What's new

Liverpool FC 2025/26 Season

Poor stuff from Salah. I did suspect Liverpool's bad form may have stemmed from Slot losing the dressing room.

Not sure about slot losing the dressing room though. I reckon it's a combination of new players taking longer than expected to settle at the club and off course the biggest issue for me is the drop off in form of their Two rocks of consistency VVD and Salah. No one would have expected the latter, which has really scrambled Slots thinking and tactics and a muddled Philosophy.

Tonight has proved my point - everyone put in a shift defensively and we kept a clean sheet. Forget entertaining football, focus on being hard to beat for time being.

You cannot defend with 10 men. Teams worked it out second half of last season and first half of this season.

After all the recent drama, there was tons of pressure on us tonight but we finally showed some backbone. Brighton are an excellent team so another tough test awaits.

Baldy gets another week thanks to Bastoni. It was a very soft penalty.

Back to system employed by managers 15-20 years ago. I think I fell asleep watching at one point.

About time we got a decision. We've had some shockers against us recently.

IMO we should continue with this system as leaking goals has been our biggest problem. That was like a typical Euro away under Houllier and Benitez.

We did look solid and no alarm bells from Konate. I thought Jones was superb in that midfield role. He looks to have matured this year and looks to pass the ball on much quicker now.

More so, the Konate goal that was denied was a very soft decision.

Wirtz shirt pull was clearly not a Pen and the Konate goal should have stood.

This was a good win beating inter at the san siro is an excellent result team looked solid , if this style works for slot he needs to stick to it i dont see salah fitting into this system a shame but then there's no point beating about the bush offload in January but hopefully the departure can come with some hugs and reconciliation

Now its Brighton a tough team and it's the premier league where we have look suspect at the back

Above and beyond I don't know what is to laugh about like nunez ,slot doesn't see salah in his system and his tactics and style of football .

Salah worked in klopps system but they are 2 different managers.

Now question is can slot stop the rot in the premier league ?

And can he go on and be able to compete and win trophies or at least make sure liverpool be a continous top 4 finish and atm the way this season is going out the jury is out .

But obviously our owners want to cash in on salah since those funds and wage bill saved will most likely fund the moves for semenyo and guehi.

Inter's slow play, slow pressing was just what we needed. Liverpool played well enough to win , which was badly needed for the club. Win the remaining home games, top 8 is very possible.

Brighton will be a tougher test.

I presume you didnt watch any of last season?

Salah had his best season ever, and that was under Slot. The issue with Salah this season is both related to his own form and the integration of the new players which requires chemistry to build cohesion.

Salah had his best season because Slot had no input into the team, he was following Klopp's blueprint with players he had left behind. The moment he has stepped away from that this season, we can see what his true abilities are. They won yesterday because Inter was content in not pressing hard. That will not be the case against Brighton. And also, let's be honest, playing the style from 20 years ago, will not win you anything these days. It never did us then either apart from cups here and there.

Thats ridiculous. Klopp didnt exactly set the world on fire. One Title in Nine seasons. Since winning the Title in covid, he was rather disappointing. Actually, Slot winning the title further undermined klopp, what he couldn't do for four seasons, this guy did in his first season.

Liverpool conceding late late goals in alot of their recent defeats is down to the concentration levels of the Players than on Slot in my opinion.

Stats suggest if Salah wasnt in the team last season, Liverpool would have finished in the bottom half. Of course another player could have scored /assisted a few but not to his level. He was just phenomenal.

It seems Slot is still trying to figure out a method of playing. Klopp played 4-3-3 with high press, high energy football. Slot has played 4/5 different formations, chopping and changing players, continue to play players who are in terrible form because of the high spend. He's lucky he has some quality world class players who try hard and even with a confused manager they can win the odd matches.

I'd be shocked if Slot wins another major trophy a LFC.

Indeed. Salah literally won a PL title for Liverpool on his own, much like Cantona did in some years at united. Slot looks a lost soul after spending £400 million, replacing quality proven PL players with unproven ones. Only Ekitike looks a decent buy.

Watching yesterday reminded me of Houllier and Benitez days. No titles will be won playing that these days, nor did we back then either.

We can agree Salah should not have gone to the press…however Carragher went overboard and made it a personal vendetta. Can’t stand him. Insufferable to listen to.

Erm won carabao cup , and fa cup

Lost the title by a whisker to man city

And lost a final to real Madrid

All in 2022

He simply came up against a heavy spending top man city side he had to compete against guardiola at his best.

Plus he was never backed the sameway these yanks have blown transfer records for baldy from feynoord and even those signings make nunez look like Maradona.

Liverpool parade attacker jailed for more than 21 years for ploughing car into fans

A British man who injured more than 130 people by ploughing his car into a crowd of Liverpool soccer fans during May's Premier League victory parade was jailed for 21-and-a-half years on Tuesday, after admitting 31 criminal charges over the incident.

Paul Doyle drove into the mass of fans – hitting adults and children, who bounced off his vehicle or were dragged underneath it – simply because he lost his temper, prosecutors said.

He last month pleaded guilty to charges including nine counts of causing grievous bodily harm with intent and 17 counts of attempting to cause grievous bodily harm.

Prosecutor Paul Greaney on Monday said Doyle was "a man in a rage whose anger had completely taken hold of him" when he injured 134 people including eight children, causing horror on "a day of joyfulness".

His lawyer Simon Csoka told the court Doyle was "remorseful, ashamed and deeply sorry". He also cited positive character references from those who knew Doyle, saying: "It is part of the paradox of this case ... they all find his actions incomprehensible and so utterly unlike the man that they know."

Doyle, 54, sat in the dock at Liverpool Crown Court as Judge Andrew Menary said: "It is almost impossible to comprehend how any right-thinking person could act as you did.

"To drive a vehicle into crowds of pedestrians with such persistence and disregard for human life defies ordinary understanding."

UKRAINIAN SAYS SHE LOST SENSE OF SAFETY SHE FELT IN UK

Greaney told the court on Monday that around a million people had come out to celebrate Liverpool's 20th English league title, watching an open-top bus parade featuring the team and its staff with the Premier League trophy.

Doyle drove into the city centre to pick up friends who had been to the parade before. At nearly 6 p.m., in an attack lasting 77 seconds, he ploughed into the crowd while shouting, swearing and beeping his horn as he repeatedly struck pedestrians.

One of Doyle's victims was Anna Bilonozhenko, who was struck by his Ford Galaxy and required surgery for a fractured knee, and who had left Ukraine for Britain in 2024.

"We came to this country because of the war in our homeland, hoping to finally feel safe," she said in a statement read on her behalf. "At first, we did but now that feeling has been taken away ... it feels like losing our safety all over again."

Others who were caught up in the incident described the long-term effects on themselves and their loved ones, saying they were unable to work, care for their families, be in crowded places or watch Liverpool.

PROSECUTORS AND JUDGE HAIL LIFE-SAVING 'HERO'

Doyle was briefly a member of the Royal Marines in the early 1990s before being discharged after several convictions for violence, though prosecutors said that by the time of the incident he was a "family man" who had turned his life around.

It was another former soldier, Daniel Barr, who stopped Doyle's vehicle by jumping into the back of the car and putting it into park, actions Menary said were "outstandingly brave" and prevented further injuries and possibly saved lives.

Specialist Prosecutor James Allison, of the Crown Prosecution Service Mersey Cheshire's Complex Casework Unit said Barr was "a man who can truly be described as a hero".

Barr, however, said in an interview with the BBC before Doyle was sentenced that he was not a hero and every man he saw "was trying to do the same."

Works out to be £130m with solidarity payments, maybe a bit more considering Isak will rightly not be getting his loyalty bonus

I actually don't feel anywhere near as bad as I thought I would

Maybe it's because I've been expecting this deal to happen so came to terms with it a while ago, I even said last week I think £120m plus some add ons gets the deal (I even said last month when players push for a move they mostly get it)

There is a lot of anger amongst our fans but for me it's quite simple, Newcastle United was there before Isak and it will be there after him

I'm not going to blame the club like I did when we sold Carroll to them. This is very different, this situation has been engineered by Liverpool, Isak and his agent from the start. And ultimately players do hold the main card, which is stepping on to that pitch.

His behaviour meant an exit was the right thing and exit this summer was the right thing. Yes, we could have held on for another 6/12 months but what would we have gained from that? An extra £15m/£20m? Which considering the distraction and the cloud that would followed through the season isn't worth that much

We have doubled our money on him, our PSR situation will be very healthy in the medium term, we can fully focus our energy on the players that are at the club (well, a little bit of energy on hate watching too :ROFLMAO:).

We also know he's not the most robust, if he keeps picking up those niggles it may turn out to be a poor buy from Liverpool and suddenly the £130m will look even better.

After the news of his latest injury the £130m is looking like a cracking deal from our side

Though bit mixed when it comes to what we spent it on

Tbh bhai, Injuries like thesw are freak events, it happens, was a sublime finish but unfortunately he will miss time now. The key is to get him ready for next season In sha Allah.

Ekitike will now have a clear starting role

Absolutely, it's just bad luck (or Karma according to Simon Jordan :ROFLMAO: )

Of course when selling him you can never predict these things

But first season has been a failure however he's still young and has many years left to repay his faith

I do agree, in a strange way for Liverpool it could be a blessing as Ekitike is the main man and they won't be under pressure to play the £125m player ahead of him

Spot on!

Karma, lol... i am sure that spurs fans felt the same for Sol Campbell or Barca with Figo... if only it was so simple!

Time is on hia side!

I would be surprised if he was back before the season finished.

Smarter move is a head start for next season and pre season

Isak will be back, very unlucky .

But you’ve spent most of that on a German donkey who can’t run but can pop up and score with his nose . With Isak you got top 4.

Now finishing ahead of Sunderland is your target

Have seen some Newcastle fans celebrating Isak’s injury. Despicable people.
The glee is pretty sickening. They got lot of money for him and yet they harbour such poisonous thoughts.

small people, small minds, no wonder they are generational losers, may they continue to be so for generations to come.

Disagree, woltemade has solid potential...

As for Sunderland, they will never be a bigger (or better) club than Newcastle

German donkey? You clearly haven't been watching him or you are just weirdly bitter about something

I'll go with bitter

Woltemade has been a very good signing for us, 9 goals in December is a solid return in his debut season

You'd kill for your German donkey to have half his goal return

What does it say about Liverpool fans that were happy Trent got injured for Madrid? Or the Liverpool fans that have mocked the Munich air disaster?

Don't play this holier than thou attitude when your fans are far from squeaky clean

If you can't understand why people have a hatred/dislike for Isak then you have very little understanding of sport

Fwiw I don't wish or celebrate injuries however I have absolutely zero sympathy for Isak, he's a scumbag and I don't wish him well when it comes to football, quite why some Liverpool fans struggle to comprehend that is beyond me

Alan Shearer pointed out his lack of running ability. Hes bitter too ?

You glee at a players injury only because your team without him are much worse . Again you were champions league with Isak but won’t even finish higher than Sunderland. Youre the bitter one

He's a tall guy, you'd be hard pressed to find someone as tall as him be quick, that doesn't make him a donkey

He's been a good footballer and has been a good signing for us, especially when you compare him to most of the other striker signings this summer (Sesko, Gyokeres etc)

Again, where have I shown any glee?

As for Champions League, the first time we made it a couple of seasons ago he was mostly injured, it was Callum Wilson that was top scorer. We might not get there this season but we will get there again.

You won the league, spent over £400m, broke the British transfer record twice, are you bitter that you aren't running away with the league as was the expectation?

We already won it twice in recent years and will win it numerous times before you . Strange thing to point out lol

If you feel joy at another players serious injury , you will get it in return , how Sunderland is a better team .

Well, using that logic we will get in the Champions League again without Isak, strange thing to point out lol

Plus using that logic, did Isak get injured because some Liverpool fans showed joy at Trent getting injured?

Bhai, politely, why the need to antagonise the geordies? I get banter and i get the gooners have gone absurd in some of their stuff and it is warranted but Newcastle?

EVERY fanbase has some form of glee re some form.of bad luck or misfortune befalling an ex player-

The barca fans summed it up nicely with Figo and Madrid

- We hate you so much because we loved you so much!

As for Woltemade, he has serious potential, whether he reaches it is another thing but he has made a decent start and i reckon he gets there.

After Haaland, Woltemade been the best CF in the Premier League. He's got enormous potential. Infact, his all round game is excellent.

Jota's sons to join mascots for Liverpool v Wolves

The sons of former Liverpool and Wolverhampton Wanderers forward Diogo Jota will accompany the mascots when the Portuguese's two former sides meet at Anfield on Saturday.

Dinis and Duarte, two of Jota's three children, will join the matchday mascots on the pitch before kick-off.

Jota, 28, was killed in a car crash in Spain in July, alongside his 25-year-old brother Andre Silva.

The Portugal winger joined Liverpool in 2020 after three seasons with Wolves.

Saturday's Premier League fixture at 15:00 GMT is the first time that the two teams have met since Jota's death.

In his programme notes before Liverpool's final home fixture of 2025, manager Arne Slot said he hopes the affection Jota is held in can bring his family "solace".

"Reflecting on everything that has happened over the last 12 months ignites a rollercoaster of emotions but it is normal at this time of year to look back to everything that has happened," said Slot.

"Doing so leads me to think especially of the family of Diogo Jota on what will be their first Christmas without him.

"It is not my place to tell them where they should look for comfort – if that is even possible – but I can only hope that the feeling of love and affection that Diogo still generates brings them some solace."

Jota scored 65 goals in 182 appearances for Liverpool, helping them win the FA Cup and League Cup in 2022 and the Premier League title last season.

The forward joined Wolves on an initial season-long loan deal from Atletico Madrid in 2017 and went on to score 44 goals in 131 appearances.

Arsenal to win quite easily with the eay this Liverpool side is playing.... anything less than a clear and convincing win for Arsenal would be shocking
They should and they have in previous seasons. Arsenal’s real mental block against Liv remains when visiting Anfield.

Nobody’s going to take Liv lightly though.

I was surprised Liverpool didn't score at home against Leeds as they were on a good run of form.

I do feel more confident facing Slot's side this season when compared to last season's side but as mentioned by Obaidd, you cannot be taken lightly as you might step up in a big game.

Just out of curiosity. Would you prefer Arsenal or City win the PL this season?

Wirtz been very Ordinary to be honest, when you compare him to what Cherki is doing at City.

Cherki is some baller. Those passes in tight spaces, dribbling and playmaking as a whole is so good to watch. 9 G/A in 13 PL matches this season. He took a month or two to settle in but he's now found his groove.

France have got some serious talent.

Mbappe cherki olise eboue dembele barcola Mateta. Going to take some beating this summer

With Chelsea, United constantly causing self inflicting damage to themselves. Sunderland will more than likely start to falter. Liverpool should scrape 4th place at end of the season

Typical slow Dutch style of keeping possession and creating very little up front , a slow plodding mechanical style it might work if our defence was top notch but in premiership due to the pace you will get caught on the break and even against Leeds there were chances where they could have nicked this game.

Conclusion it might keep a steady ship but liverpool won't be winning titles and cups with this managers style and tactics that's for sure .

And would be fine with a top 4 placing especially given the relegation battle talk that you perpetuated....

I think next season will also be a bit of a state of flux i.e. centre of defence plus the RW position.

It will be the season after In sha Allah we should properly be back in contention and have some consistency, amy sooner- very happy.

Just 30 goals in 19 league games and all that after spending 400M in summer, most of that on attacking signings. Chelsea and United have better goal output in PL this season so far.

Slot is a lazy coach. He thought he could sit back and the creativity will come. However the opposition have countered Liverpool and Liverpool look clueless.
This is spot on....

Having 4 different players play RB in a game is ridiculous and smacks of little in game idea!

There are some clubs that routinely spend 9 digit sums in each summer.... i guess you must be speaking from experience- all that spend and what have you won in the last x no of years?!

I appreciate certain (not all) gooners are puffing their chests out and flexing this season moreso than usual, i hppe you guys get over the line with all the cheques you be writing.... because it means absolutely nothing to say- well the scousers did this or that- if you bottle it (again)....

This time looks more promising, so, we can see even more gooners resort to hyperbolle etc.

AJ, you might even get to resort to talking about a grown man twerking again- Van twirk wasn't it? When yku guys beat Liverpool next week as opposed to having all them pictures of that to yourself- perfectly rationale for a grown man (minimum 40s) to regurgitate about another grown man twerking....!

decades etc is irrelevant when you consider a grown man resorts to memes galore and that too, of a grown man twerking.

I mean, a grown man trawls the web or comes up with his own meme of another man twerking?!?! I know the world had changed a great deal and that sort of stuff might be considered rational but it is a tad peculiar....

Respect is a 2 way street and is not a pre requisite.

I appreciate that (a lot of) gooners are flexing and running their mouth this year (even more than usual!) but i would remember that things are cyclical and receipts do not have an expiry.

And that is a shame- genuinely respect Arsenal as a club, especially the London based fan base and their track record on all things non football....

When certain fans are resorting to making up stuff, you know they are rattled.

No one on this forum that supports Arsenal is getting carried away with this season. But supposedly there is loads of showing chest.

Yet plenty of Liverpool fans were proclaiming after 5 games in this thread, they were going to walk the league, they were going to be "scary in December".

As a coping mechanism they are now coming up with made up scenarios from Arsenal fans.

When fans can comprehend their own clubs failures this season, after running their mouths. They deserve the humble pie they are getting.

Haha!

Do not worry, after Arsenal batter Liverpool- you can mock uo the Van twerk stuff again.

So, you can generalise a clubs fanbase based on a few people but why can others not? Arsenal fans, those actually down here in London are already planning the victory parade, it will make it a terrible weekend for those of us that work in and around Islington/Camden.... when they won the fa cup, nightmare commute!

BY all means, ignore this... i am shocked that the meme output is not where it was!

You can try and downplay it but Arsenal should really win it from here.

As a liverpool fan, if we have no chance (and we have none) to win the league, not fussed who wins it out of City and Arsenal.... the gooners will be insufferable, more puffing of chests etc.

Fair. I know some Liverpool fans, who want City to win it because they believe Arsenal fans would be "unbearable" if we won it and there are those who want Arsenal to win it because they feel City cheated their way into winning it with the 115 charges, which they believe cost Liverpool a league or two.

That makes sense bhai- i agree, it is what i see also, both sides- i can understand it but tbh, not fussed who wins, if Liverpool could not- I would pick Newcastle but that is not likely also.

Wish Arsenal luck despite the nonsense seen on here...!

Respect those gooners who are focusing on their team and the title challenge that you have (and deserve) as opposed to those who spend hours++++ trying to run down other clubs who are well outside the mix- not sure i can understand the rationale in doing that, other than sone deep routed psychological trauma over the years or the realism of trying to (falsely) relate success as equals when reality is far from it!

Liverpool fc havent been this bad since 14-15 season. The bald fraud had to go. Utter clueless mediocre boring manager. Does the same thing again and again. Get rid Now!

Spent nearly half a billion to make the team worse. What a Man U like clown show.

Liverpool have won 5 out out of their last 15 games.... That says it all.

Slot has to go and should be one of the last dutch managers in the PL for a long while.
