Northern has won the toss and elected to field first

Umar Amin has played every single game since Imad joined and failed each time

Commentators always say Asif A is a good fielder but he is not, missed a catch again.

Saud Shakeel has lost a lot of weight!

He is not a T20 player, but a prospect for odi and test

Northern looked better bowling and fielding unit under Shadab's captaincy rather than Imad's. .

I think it was okay as you need a finisher azwell and you have azam khan who can hit and sarfraz who can play the second role

Azam khan played a brilliant knock under pressure it wasnt all slogs and decent running between the wicket

Impressive shape on the new ball from Hasnain

Rauf and Hasnain are both more impressive than the little bit I've seen of Naseem in the shorter formats.

THIS!!

Lol at people saying he is another Wahab :sendoff

Wahab actually is MUCH better - he has won a Test against England in Dubai, he has an ODI 5for in WC and he is among the best T20 bowlers around, even at this age. He has close to 200 (or more) Test-ODI wickets at around 33-34 - I can bet, Hasnain won’t cross that mark.

At Rawalpindi, in evening, just when the dew is forming a little heavy air, I have seen people moving white ball crazy; it’s similar at Mohali as well. Therefore you can’t conclude here - I was also watching few balls, banana swing (that shapes early) doesn’t trouble batsmen much, at least in proper cricket because batsmen can position themselves early. Also, too much swing often misses the edge. What troubles is late, late swing - just a little, say 2-3 inch from good length, that’s unplayable at pace.

Northern’s bowlers had a day to forget - Azam can blast, but surprised that they couldn’t get him out. 23-25 at 250 SR is one thing, but 88 at 205 is something else. And, that attack had all 6 PAK internationals.

Was over hyped just like Naseem Shah.

Interesting that you’re writing him off already. He’s one of the most exciting talents we’ve had for two decades. Up there with the likes of Shaheen, Babar, a young Amir, young Umar Akmal, Raza Hassan.

His only challenge is fitness. If he maintains that, he will be a weapon for us.

Amin is a type of player once set can blast as his timing is very good, once feet in position, he can accelerate. But, today probably left too much to recover.

In the context of the game, Umar Amin played a selfish and terrible innings for Northern side. Just as much as I credit Danish for that wonderful match winning 50, this 50 was the one which gets you dropped. He has no game awareness. If Northern win from here it would be due to Zeeshan and the rest of the team. Stats are not everything and today's innings showed that.

Northern didnt utilize the power play as well as they should have. Yes Sohail, Hasnain and co bowled well but Northern should have tried considering their deep batting lineup. Unless Haider plays a blinder its looking bleak.

Should have open with Haider ....Amin is no powerhitter

Ali Imran was there in the squad who did pretty well in the first leg but as Amin was the top scorer for them last year they moved him to open for the 2nd leg.

Initially I also thought that Umer should open but considering the wickets and outfield the first 6 overs become really important and Zeeshan, Ali Imran and Haider do have the power game to utilize them as top 3. So Northern should make the switch I think.

First 6 overs of Northern batting gave them a very little chance against such a total.

Cannot believe over rated Nawaz not only selected but batting ahead of Rohail and Imad.

Mo Wasim seems brainless. Haider Ali who is an opener is down to #3 and mediocre bats like Shadab and Nawaz are batting ahead of Imad.

For such an experienced side including M Wasim as coach, I think Northerns left the game too early, after 221. They are likely to lose this game by may be 20-25 runs max., after an opening stand of 116 - that means they were just about 2 overs behind the clock and Amin never tried to recover that.

Basically it's coming down to good new ball bowlers and power hitters....Sindh is ticking that box.
Also South Punjab

.

Amin is a decent bat when on song is a treat to watch but he is no power hitter ....u need power hitter even pinch-hitter at power play to chase this.....Haider Asif Ali even Shadab or Rohail could have done better than Amin

They don't look very good under Imad captaincy.

No idea what innings Amin played clearly they could have gone for this if they wanted to rather than tuck tuck in the first 10 overs without even losing a wicket.

Good to see Hasnain improving.....
Actually he has done well...poor fielding has somewhat affected his stats.....in another match could have got Azam early.....Sindh getting the momentum at right moment but Northern still one of the favourites

When this northern attack went for 221, it has to be a fantastic batting condition & Northerns made a blunder of sending Amin as opener. He is very good touch player with good placements, which is best suited for ODI or in T20 when the target is around 170 (May be around 200 for today’s conditions) - he can keep scoring by almost every ball, can hit boundaries in between as well and can feed the hitting partner other side; but he is not a blaster who would reduce asking inside power play. This is one game I think he was better suited at 5, as a back-up plan to save net run rate, just in case.

May be an odd game - Imad is returning from UK and still might not be into his team’s game. plan completely. Overall, he is a better thinker than Shadab and a better prospect to lead the side as of now.

Sparkling half-centuries by Azam Khan and Sarfaraz Ahmed carried Sindh into the semi-finals of the National T20 Cup with a 25-run win over Northern, the table-toppers, at the Pindi Cricket Stadium on Wednesday.

Azam blasted 88 runs at a staggering strike rate of 204.65 to record what was the 22-year-old’s second half-century of the tournament and third of his overall T20 career.

The right-handed batsman stitched a crucial 130-run stand with his captain Sarfaraz, who stroked a scintillating 52 not out from 28 balls, for the fourth wicket from just 59 balls, which lifted Sindh to an imposing 221 for four.

The two had come together when Saud Shakeel, who replaced Asad Shafiq and scored 25 runs from 18 balls on the back of four fours, was caught by Haider Ali on the last ball of the ninth over on Mohammad Nawaz’s bowling. Sindh, who had been asked to bat first by Northern captain Imad Wasim, were 67 for three at that stage.

The partnership between Azam and Sarfaraz was largely dominated by the former as he contributed 84 runs that came at a strike rate of 233.

Azam stay at the crease was studded by eight sixes and five fours. He was dismissed by Mohammad Amir, who returned two for 42 in four overs after replacing Haris Rauf, on the second ball of the penultimate over.

Speaking about his innings, Azam said: “I feel an innings was due on me. I have been struggling to convert my starts into big scores. The plan now is to continue to play like this in the upcoming matches.

“Some boundaries early on provided me the desired confidence then Saifi bhai [Sarfaraz Ahmed] gave me a lot of support and confidence after he joined me in the middle. That I have had a few partnerships with him in the HBL Pakistan Super League 2020 also helped.”

Sarfaraz smashed three sixes and as many fours as he recorded his first half-century of the tournament.

Northern were provided a solid start by Umar Amin and Zeeshan Malik as both batsmen scored fighting half-centuries and knitted a 116-run stand for the first wicket. Umar, made 51 off 42 balls, hitting six fours and two sixes, while Zeeshan raced to 61 from 35 balls, smashing three sixes and six fours as his opening partner.

The run-chase, however, turned on its head on the last three balls of the 13th over.

Anwar Ali, who finished with two for 32 from four overs, dismissed both openers on back-to-back balls before Asif Ali (one off one) was run out on the last ball of the over.

A 39-run stand for the fourth wicket between Haider Ali and Shadab Khan promised to bring the run chase back on track. But, Mohammad Hasnain, who was the pick of the bowlers for Sindh with three for 28, accounted for Haider (27 off 13, four fours and a six) in the 17th over before dismissing Shadab, who scored 26 off 16 balls, and Rohail Nazir (four off two) in his next over as Northern fell 25 runs short of the 222-run target despite four wickets win in hand.

Scores in brief:

Sindh beat Northern by 25 runs

Sindh 221-4, 20 overs (Azam Khan 88, Sarfaraz Ahmed 52 not out, Saud Shakeel 25, Sharjeel Khan 21; Mohammad Amir 2-42)

Northern 196-6, 20 overs (Zeeshan Malik 61, Umar Amin 51, Haider Ali 27, Shadab Khan 26; Mohammad Hasnain 3-28, Anwar Ali 2-32)

Player of the match – Azam Khan (Sindh)

Northern was fielding like Australia under Shadab and like Karachi Kings under Imad :))

Sums it up. Shadab has been the best captain on show in the tournament, I think. Lead from the front, great bowling changes and field placements too. Imad on the other hand seems lost on what to do on most occasions.
