Bairstow shares a friendly exchange with Kuldeep Yadav, who responds with a smile, while Shubman Gill also greets him warmly. Despite facing challenges, it has turned out to be an exceptional day for India.

Considering the unexpected absence of Ashwin due to a family medical emergency last night, the day unfolded in a way nobody could have predicted. The bowlers played a pivotal role, taking advantage of a couple of loose shots from Root and Stokes, ultimately bowling out England and securing a lead of 126 runs.

Despite initially having the hosts on the back foot, England squandered their advantageous position, turning what could have been a decisive day in the match and series into a favorable situation for India. Instead of capitalizing on Ashwin's absence, England now finds themselves in a challenging position, battling to salvage the game.

Great chance for India to post a huge total( around 500) as Gill, Sarfaraz and Jadeja hold key for them.

Need to play attacking cricket.
45 over 175 + runs so set a target around 480+ with 130 over remaining

India needs at least 500 to defend in the 4th innings. Pitch is still flat and batsmen can score rapidly if they desire to.
India is also a bowler short. So India needs as much cushion as possible to offset Ashwin’s absence.

Also the second half of the day usually is very easy for batsman. Yesterday, Jaiswal and Gill scored lot of runs while day before yesterday, Duckett had lot of fun.

India will win with anything above 350.

Apparently Ashwin's likely to fly back in today. If he's able to bowl tomorrow, that will be huge since it's likely to be big slog of a day.

We should target a quick 125 in 25 to get ourselves 475 plus and declare.

That'll give them enough to work with both runs and overs-wise.

This kuldeep guy is playing some heavy and nice strokes. Lead extended to 362 now.

Bazball defenders :- India have 350+ runs lead and they are still scared to declare. That's Bazball effect, that's what England have achieved under Stokes captaincy :stokes

Update - Ravichandran Ashwin is on the way back to Rajkot .Ashwin will join the team today

have you watched the match at all ? This is a flat deck & still 76 overs left in the day ...

The BCCI has now confirmed Spinner Ravichandran Ashwin will return to the Test today, having withdrawn before day three for a family emergency.

"The team management, players, media and fans have shown immense understanding and empathy, acknowledging the importance of family as a priority," the BCCI said.

"The team and its supporters have stood united in support of Ashwin during this challenging period, and the management is delighted to welcome him back to the field."

LOL...kuldeep has done it for England here. Got a set batter out in the 90s.

Now soon Kuldeep will get out. Sarfaraz and Jadeja will be in soon.

Jaiswal scored a century and went back to pavilion and now is fresh to score another 100 :ROFLMAO:

Night watchman runs out pure batsman :ROFLMAO:

Masterstroke from Stokes by not taking that review VS Kuldeep

Ok, on watching the replay. Gill ran himself out. Kuldeep's not at fault. :sanga

56 runs 17 overs today .... these guys need to start scoring - new ball after 12 overs

India is in a good position here to win this game. Just need to bat till tea and goo all guns blazing in the 2nd session to make a huge target on the board.

I like how Kuldeep is defending so well and helping India save this test match :afridi

What a waste of time. 27 of 93 balls. England shouldn't have appealed.

Kuldeep is gone. Root has another wicket.

WICKET! Yadav c Root b Rehan 27 - India 257-4

Sarfaraz in ... incidentally he looks younger than Rehan - 384/4 - 67 overs left - surely Rohit would want to bowl 45 today ...

SOmthing's happening with the pitch. The bounce isnt as tame as it was a fw overs ago

Field is spread so four five single is easily available without taking any risk

Root is sending down his 100th over of the series.

Good strategy from us. Killing time is also important so as not to give Bazbatters too many overs to chase.

We may get them all out even on 5th day if they stay committed to Bazball.

Need minimum 550 to shut England completely out of this test.

Our batting is in any case not too great that we can force the pace at will.

Indian batsmen are quite relaxed, pushing for singles now and then.

But the fans are getting impatient arent they. :afridi
