England v Pakistan | 2nd Test | Manchester | Jul 22-26, 2016 | Day 1

This is why you need something different in Imran Khan jr.

Misbah so stubborn that the whole team has to suffer. But yea you got to accept that the toss played a role as well.

Imran wouldn't have made difference either.

You need world class pacers to make things happen on such pitches, which we don't have.

The main problem is wahab riaz , he never gets wickets. Pakistan need a third seamer who can get movement from the wicket or in the air without having to wait for the reverse swing.

Misbah likes to play the patient game, but England are adept at that too.

It's very difficult to tempt Cook to play false shots, and looks like Root has learned from his mistakes too.

Our four man attack will be tested now, azhar may have to fill in for quite a few overs here.

anybody watching the game who knows anything about cricket can see that amir is definitely world class. the other two... far from it

Why are we so afraid of a loss , let's play a fair game and give england a good fight. They have been waiting to win a test match against us for 6 years , they are so desperate.

Amir has world class potential, he is not world class right now. He has a lot to learn and experience to gain.

Two different things.

anyone in Pakistan team who can do left arm spin? Shan may be?

In sha llah an innings defeat coming up for Misbah and his men

So, What's in it for you if we loose by innings defeat by by 1000 runs? Can not win all the time. If England is that great team how come they did not whitewashed us in UAE and lost to Lords test

Looks like a flat and dry pitch. You need hit the deck bowlers to trouble the batsmen here. Amir and Rahat are conventional swing bowlers. Wahab needs to step up here.

Great innings ended by a great piece of bowling.

With that England have gone from 'unassailable' to merely 'miles on top' though one has to say...

Great....umpires don't even bother to check noball for Amir's wicket as they know he will never overstep again....Harsh but seems like a very effective training of 6 years :asif

Much needed wicket before tea, hopefully a typical england collapse in final session :D

losing by inninngs isn't a big issue. but getting thrashed by the teams in a same manner again and again defines us being such a rubbish team lead by a rubbish captain

Root is the key wicket here. If he bats for another two sessions, he will find enough support.

However, get him out now and there is potential for a collapse.

In other news A team is getting quite a phainti as well

Guys you don't have to be irritated by what mamoon believes , its his views you can challenge him but don't indulge in personal duels here.

if we can get another two wickets by close of play ..Then I think we have been let off ..

Is it too much to ask for Yasir to run through England and dismiss them for 275?

I understand your frustration but we do not have neither good batsmen nor aggressive captain in both A and main squad.

England should have picked an extra bowler instead of Moien Ali, Rashid would have been decent.

Moien Ali hardly contributes in either department, not sure why he is being persisted with

Cook has open the door now dont be surprised if England gets bowled out for 300 here. Yasir going to roll them over now. You heard it here.😏

Unrelated but I don't get why you hate SA but love England. 2 teams that aren't known for their bravery and are chokers (SA more so than England). Also you dislike Australia even though they are basically the opposite of South Africa because they choke the least and play the bravest cricket.

I like England as a country, it's like second home for me.

I like most things about England except their football team.

Don't like Australia because they are very sore losers and I find SA cricket extremely boring.

If it starts reversing then we have a chance against this england middle order

Someone wondered a while back why the English love Pakistani cricket. The flair, skill and exuberance, is surely attractive. Add to which a fast bowler in full flow is probably the sexiest thing in cricket. But I think it also matters that Pakistan are not ruthless, what we fans would otherwise bemoan. Australia are ruthless, or were. Also they are thugs.

I think the expectation of some fans is that Pakistan will dismiss England cheaply in every innings, completely ignoring the fact that Cook and Root are England's top 2 world class batsmen who will score most of the runs for England.

The middle order will give us chances. Need to hold on to them. The pressure on Vince and Ballance will be tremendous and we need to capitalize
