What's new

England v Pakistan | 1st Test | Lord's | Jul 14-18, 2016 | Day 1

Only Ball is bowling well, the rest have been average. Finn has been rubbish and should have been smashed around.

Finn has bowled much better after Lunch.

Maybe I'm seeing it differently as I'm at the ground but England bowlers have been generally good lengths and line.

I have no problem with this patience game but ideally they need to rotate strike better.

Can't wait for our turn to bowl.. I'm too tensed whenever we are batting

This is an advertisement for why Test Cricket is easier than the other forms of the game.

And make no mistake, these oldies are head and shoulders above the younger men here.

They don't have reflexes, but they don't need to. They are batting at 4 and 5, they won't face the new ball, they will face bowlers who aren't fresh and when they are tired these guys will cash in.

It doesn't matter if they can't hit mediocre balls for four. They can sit all day and wait for horrible ones because there is nothing in the format to make them be positive and defending simply isn't as difficult as it's made out to be.

CricketAnalyst ji you started again :))

Test cricket is more forgiving on out of form players who have sufficient core quality (for this format).

ODI cricket is more forgiving on lesser quality players as long as they have some form.

Depends on the pitch, aren't you the guy who wanted the Aussies to attack more in the 60 all out? When did Australia get all out for 60 or 47 in the 'tougher' LOI formats? Or Pakistan for 49, NZ for 45?

Trying to be funny and failing miserably

Speaking facts here, and here he is. Don't be bitter because I owned you in the Swann thread and you had to run away from the argument. It happens, move on.

If we can hammer moen here, cook will have to keep bowling the fast bowlers, they are already being overworked

There is a reason England plays with four seamer, they don't want to give a single spin over to these two...Cook Bhai throw ball to Moeen to make this session interesting... As I speak Moeen is in :))

Lol there was no "ownage"

Maybe in your own mind.

Don't hit too many boundaries, party time will be over soon otherwise... Let him go through 5/8 over spell and you will get relief ;-)

That's because they don't have the defense skills of Misbah.

I'm never saying Misbah or Younus need to hit.

CricketAnalyst will ask you how you decide who are lesser and who are higher quality players next..

These 2 may have looked untidy but they are getting runs and thats all that matters. MMHS remember that bet you made abiut Misbah with Junaids ;)

If we manage to win/draw this series. Misbah should retire with a lot of respect.

Haha.

Making a different point here.

I know it's different skills.

I'm saying when he's 43 Dre Russ will not be able to hit like this.

A Test guy can survive here because the core skill is less difficult.

By the way, the reverse is true for bowlers. They can survive longer in T20.

Never Forget this - Moeen to Rohit

66.2 56.2 mph, how abominably awful! He is bent over his bat at the crease, depicting poignant disappointment but this was a seriously poor shot. Came down and lifted a tame delivery right down mid-off's throat when England were trying to give their main bowlers a breather. And tea was barely five minutes away 210/5

Clearly ENG have strategy against Misbah. Attack on his leg stump time to time in an over.

Maybe because I have to do better things with my life, rather than raking up 60k+ posts in 4 years.

No, you were still posting in other threads. You are not getting away with this predictable, kindergarten response.

You ran away because you didn't have an answer, and now you are still bitter about it.

I don't like touching nerves though, so I'm sorry for it. Didn't mean to offend, just gave you some friendly advice because it is always better to let bygones be bygones and lick your wounds, instead of dragging them into other threads needlessly.

Great to see Pakistan doing so well. Lack of Stokes and anderson is hurting England here. Moeen bhai is rubbish.

Instead of going berserk just milk Moeen. Midwicket and long on are on the boundary for Misbah. He should just take 1
