What's new

India (587 & 427/6d) defeat England (407 & 271) by 336 runs in 2nd Test at Edgbaston

Nitish is halua bowler . Lol

Better to give the bowl to jadeja or Sundar :kp

He is much better than Konstas who just plain sucks

Konstas sucks so bad

He sucks so bad that he makes washed up has been like nair look better. He should stick to playing whatever Greeks like doing. Which is eating souvlaki I guess
Sam is so bad that he will showcase ftb brook in positive light.even bishop today ridiculed his batting technique listing all his dismissals since u 19 wc

Kinstas is a tulla. Not proper test player and I'm surprised Aussies persist with him.

For some posters hitting few fancy shots is definition of talented players. :kp

They tried a proper opener in bgt first 2 matches . I forgot his name.bumrah manhandled him and aus selection committee thought to throw a random ftb in to mix. They are doing more harm with these quick random fixes

Strong day for us. Need to keep attacking early tomorrow morning. We can't let these two dictate play

52 runs partnership .

England is still trailing by 510 runs , a long way to go , before they will feel safe. England have to bat the whole day tomorrow to be safe.

Hope you enjoyed this test so far. Can't wait for day 3 until then Keep reading your old post in this thread . Good night :kp
Lol thanks....but I have got one thing for sure after been through this thread, you guys haven't forgotten my BGT spoiler thread....and some have even asked me to be on guillotine like Rajdeep lol

I hope no England fan goes to bed crying tonight .
The pitch might start turning a lot more by day 4 & that would be real nice .
- 510 for 3 !

They survived the storm.

Tmr they will be fresh and pitch will be even easier to bat on

England lose top-order wickets after Gill's 269

England's top order was blown away after Shubman Gill's mammoth 269 for India to leave the hosts requiring their most unlikely turnaround yet under captain Ben Stokes after two days of the second Test at Edgbaston.

Gill's epic helped India pile up 587 and, after five sessions in the field, Ben Duckett, Ollie Pope and Zak Crawley all fell to leave England 77-3 at the close.

Duckett and Pope, England's centurions from their comeback win in the first Test, were caught in the slips off consecutive deliveries in seamer Akash Deep's second over.

Crawley wafted at Mohammed Siraj to offer another edge on 19 as India, who faced huge questions coming into this Test, took total control.

Harry Brook was skittish in making 30 not out - he finished alongside Joe Root who has 18 - and could easily have deepened England's woes.

Gill had earlier effortlessly compiled the highest score by an India batter in England and the highest score by an Indian skipper anywhere in the world.

After resuming on 114, Gill extended his partnership with Ravindra Jadeja to 203 to steer India away from early danger and when Jadeja fell for 89, he put on 144 with Washington Sundar to drive home the advantage.

India were guilty of letting a winning position slip in Leeds but now hold all of the cards as they bid to level the series.

I thought you stopped posting. :inti

You are not a man of word I guess.
Everyone predicted he'd be back before 2nd test which is what happened.

The whole he has a job now is such a cope.

He went into hiding during BGT as well. Will continue going into hiding if India loses badly

At 169/(4 or 3 ) ,Vihari dropped catch of bairstow and he went on to make century .

Lol, you make it sound like dropping catches is only exclusive to India and that Pakistan has never dropped catches.

With no Archer and Wood, this was meant to be
====

The highest total against England in the Bazball era!

However, England won the three previous times they conceded a 500+ total 👀

Was there till hour before close of play. England looked very flat in the field, but credit to Gill and Jadeja for putting india in the box seat.

Two bowlers really surprised me for their deceptive Pace. Josh Tongue, and Deep for India, really drived through the crease with their follow through, hence hitting the bat hard.

Spinners will determine how the match will go. I don't think seamers will get much out with older ball.

All the bookies still think England will win at odds 6:1 😮

It's time to earn a quick buck, make your bets 💲

Gills application at the crease has surprised me somewhat. Used to think he had concentration issues which led him to throw his wicket.

So far it's a masterstroke by Team indias Selectors to hand him the captaincy which as helped him to take the added responsibility in his batting.

If England can bat out the whole day tomorrow (which I think they should), they should be okay.

England should try to score 700-750 and make India bat on Day 5.

No sweep_shot bro Eng would ask for 900-1000. Then it is game over of India 😔

Lol, you make it sound like dropping catches is only exclusive to India and that Pakistan has never dropped catches.
Its the costly damage after dropping. Sachin in 2011 semis, Anwar in Eden Gardens, sehwag in multan etc are punishments.

India completely destroyed England’s top order. Root as usual is providing them solidity but one more wicket and India will likely take a lead of 200 runs. This is humiliation for the usual suspects who were undermining this Indian team. :inti

It’s a desi thing

Actually no

Only Indians and Pakistanis drop catches a lot in sena tours. Always has been issues with catching and fielding due to lack of effort in training

Lankans always caught and fielded well.

Also fitness standards have lower requirements in Asia for some reason. Only kohli changed that and look how good is team did 5 years they won the mace in tests

As soon as rohit came over fitness went to crap again

Pakistan in general always ignored fielding and catching. Cost their bowlers plenty of wickets

Josh tongue bowled great pace

133 to 144 all day

Average probably 139

Deep bowled quick too.
134 to 142 so far.

If India win this then bumrah doesn’t deserve an automatic entry into the team

7 day gap and still chose to rest

Needs to be punished.

More than his pace his lines are quite threatening for bazball ftbs who likes to keep their bat hanging all the time.they just dont want to leave the ball.Even in india, he took 3 wickets on debut in opening spell.

It is more to do with him playing at Lords no matter what. Nobody wants to miss a Lords test. . HE is also India's main weapon for world cup 2027. Instead of permanently breaking him down they play it smart. THat's okay. My problem is omission of Kuldeep.

Even without rain, it should be a draw. :inti

Pitch is very flat. Even Ashok Dinda can score a century here probably.
India dropped 9 catches in the first game

That’s why they lost

Catches win matches

If you drop so many it will bite you. This match they caught well so far

If India keeps this up they might get lucky to draw this one

Because bazzball is scary. They would smash Wasim and Imran with ease on flat pitches and make them look like mohammed musa and haris rauf in tests.

Same Gill struggled against Starc, Hazlewood, and Cummins.

Gill faced a rookie English attack on a flat pitch. That helped I guess. :inti

Dint gill smash the same attack at their best in 2021 though and helped India win a series in Aus?
Something Aus hasn’t been able to do in India for the last 21 years

But I am not fully convinced with gill yet
He needs to show more in seaming tracks

Maybe !umber 4 is his role

How this bozo kohli was allows to hog the spot and just stifle young talent’s chances of making the team is beyond me.

Pathetic desi mentality of supporting sooperstars

England will close in today. Record partnership is coming right up

But what about the Eng bats facing a no name Indian bowling and is at 77/3 sweep_shot bro 😔

It was not in his hands. It was Gambhir's decision not to play him in this test.

England is in trouble, and the guys who can steer them out of trouble are out there, Brook and root..
England still favourites to win
They can pile up 500 plus given it’s a flat pitch

Bazzball goats on flat pitches

India will then be tired and go into a shell

If India take catches properly then maybe draw

If not England wins by chasing a record 450 in second innings

They are that good. Goat bazzballers on flat tracks

Kron criticising means India is winning this test

Need to takes 3 wickets in the morning session and please Bowl with a plan( Off stump line) instead bowling on leg side. :kp

Yes it India want to win this test, then they must give follow on to england
Nobody will ask opponents to do a follow on a flat pitch as the bowlers get burnt out easily. After kolkata 2001, most of the teams stopped asking follow on.

I dont even get what india's plan is? They have to get england out quickly.

But on this flat pitch can both sides really bowl each other out 2x? Especially with pending rain incoming?

Then India have slim chance of victory... if India has to win this test then they have to take 17 England wickets

If Brook goes crazy, England will score 450 runs today.

Agree. We need major contributions from these Two. And with the ball being oldish, there's no reason why England can't pull themselves back in to the Game. First hour will be critical.

India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja opened up about the heated exchange of words he had with England captain Ben Stokes on Day 2 of the second Test at Edgbaston. The flair of spice and entertainment is slowly taking over the on-field proceedings, with England players resorting to mind games. After Stokes had a verbal exchange with Yashasvi Jaiswal on the opening day, the English skipper was at it once again after Chris Woakes complained to the on-field umpires about Jadeja.

The English players alleged that Jadeja was landing on the danger area of the pitch, leaving marks in the process. The hosts were concerned that Jadeja's actions were deliberate as Stokes pointed out to the all-rounder, "Look what you have done, mate."

Jadeja defended himself and claimed, "But I was coming from here. I won't bowl there anyway. Why would I do that? My focus is on batting?" Jadeja addressed the on-field conversation he had with Stokes and claimed that it wasn't his intention to make roughs on the surface.

"He feels that I am making it rough for myself. In fact, he was making it rougher by using fast bowlers. I didn't have to make it rough. He was repeatedly telling the umpire that I was running on the wicket. But that was not my intention. I ran here and there a few times. But that was in his mind. Hopefully, if we get a chance tomorrow, we will try to bowl in good areas. And we will try to play as well as we can," Jadeja told reporters after the end of the second day's play.

Jadeja played the supporting act during his rollicking 203-run partnership with captain Shubman Gill. Jadeja held onto his end, which allowed Gill to express himself freely and tantalise England's inexperienced attack.

His exploits came to a bitter end after he attempted to pull the ball while facing a rip-roaring short-length delivery from Josh Tongue. With extra pace and bounce, Jadeja hurried into his shot and gloved it to wicketkeeper Jamie Smith to return with 89(137). Even after agonisingly falling short of a century, Gill's 269 fuelled India's innings to an imposing 587.

lol, Jadeja for that reply.

Stokes as ever, is a sore loser.

People have had become extreme in their views to test cricket over the years.

People are talking about batting the whole day, individuals scoring triple century, scoring over 500-600 batting second as if it is routine in cricket. You still need the skills and determination to cash in on a phatta.

Scoreboard pressure is a very real.

Not everyone has become like that. Only these plastic T20 fans talk like that. Old connoisseurs know that test cricket is hard grind and these hyperboles don't mean much.
