What's new

England v Pakistan | 2nd Test | Manchester | Jul 22-26, 2016 | Day 1

What's up with bowling Yasir every over?

What are other options? Since PAK has taken the 2nd ball, still Aamir & Rahat is likely to bowl 21 overs each - that's 3 more than what should have been & Azhar has gone for 9 in 2 overs. This is not 60 overs work-out/day ala Quaid E Azam Style.

There's people who aren't watching either but keeping up with the game via this thread

Okay but anyone with cricket knowledge will know that after 80 overs the new ball is available and will more than likely be taken.:)

Nothing is working for us today.

Root is seeing ball like football now.

Not necessarily. I can think of several situations when the new ball need not be taken immediately.

Audi is now manufactured locally as well. I think it will impact the Camry/Accord market big time.

Late swing for Rahat...but runs are coming very fast on this new ball so far.

So no contribution with the new ball. Or old ball. Perhaps when all the runs have been scored in the second innings, provided Pakistan can make the English bat again, Wahab can be bothered to remove another tail ender?
Just so we know he will be our main strike weapon also in Australia.

So I just tuned in again after the first hour of the morning session

so...303/3 hmmm...... A bad day for the bowlers I guess

Batsmen must step up this game

This pitch isn't just flat, it is as dry as a bone. It will quicken up slightly though.

If ever Shan Masood, Mohammad Hafeez, Azhar Ali and Younis Khan are going to hit a century outside Asia, it's in this match.

Put differently, if they can't score big runs here, they have no future as Test cricketers.

Hafeez, Shan and Azhar together will not last more than 30 balls of Anderson

Pressurised? They don't have to pressurise them when the Pakistani bowlers have quite clearly been following through into the danger area.

Bro umpires are not that vigilant during the first innings about follow throughs., beefy and gower were on about it in the last test. England management have clearly asked the umpires to pay vigilance as the afraid of the 3 lefties making rough for yadir to exploit in their next innings. Whats wrong with that you might say? Well its like asking the umpires for favours.

100% this.

Even if your conspiracy theory is true, it's not asking them for a favour, it's asking them to follow the regulations put in place. The Pakistani bowlers shouldn't be following through into the danger area with regularity.

That's a good point. Trick is for Pakistan to still scruff those areas while being within the rule of law

England will make 550- 600 to bat Pakistan out the game.

Theres no way Pak can win this test match from here, especially with rain bound to come in to take over a couple of sessions in this match at least.

Pak should play for a draw from here, and we should hope it rains as much as possible.

England set to score 550+

Our batting is always an issue. If we have decent batting we would win atleast 25% more matches

Technically what you are saying is true but in practice for years and years if no umpires in practice have been so stringent(regarding follow throughs in the first innings) then you are effectively asking favours from the umpires.

If England pile on anywhere near 500 runs then If ever we need Misbahs Tuk Tuk innings it would be then.:misbah

Ballance has this habbit of getting under the skin of bowlers..India literally found it impossible to dismiss him when they last toured England

Pakistan would really have to bat well in first innings if we want to save this game.

Its a decent pitch to bat on bro. Hopefully Azhar and Asad can bat for a long time. Even Younis should believe he can score on this wicket

Woakes the new man in.

In an interview with Nasser earlier, Nasser mentioned only thing left for him is to get a test 100.

Woakes replied, its a bit difficult to get it from no 8 position.

THis is his chance.

I want to see Rahat and Amir go full throttle in the last few overs . Hopefully another wicket coming.

Yorkers are needed here ..:akhtar

We need to stop Root from scoring 200. If he does, the total will be beyond our reach.

2 matches, 2 flat tracks and 2 huge scores being piled up. Such tracks make some people say that Tests are boring and such Tests are boring. Of course, Pakistan can still be bundled out cheaply because they are Pakistan, I hope not.

All is forgiven bro. I don't hold grudges with anyone on this forum weather I agree with them or not.

You missed his sarcasm.

Also, people can mention things that are obvious such as 4s or 6s or wickets and details like the new ball being taken. It's a forum thread, and people will post whatever they wish to carry the convo.

Ok

Root is showing tremendous patience and resolve here. Almost a completely chance-less inning.
