Liv fans have been bashing their title winning manager since matchday 8. On top they never gave him credit for the league win last year. Of course when fans turn against the manager, the team plays without confidence and that’s on their supporters too who don’t know how to back their team. I can count on 1 finger the Liv supporters here who have backed their manager and those are the only ones I take seriously. Rest are clueless. And what’s with this victim mentality at the club. Never got it.

What is wrong with these guys ?! What point are they trying to prove ? That they're smarter than everyone else ? Joe Gomez is injured yet again (about as predictable as night following day) so we're down to 2 fit CBs, one of which is 34 years old.

Maybe the owners have said to DOF and manager, we gave you loads money in summer and you wasted it. Your not getting any more till summer.

You know what these American owners are like, they won't keep throwing money around. At same time some blame has to go on recruitment team as this mess you have should have been fixed in summer

As if VVD wasn’t making mistakes prior to this season?

I have seen VVD make many mistakes over the years. It’s just that his PR is insane so he usually gets very little to no criticism for making mistakes, and he gets over the top praise for doing stuff that any half decent defender at this level should be doing.

Extremely overrated player.

VVD is coming to the end of his career. He has 2 PL and 1 CL , Utd or Arsenal have no such defender playing .

That made zero sense .... the last CL game is not the hardest, i agree that the CL needs prioritising but in a measured way... Slot has made several puzzling decisions this year, deserves time but there needs to be stronger signs of growth- at present, not seeing it from his side....

Need those 4 signings in the summer In sha Allah.

I think Arsenal have it sewn up, City have been v poor, unless City have a big turnaround- Arsenal have it easy and they have been the standout team this season so far.

I would also agree but it’s Arsenal . They have more bottle jobs than your local milkman . Utd coming up next . If they perform as they did against City I can see Utd taking 3 points . If Arsenal do win fair enough, the best team always win the league but it will be funny day for English football. Stoke City may as well win the league .

As for LFC , with Alonso and this foundation it will revert back to a 2 horse race , lfc and city imo

Serious question bud. What has Alonso achieved to make him a prime candidate for such a big Job?

If LFC are serious about replacing Slot, then why not target the like of Ancelotti, Tuchel, Luis enrique who will all be available after the world Cup.

Alonso clearly couldn't hack it at Madrid, and buy the looks of it, the guy that's replaced him has brought stability back at Madrid.

I watched a lot of Bayer Leverkusan when they won the league after 10 odd years of Munich title winning sides . Imo this is a bigger achievement than wining the league with Madrid or Liverpool. He also built the team but most importantly his playing style is build perfectly for Liverpool football club . He is also a legend and unlike Slot understands the importance of style of play expected at this club.

I don’t rate Tuchel much and Carlos is well set in Brazil .

It’s just not working for Slot , the more pressure the more he does crazy tactics and strategy. IMO he has now lost the dressing room , he should join lonely Amjid in his basement.

This tells me Alonso couldn't handle scrutiny and his man management at madrid was poor of Big name players.

Also winning the Bundesliga after a decade of bayern dominance is over played. Maybe Bayern took the eye off the ball and could have down tooled that season.

Liverpools issues are obvious. The three players who carried you guys to the title last season are not on it this season. VVD, Salah, Gravenberch. Then injuries and prolonged integration of the likes of Wirtz, Isaak, Merkez also did not help.

Check out some of the play Bayer L were incredible . He also made Wirtz .

It’s football, Liverpool have been 1st or 2nd best for a decade now , winning everything and more . Other teams will improve but lfc will winning silverware regularly for the next decade or two

Good luck for later . The airplane stadium awaits .

Wirtz was a Generational talent identified before Alonso came to Leverkuson. Yes he did well at Leverkuson. But managing Leverkuson and managing Super clubs like Madrid, Liverpool, UTD is a different kettle of fish.

Im very confident for the game today. UTD's issues are at the back, Arsenals attack looks predictable and one dimensional but obviously they are strong in Set pieces. Hopefully this is where Maguire is a specialist in dealing with set pieces.

My prediction. Draw.

I guess he (Slot) deserves some credit and time. He did won the title last year. I am from the Netherlands, Rotterdam (Feyenoord) and it was sad to see him leave, but it will be harsh to replace him so soon.

If Shaw can keep Saka in check , Gyokeres and Trossard shouldn’t be an issue if you defend as you did v City . Amad , Bruno and Mb will cause problems for Arsenal.

I’d go draw too, 1-1 but Utd can win this one imo

He got the credit but Salah was unstoppable. We won many points because it was Klopps team , under him the trophy was certain imo.

Now with his own set up , he’s a little confused, keeps chopping and changing every other match , it’s not a good sign . I respect whats he done for us but Alonso is part of us . May as well get him while he’s available . Another loss and I think he’ll be fired
 
I think the loss of diego jota cannot be understated:

1. Very useful player- LW/ST and possibly RW.
2. Happy to come off the bench.
3. Well liked by the rest of the squad.
4. The toll of bereavement is not a light toll.
5. Altered plans, do Liverpool really buy 2 strikers if he was there, i think not.


INjuries, loss of form etc. Are to be expected but death in his prime- that cannot be fathomed.

Agree. If hes sacked half way through a season with winning a Title a season before, then Football has truly gone mad.

Fully agree.

This season he was given free reign, his style to be imposed- usually, i would say he deserves another season (3rd) just foe winning the title but it all rests on this season- champions league or bust....

An FA cup, although some teams would be happy with a top 4 position and an FA Cup or league cup.....i do not think Liverpool would be this season unless waves are made in the Champions League.

We will lose Alonso by then, just like we did with Guehi.

Slot has shown what he is capable of with a team that he has made. We cant defend or look threatening enough. Endless, meaningless possession that puts you into trouble on a turnover.

He got lucky with a team and team spirit built by someone else. We have to be ruthless and get rid of him now.

Where will Alonso go before then?

At Leverkusen he said that he wanted a get out of Madrid, Liverpool or City.

Slot deserves the season...the focus for me is how we do in the Champions league.
 
Liverpool are still in FA cup and CL, anything can happen in cup competitions. Liverpool can still win cup ties, even with a glass jaw defence. Makes zero sense for Liverpool to get rid of slot now. Any decisions should be made in summer.

The fact certain plastic part timers were calling Liverpool unstoppable and scary, now happy Liverpool are losing so they can push manager out. Same people now praying for Man city and united to bail them out.

But no one now really rates Maguire as anything more than just an okay player.

Maguire despite being 80 million has escaped criticism for the most part. But, Pogba who was also 80 million pound signing got absolutely crucified by the media, and Pogba wasn’t even that bad.

You can tell just how racist and Islamophobe the UK media is.

One thing i do hold against Slot is how he turned his back on a lot of the players that Klopp was starting to develop and bring through- really regret seeing Jarrell Quansah leave, even moreso now with the bigger injury crisis but he was able spell at RB and to have a young talent like that at CB and just let him leave was a waste.

Similarly, others shipped out- he took a risk with that approach.
 
Seems like Madrid have soured on Trent..... will be shocking if he really does leave at end of season.

One thing to not beat out Carvajal at RB but also Valverde who even said he did not want to play there!

I can confidently say we will struggle to get top 4 considering man utd now have a bit of mojo back. The top 3 are set arsenal manager city and villa.

And we won't be winning the fa cup or champions league and it will become evident when the team is drawn against a decent opposition . Even Barnsley caused us problems .

The the team is poor too many injuries and lack of depth in defence .


For me slot needs sacking its unfortunate but he can go and manage crystal Palace or someone for next season when that job becomes available.

Unlike klopp , slot got funds and broke transfer records and instead of improving the team he's made it worse and its now evident the board aren't even backing him in any emergency signings in January for the defence .

Spot on.... re VVD and Salah/Diaz.

Slot would have chosen this route r.e. players coming in or at least had a very strong say-especially having won the league, accountability should not be shunned either.

Gerrard should be nowhere near consideration as manager.
