Before play began today, much of the focus was on the pitch, especially how industrial fans and heaters had been used to dry it out. The question wasn’t whether it would turn, but how much. Credit to the groundstaff, the surface allowed for a day of competitive cricket. England won the toss and chose to bat, but they quickly found themselves in trouble at 118/6. It took a remarkable 105-run partnership between Jamie Smith and Gus Atkinson, both batting superbly, to rescue England. Not only did they pull England out of a tough spot, but they also put them in a commanding position with a total of 267.

In reply, Pakistan's openers began confidently against the new ball. England's spinners initially struggled to get the same grip off the pitch, but it didn't take long for them to break through. Shafique was trapped lbw, Ayub pushed at one and edged, and Atkinson bowled Ghulam with a skidding delivery. England now holds the upper hand, as there's significant turn and variable bounce on offer, giving them plenty of confidence heading into tomorrow.

The norm would be for Pakistan to crumble under pressure and get out for less then 200. But lately we have been seeing a Pakistan outside the normal. Let's see if they continue to buck trends.

Shan Masood is gonna fall like a brick.

So it's really upto agha, Rizwan and Saud to perform.

These 3 better not dissapoint me

Setting aside all the discussions, analyses, banter, and bold predictions, it’s safe to say that Pakistani cricket fans have endured a lot over the years. At this point, we are just hoping for a miracle that sees Pakistan somehow clinch this series. As the second day of the Test match unfolds, my heart will be pounding with every delivery.

As usual after a very dark time this team is giving us a ray of hope but due to past experiunses I know to stay on the pessimistic side, if only to protect my fragile dil.

Positive vibes:
1. Second day is usually best day for Batting
2. They would know by now exactly how pitch is behaving and not to play back cross bat shot for ball occasionally keeping low
3. They are not England and won't be ultra aggressive and won't throw away wickets due to that factor. Yes, occasionally brain fart or soft dismissal like chip ball in the air but they won't give as many chances as England trying to hit boundaries every over.
4. One hundred and one fifty is all we need to get close to their total. 4 players who could potentially get 100 left and 5 who could get a fifty.
5. Nauman and Sajid are no mug either they can contribute 25 each.

It's a shame the batters lack concentration. At least with England, albeit Smith mainly, runs came fast hence good score. Saim and Shafique gave away seriously cheap wickets with no intent when no real demons. Inexcusable when both had reprieves moments earlier

All the wickets yesterday bar Ghulam were avoidable. Either bat positively or don't try and be Gordon Greenidge by batting sensibly according to the limited talent and skill.

Anything cab happen but these two need to stay much longer. There's one batsman that's been reliable but the rest need to stand up now. The match hinges on basic concentration.

Players like Abdullah and Shan are cancer for Pakistan

I rather see 10% version of Babar Azam than these two losers.

If Pakistan can get a 150 run lead they will win this match.. We know Root ain't scoring any runs on this wicket...

This dismissal was basically identical to his dismissal in the last test. Talk about not learning from your mistakes

Abdullah is a young player. You can work on him. Shan is hopeless.

He's the poster boy for mediocrity

As I mentioned yesterday most of our bottle job batsmen like scratching around and get 20 or 30 and then getting out, when it's pressure time.

4th inns will be so difficult to bat here and these dunces are struggling here on day 2

As expected Bashir is dangerous on this pitch because of his high release point. He is definitely extracting more bounce out of the surface than Leach

After a dip in form, Bashir got his confidence back at the end of the second Test by taking a few wickets. He has looked excellent here.

Pakistan should have attacked England's batting lineup to restrict them to a lower score. Now, 267 seems challenging on this pitch.

He will be dangerous in the 4th inns on this surface

Why does rizwan bat ahead of Agha? It's like having Shan Masood bat Ahead of Travis Head?

Strange inning from Shan, normally he is the one who attacks more.
Rizwan and Saud playing on merit whilst ticking the scoreboard.
