England Vs New Zealand | 2nd Test | Old Trafford

You'd think by now England would've learnt to bowl on seaming wickets...

Sidebottam really TIGHT ;-)
Anderson - a bit unlucky but expensive

Monty to be strike bowler soon!

England expecting to WIN this test... old trafford being their win ground.. according to Vaughan

see how it goes.. i can see a Draw - rain and slow batting guaranteed!

Not very slow so far!

^ thats cus England aint batting ;-)

NZ play like tests like they are an odi anyways

NZ 71-0

Team batting 1st at OT needs to get about 400....good toss to win.

Really do not like England's kit.

talking of kits.. NZ seem to have the best kits.. even their test shirts have that feather thing on them, like a hologram thinggi

80-0

50 up for How.

Its all happening at Old Trafford...it really is, honest to God.....

At least we won't have the hammering that Pakistan received here, when they put up a huge total in the first innings and in the second innings succumbed to Harmlesson and Pantsesar.....

Only Pakistan could make that pitch look like a trampoline...

Sidebottom bowls Redmond for 28

80-1

Leave alone shot - and the bails are clipped.

Intelligent stuff.

Unfortunately you're alarmingly close to the truth. There's evidence to suggest that Peter Moores seems to think that the correct scoring rate for Test cricket is around 2 runs per over. England didn't even manage that for long periods in New Zealand, and that was against a bowling attack that by Test standards was pretty ordinary, on pitches that were hardly a nest of vipers.

Where will this team be with out Sidebottom?

anyways NZ are off to a very good start considering the fragillty of their top order and the strength of their lower order.

So i am thinking of getting zee sports to watch this test match. I would have done it had Flintoff or Harmi of 04-05 and Shane Bond been playing but now i am not sure if i should pay $30 to watch these 2 tests and the 5 ODIs.
Any suggestions? Is it worth it?

watch the highlights on utube! or get free internet streaming! forget subvscribing

damn how gone

Last Wicket: Jamie How c Ambrose b Anderson 64(110) - 102/3 in 32.3 ov.

now nz batting should start :p or after one more wkt?

Panesar made to look like Danish Kaneria and is being owned my McCullum....

But, un-Kaneria like, Panesar takes the wicket of McCullum...

131-4

Eng lost last 4 wkts for 50 runs.

NZ are a very poor side.

The umpires are looking at the ball again. Hair and Taufel discussing its shape. The fourth umpire is out there now.

Cricinfo...

Hair looking at the shape of the ball, the last time he did it, he forefeited the game.....

Rain in the air....

Hair has a smile on his face....

I'd like to wipe it off for him....

this isn't IPL my friend.
mccullum being found out again - just cant play a good test innings.

Flynn hit by Andersen. Ball went through th grill and there is some blood.

Hit around the mouth and commentators thinking he might have lost a tooth

seriously these nz batters cant play pace to save their lives

same thing happened in the last year or so

one of the nz batsmen tried to hook a short ball away
ended up hittin in the face

who was it? how?

I am just listening to audio so I didn't see it
First was Flynn vs Andersen. Flynn is back in pavilion
Now Oram comes and Andersen hits him on the head but he is okay

NZ - 140 for 4 (40.5 overs)

Commentator now saying he is hearing that Flynn has lost a tooth

Now the radio people are trying to solve tooth mystery. Where did it go?
One guy is asking what if the tooth fell on the bail with some force will he be out?

They have come up with an answer now. Player can be out by the ball, equipment or body. If the tooth is out and dislodges a bail then it is not part of the body anymore. I think they declared it not out

Rain stopped play. A great pity because I was really enjoying that session. Some proper cricket, a decent pitch with a bit of life in it, attacking bowling, and excellent counter-attacking batsmanship from Taylor.

Early tea was taken and no sign of resumption yet. It had been drizzling for a while so they are lucky that this was the only stoppage and it was close to tea. umpires did come out but the covers were still on and they have gone back

about the weather: you would think ECB, would not play during RAIN season?

EVERY year its the same bull$h!t

Who the eff makes ECB's pitches these days??? :pissed:

All dem flattrackers - where are the greentops?
where are the underprepared Edgbastons of yore???

where is that treacherous grassy Headingley pitch??

which insomniac is making these imposter English wickets?

It looks a decent enough pitch to me. Some quite entertaining stuff today I thought.

@Big Harvey - we want collapssessss

The best summer of cricket was 2000 - teams getting bowled out for 54 and 61 and 76. Now thats entertaining.

Good start by the hobbits today. Taylor moving along nicely, on 80 now.

225-4

Taylor is finally starting to do some justice to his talent it seems.

224/4 is very good going by hobbit standards, they should get 350+ here.

England not having it as easy as they thought.

100 partnership between Oram and Taylor; two of the mainstays of the Hobbit batting order.

236-4

Well, to be fair to him, it's only his 7th test so it's a little early to cast a judgment, but yes he does have talent and is demonstrating it at the moment. He could get his 2nd century against England if he goes on today.

91 off 106 now

Oram runs himself out after getting a life from a dropped chance in the previous over. Wasteful stuff.

249-5

Wow. Vettori doesn't ground his bat and his foot is in the air. Another run-out, another crazy bit of running. 250-6.

Unbelievable running from Vettori. What on earth was he thinking not grounding his bat?!

Kindergarten running. School boys are repeatedly told to ground their bat.

Suicidal! What the hell are they playing at? All the hard work undone. Poor, poor, poor cricket by NZ.

Mills has to contribute here, a 20-odd and a partnership of 50+ with Taylor is vital for N.Z's chances.

Indeed. Showing why they are ranked only above the West Indies and Bangladesh in Tests...

I still can't believe those run-outs. With Oram, there wasn't even a misunderstanding. Just laziness on his part. Vettori's was just totally sloppy running. Shocking stuff.

Oram just hasn't looked up for it in this game so far, has he?

Mills playing his part, while Taylor's a bit bogged down nearing his 100.

Partnership of 25 with Mills contributing 19.

275-6

What a cracking cover drive by Mills off Teeth Breaker Anderson.

290-6

Mills 33
Taylor 97

Wonderful century by Taylor. Seems to be coming off age now. Well played.

Very talented player - I didn't know he had only played 7 Tests so guess I was basing the assessment more on his ODI form. My bad.

322/6 at lunch

81 overs so they're going at almost four an over

Ross on 115, Mills on 46

Panesar and Anderson 2-191 off 38 overs, between them

New Zealand have really taken the game to England, and England are losing the plot. Great entertainment, but shocking fielding from England. This is looking like a continuation of the unsatisfactory form we saw in the winter.

Taylor pulls another six off Anderson

374/8, Ross on 148

Takes a single off the last ball, so that the world's best batsman, Chris Martin, avoids strike!

Gotta agree there Harvey, nice entertainment but the fielding has been poor

A decent total, but had it not been for those stupid run-outs, it could have been 450+ and England would have been looking down the barrel. We still might be of course...
