield Town.

Didn't manage to catch the game, how was it? From what I heard it was quite a lucky victory.

Trip to West Ham up next for Arsenal in the Carabao Cup.

Played well 1st half, created a few chances which were wasted.

2nd half it was all Brentford mainly because nketitah was useless at holding ball up n havertz kept giving it away.

Gabriel and Ramsdale were excellent

Ramsdale's impressive return as Arsenal beat Brentford

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta praised "exceptional" Aaron Ramsdale on his return to the team as the Gunners won at Brentford in the Carabao Cup third round.

Reiss Nelson scored the decisive goal in the eighth minute after a mistake in defence by the hosts.

But the display of goalkeeper Ramsdale, benched in favour of David Raya in Arsenal's last three games, proved pivotal in ensuring Arteta's side booked a fourth-round meeting at West Ham.

He caught the eye when he made a crucial second-half save from Yoane Wissa as Brentford put the visitors under heavy pressure in the second half.

"For sure, he's been exceptional around the place - and especially with the situation," said Arteta of Ramsdale.

"We love him, for sure. We know his character and what he brings to the team and we are happy to have him. Every player is very important.

"Today he had the opportunity to play and he had a really good game."

Arsenal will travel to Premier League rivals West Ham United in the week commencing 30 October for a place in the quarter-finals.

Arsenal fans applauded and sang Jorginho’s name after his terrible error.

An Arsenal player committing a terrible error at home in the NLD that cost the team 3 points was cheered as if he had scored the winner.

This is something that we would have never witnessed before. This is the impact Arteta has had on the club.

He has united the fans and united every component of the club like never before and he did after years and years of fragmentations within the club.

This is why every player wants to run through a brick wall for him; this is every (true) fan is standing behind every single player.

The players can feel this energy and this energy is transmitted throughout the club all the way to the dog Win and the people working tirelessly behind the scenes who never get recognition and are not known.

You can criticize Havertz all you want, but please remember that there is fire inside him waiting to ignite. He is desperate to make an impact and he knows how much faith and support he has from his manager and the real fans who want him to succeed rather than score points on Internet forums.

Just remember that Havertz scoring his first goal at the Emirates will blow the roof. It will be one of the moments of the season and you will see the passion and joy in his eyes.

Arteta is the greatest coach in the world for Arsenal and Arsenal will not and cannot trade him for anyone.

He knows what it means to play for Arsenal and what drives this club. He knows what the supporters want.

He took a massive pay-cut in 2011 to join Arsenal. He did that at a stage of his career where players are desperate to maximize their earning.

There was no time to do his medical and he begged Arsene to trust him and if he is not up to speed, it will be on him. This is what playing for Arsenal meant for him and this the passion and love for the club that he is instilled in the fans.

Trophies come and go, but it is the culture and the soul of the club that makes all the difference. Arsenal had lost its soul after Arsenal left Highbury.

Arsene built the Emirates but Arteta turned on the lights. Emirates is home now. Arsenal, long known as a club with poor atmosphere, has become one of the loudest and passionate fan base in football thanks to Arteta.

Arteta will win things for Arsenal. Big things. He is close, he is very close. He overtook a team in tatters with no direction and has turned them into title contenders that is only missing one or two final pieces of jigsaw to win it all and it will happen.

@topspin some comedy for you to read 🤣🤣

Another clean sheet away from home. Good 1st half, tame 2nd half.

Same culprits doing the same things though. Eddie was good for the goal but was poor otherwise. I also worry about when he charges down defenders/goalkeepers when they are about to clear. Always seems to leave a foot in or lunges. I am sure he has got sent off for this before a few years back against Leicester.

Havertz looked poor again which is the norm. Its like he turns to Jelly when he gets the ball. He did look better when Jesus came on and did win a few headers but 60mill should get you more than a flick on.

The less said about Zinchenko the better. Guy has a lot to say on socials and interviews but on the pitch in our half he is a liability. He thinks that if he puts his hand up after a mistake it'll be fine cos he is Ukrainian and gets the sympathy. There I said it

I thought Tomiyasu was candidate for MOTM. Good option at CB as he has the attributes in the air and physically. Just a shame about his injury record.

A cause for concern is that Ben White looks absolutely knackered which does not bode well for Saka down that side.

Away against West Ham Next round. Not a bad draw considering they have Europa to. Hopefully a few fringe players like Ethan Nwaneri will take part in that game.

Bournemouth next. Should win - well have to win. Injury concerns but should have enough to beat them.

Eddie was poor last night, you can see he's become arrogant and complacent thinking he's made it now. His hold up play n link up play was non existent. Yeah he always seems to make tackles with studs up and was rightly booked again. 2 or 3 times he had chance to pass in a good position and chose to shoot, as usual missed the target.

But because he's an arteta fav now he will continue stinking place out with poor performance.

Havertz was useless as well and killed all fluidity by either passing backwards or taking to many touches. Numerous times ESR played ball into and wanted a 1-2 and ball never came back.

Jorginho looked mediocre as well. Poor mobility, slow passing. Between him and havertz they killed all free flowing football. But you will get fans like mamoon getting over excited at such rubbish football, as mediocre twerking merchants.

If rice is out for any length time and its Jorginho and havertz in midfield against anyone half decent Arsensl are in trouble.

Zinchenko was poor when he came on and gave a goal away. White indeed looks tired, he's so poor in the air, has anyone ever seen him win a header?

Tomiyasu and Gabriel both played well, kiwor did ok but still seems to switch off when it's get physical.

West ham away is a game we can win with rotation. Nwaneri was just a token selection last season. Nothing more then Arteta pretending he's actually going to develop hale end players. You only have to look at mismanagement of ESR, Nelson and Balagun to see Arteta would rather play his mediocre crap favourites like Vieira, havertz, Eddie etc.. over such players.

By now and then picking a hale end player in a cup game and then they dissappear from selection is just Arteta trying to keep fan base on his side and deflect from all his other poor decisions.

When I read all this, I do sometimes wonder whether you're here merely to troll Arsenal fans.

Singing Jorgino's name after making a major blunder isn't what we need. We need him to showcase his abilities as an experienced DM, like we saw in the second half of last season.

Before we talk about Havertz scoring his first goal for Arsenal, he needs to learn to pass the ball forward. He looks very uncomfortable every time he's on the ball and all we've seen from him this season are him passing the ball backwards, missing sitters and making errors like the one we saw recently in the lead up to Rashford's goal at the Emirates. He literally brings nothing to the team. After all the time he's spent playing in the PL, I think it's fair to say we've all seen enough of time. I remember you saying before the season began that he had a higher ceiling than Maddison. But truth be told he looks like a non-league footballer in comparison to him.

As for "Arteta turned on the lights", I'll leave you to enjoy this song:

So-called Arsenal “fans” need to get off Havertz’s backside. He is trying and Arteta believes in him. He will click.

Maddison? Who is Maddison? He is a player who got relegated last season. Havertz has scored a winner in a UCL final, Maddison will never get a sniff of a UCL final.

Be careful what you say. At this rate Maddison might end up in the best PL XI by the end of this season whereas Havertz could feature in the worst PL XI because that's where he belongs right now with his performances up until this point this season.

No one in their right mind would take Havertz over Maddison. The latter is a better player and has achieved way more in his career. Team achievements mean nothing.

Maddison had a good game against Arsenal. Havertz can't even do that against the bum teams in the PL, so not sure where this is arrogance and chest thumping of "who is maddison" is coming from.

Maddison PL proven last 4 season in PL

Havertz has proven he's a PL donkey in last 4 seasons.

You can tell your trying your best to troll others but reality is me, @topspin @KingKhanWC are finding you comical to say the least.

So called fan boys need to stop riding havertz and arteta like they are on some sort of amusement ride. We all know your love for mediocrity and bhangra.

You going on about Maddison being relegated? So has ramsdale, he's been relegated multiple times so what irrelevant point where you trying to prove? 🤦‍♂️🤣

Mamoon has such a love for Chelsea rejects. He was doing same bhangra for David Luiz and willian in past that he's doing now for jorghino and havertz.

Won't be shocked if he's a closet Chelsea fan

Bringing up Maddison's team being relegated was a big giveaway that he was trolling.

As I said no one in the right mind would say say "Who's Maddison?", let alone take him over Havertz.

Mamoon himself knows he would rather have Maddison over Havertz but is trying to be funny about it.

Maddison has a great chance of featuring in the PL team of the year for this season whereas Havertz is going the right away to get a place in the Worst PL XI for the 23-24 season.

Even if I was a Luton supporter, I wouldn't take Havertz for free. That's how bad he is.

Maddision is 3rd on list of AM for goals and assists in last 3 seasons. Only KDB and Bruno have more in PL

Last 3 seasons up to start of this season

KDB 28 goals 36 Assists
Bruno 36 goals 16 Assists
Maddison 30 goals 22 Assists
OOddegard 23 goals 13 Assists

But yeah let mamoon keep embarrassing himself.

Even ESR has managed 10 goals in a PL season unlike Shitze havertz 🤦‍♂️

Also Maddison schooled Arsenal which makes it even more weird for him to come up with "Who's Maddison?".

I saw the player ratings for the NLD, him and Bissouma were rated 9/10 and rightly so.

Bissouma has finally started to show the player he was at Brighton. We should have signed him instead of wasting money on lakonga and jorghino.

I was saying this throughout the whole of last season. Yes he was injured last season but for a low transfer fee, absolute steal for Spurs.

Edu and Arteta have made some howlers with some of the players we've bought.

Maddison or Kudus over Havertz and Bissouma over Lakonga. Really dumb stuff.

Look at Liverpool with how they've addressed the midfield issues they had last season. That Szoboszlai looks so good.

There were only 2 x signings in the summer that really satisfied me, Rice and Timber. But with the latter injured I feel it's been quite a poor summer transfer window.

We still haven't addressed the CF issue and who's going to cover for Saka? Seems like Arteta has no plans for rotation in his position. Literally running Saka to the ground.

I will take 4th spot right now at this moment in time.

There's something wrong with how our players are being managed and trained. Our track record in racking up injuries is a reflection of that.

More injuries, Arteta saying in his press conference saliba and Vieira have knocks as well.

We don't have a large pool of defenders so saliba out will start to stretch resources with games every 3 days

Players bring over trainee or being given to many instructions in training, you see same at Chelsea. Manager trying to copy Pep and how he trains at city

Wonder who is in charge of the Sports Medical Department now that the guy we had has moved to Man United.

Signings have been hit and miss and thats one of reasons why we lost title last season. So called "depth" players were just not good enough.

In regards to Rice, Timber and Raya these are good upgrades on players we have / had so this summer we did address some of the issues.

But then instead of getting a proven quality Attacking midfielder, right winger.

You then get people defending havertz by saying he was misused and not used in right positions at Chelsea. Yet Arteta has used him in different positions and his is still .

Mamoon already did his changing his stance like he does his underwear by then saying if havetz fails it don't matter, plenty of other players have in past

It's twerking merchants like him are reason the club makes poor decisions are some fans are happy with mediocrity so the fab thing oh fans are pleased so job must be be a good one.

I reckon 2-0 Arsenal tomorrow. I feel Man City will draw tomorrow maybe 1-1
Man city will hammer wolves who are mediocre.

Arsenal dropped 5 points in 2 games before we played city at Emirates last season. Then dropped 6 points in 3 games before the game at eithad.

Arsenal can't afford to drop points tomorrow, if they do just shows how mentally weak current team is.

Our away form has been good so 3 points is a must before playing city next week

Arsenal and England midfielder Emile Smith Rowe, 23, could consider a move away from the Emirates if he does not start to play more regularly before January. (90min)

He defo should, no point wasting your career with a useless manager who would rather keep playing a donkey in havertz and a mediocre Vieira ahead of him

ESR knows he’s better than these two and he’s got a higher ceiling than them as well.

Also he’s mentally tough. Arteta’s treatment of him has been unacceptable.

I’m sure he’ll play today. I really hope he puts up a MOTM display and scores goal or 2 so Arteta can start to play him.

Same thing happened with balogun, was given very little game time. The Arteta spewed the nonsense he felt bad not giving him enough minutes and then did the same again. It's same with ESR and Nelson now.

If you look back at since Arteta has been in charge not a single "new" hale end graduate has been blooded and established themselves under Arteta.

Saka, ESR were introduced by Emery / ljungberg

Eddie and Nelson were around before those to.

A token gesture game from nwaneri and sagoe JR is all we have seen from latest talents.

We heard that xhaka was training ESR for new role in team, then arteta goes and wastes 65M on an inferior player.

If I was ESR I'd go join Brighton, Newcastle or villa as atleast you would get game time and be playing regularly.

Saliba, Rice, saka all back

Donkey havertz and donkey nketitah start 🤦‍♂️. Jesus out wide again.

If I was Nelson or ESR I'd be asking to leave in January

Certain players can stink place out and keep being picked

Pleased to see this team announced but for crying out loud give Saka some rest and let Nelson start on the left.

Arsenal are in cruise control at HT:

Arsenal 2-0 Bournemouth
Bournemouth are getting into our box was to easily, its lucky we have be clinical at other end.

Havertz needs to be taken off he's been useless.

Saka has been good.

Good first half display by Arsenal. Defensively solid.

Rice makes all the difference to me. The team loses control without him.

Saka and Odegaard are our 2 x best players ability wise but Rice is most important player in the side for me.

Bournemouth have had a lot of touches in out box, that raya save at end of half was needed. Still don't get Artetas fascination with havertz dropping stinkers again.

Elneny should come on for havertz. A cleansheet is a must today. Also gives rice chance to play further forward

Havertz once again so poor.

He can't shoot, he can't dribble, he can't pass, he can't tackle. He has no confidence on the ball.

Needs to be sold in January. I've seen enough.

Don't worry when he does score he's going to blow the roof off and the world will end due to apocalypse according a certain cheerleader

3-0 Arsenal giving out charity by letting havertz take it

Mamoon will be dancing in his underpants

Saka should have had a hat trick, probably Arteta instruction out of desperation to give him a goal.

Pathetic stuff.

I would like to have seen Saka got his hat-trick.

City have just scored :(
Clearly would have been instructions from oddegard or Arteta

No way would any other player who is regular penalty taker would give up 2 penalties

Charity penalty

Bournemouth have been shocking at the back but Nketiah has been electric today.

Arteta flogging saka like a dead horse when he's just back from injury 🤦‍♂️
