What's new

India (445 & 430/4d) defeat England (319 & 122) by 434 runs in third Test to take 2-1 lead in five Test match series

Easy chase coming for Bazball, especially with Ashwin coming back.

:kp

BCCI arranged a chartered plane for Ashwin to be with his mother. And then arranged his return to the ground earlier today.

Good gesture from them.

The commentary is making England look bigger than they actually are.

We will look to chase whatever score comes? Lol. They haven't posted a proper batting score in 5 innings so far to walk the talk.
Only English commentator

So Eng will bat 41 overs today and another 90 tomorrow. Total 131 overs.

Watch England fold for 230 in 50 overs. Bazball at work full throttle.

This looks like the flattest pitch India has produced in a decade. So far in this series England has batted better in the second innings.

Will Rohit place a fielder on the boundary on the off side for Duckett?

Sir Alastair Cook, speaking on TNT Sports:

"England will set out their stall to try and win this game. There's no point trying to argue, this is the way they're going to play.

"The draw is a reasonable tactic, but Ben Stokes has said he's not playing for draws - he'll look at those 550 runs and try to get them.

"How do they actually go about doing that? Ultimately they've got to survive this first 40 minutes before tea, get through it with no damage.

"The only way they're going to get anywhere near this total - a one in a thousand chance - is by building a partnership and laying a massive foundation at the top of the order today."

It's jealousy.

Manjrekar was originally considered to be the next big thing from Mumbai, the heir to Gavaskar, before Sachin left him in the dust.

Do you remember his iconic innings of 20(43) in the 1996 QF
Yeah, almost lost us that game before Jadeja took over and blasted Waqar all over the park

420 in the first Test was good (matchwinning). 292 in the fourth innings of the second Test wasn’t a bad effort either, in the circumstances and compared to other historical efforts. It’s the first dig that has been a big letdown from England.

Eng may just play for a draw and that will be the right decision.
If they get a few boundaries going they will start Bazzballing. For now they seem to be watchful, with deliveries straying down leg side being dispatched for boundaries.

Barring a Pope masterclass, England don't have much to look for in first three tests.

Hartley's spell was fluke, he is a mediocre spinner. Duckett piled those runs on a really flat deck at the best possible time of the game and yet didn't made a difference. Root and Stokes have disappointed immensely.

India should gift them some early boundaries so that they quickly get into the Bazball mood and then start falling like a pack of cards.

Yet another run out in this game.

WICKET! Duckett run out 4 - England 15-1

WICKET! Crawley lbw b Bumrah 11 - England 18-2

India eke out a second on the stroke of tea, Crawley gone lbw to Bumrah - given out on field and confirmed by DRS but only just... umpire's call by the barest of margins, the ball clipping the top of leg stump.

I’ve noticed you jump to conclusions and make harsh comments quite often. Not accepting this revisionism. England fans are pleased with all that’s been mentioned here and some other individual performances as well. There haven’t been soft runs and flukey performances when England have won - that was an excellent win. The main disappointment from England has been the middle order.

It's not a coincidence that only top order (1-3) has been able to perform well for England. Indian new ball bowling has been ineffective for quite some time across all formats. Even Bumrah struggles to get early breakthrough on regular basis.

They have bowled well with old ball (30 overs onward) and that has resulted in middle order woes.

A humbling defeat is coming up by 300+ runs. England need to go back to the introspective mode they entered after losing the first Test to South Africa in 2022. They batted sensibly in that series after an innings loss and bounced back very well. England fans were widely predicting that the team would lose this series 5-0 so there is still a chance for their expectations to be further exceeded.

When will this Test end?
Tonight
Tomorrow before lunch
Tomorrow after lunch
What? England are winning

4th option is cruel.

For all Bazball hyperboles, India have dominated the 3 test matches upto now. Hyderabad was a daylight robbery aided by some incompetent Indian batting. The Bazball PR machinery need to calm down.

I would like to see some tough defensive batting from England now please. The pitch isnt bad

India is in the driving seat now. 2 wickets down, 8 to go.

Here we go again. 1st Test revisionism.

It won’t wash.

The only 3 English batsmen to have averaged over 40 till this innings have been dismissed.

Time for the English middle order to turn up, otherwise this will turn into a classic 90s England “lads on tour” batting collapse where everyone ends up with an extra day off…

Well, it might have sound bitter for fans but it's a harsh truth. England have been poor in the last two tests. I never said that the first test win was a fluke. I am willing to appreciate Pope 's knock as I have mentioned this as "masterclass" regularly.

Hartley is not a top level spinner and his performance in this series barring that one inning was lackluster. It was indeed a fluke spell helped by some mediocre batting too.

India have been a dominant team in second and third test inspite of pitches being very sporting and provides an evenly balance of bat and ball( pace and spin both). The Bazball has failed here as Stokes, Root and Bairstow with bat have been lackluster in this series.

Got no problem with anyone saying that India have been better in Tests 2 and 3, particularly in this one which has been a battering. But I’m not appreciative of language that tries to minimise the England win in the first Test. That is lazy and a falsehood.

This Yorkshire duo have been hopelessly bad until now.

Edit: Bairstow gone.

I think Bairstow is close to the end now. Horror World Cup and now struggling even as a pure batter. Nearly 35 as well.

Bairstow brain scrambled.

Think he might lose his place.

Should have called it a day after his glorious 2022 summer when he scored loads of centuries and then broke his leg. Was never going to be the same player again. Has been outperformed as a wicketkeeper and isn’t scoring runs now either. Needs to be retired.

Jadeja continues to be relentless in whatever he does on a cricket field in whites.

LOL

WICKET! Bairstow lbw b Jadeja 4 - England 28-4
Thanks for coming, Jonny!

He avoids the pair, but doesn't hang around much longer, falling lbw to his third ball to start Jadeja's next over when missing with an attempted sweep.

He immediately starts walking before a quick check with Root, who wisely advises him not to review.

England are seriously low on confidence. To lose on this pitch will hurt them and it would take a huge effort to compete in the last two Tests.
Let's see if they can show the same resilience they displayed in the last three Ashes Tests.

Don't notice the baiters. Still a couple of matches to go but this definitely has been one of the best English teams to tour India since the great Cook-Pietersen-Swann-Panesar-Anderson teams more than 10 years ago.

Of course they've been helped by facing an Indian team in the middle of a profound transition in both it's batting and pace bowling but they've definitely given us some scares so far.

If sarfaraz and jurel played in first match result will be different

England should bring Brook in at all costs. Bairstow is not keeping anyway. Root at least contributes as a 5th bowler.

YJB is the weakest member of this XI.
Haven't u see brooks in ipl.and wc.He can't play chahal spin,so he will fare worse than Ybj.As a srh fan, I have enough trauma with that guy's batting against spin.
