This wicket definitely has lot more turn from day one. Looks like England had better selection.

ENG is hurrying over-rate, which tells me that they are sweating a bit regarding batting on this surface on day 3 onwards - want to get their top batsmen in by lunch tomorrow.

The over rate is dead on the required rate... You'd hope so when nearly 2/3 of your overs had been from spin.

Alright, I'm out guys, have fun. Hopefully wake up to a score of 280 odd for 3-4 down at the close of play.

Great tactic from Younis. He's putting his leg out so that if he does edge any, the ball is likely to hit his leg and drop down safely.

With Eng have three pace options and three spinners Pakistan have more scoring opportunities than last two tests

Yasir Shah and Babar will be a handful on this wicket. Imagine what will happen on Day 4/5.

I think he can only do that because Rashid is bowling sooo slow. I don't see him making full use of this pitch.

Don't forget Pakistan is also playing 4 spinners: Yasir, Zulfi, Malik and Azhar (he's more than decent).

In theory we have 4 spinners

Malik and Azhar can match Patel in bowling

Cant imagine going with one pacer for a test match

Rashid will never be as threatening as Yasir, bowls a full 10kph slower. Easy to handle.

We don't need four spinners. Yasir and Zulfiqar will be more than enough, provided Wahab Riaz can get a couple early on.

I missed 1st session

How much turn is there?

Slow or fast?

With bounce or without bounce?

Good amount of turn, with some bounce of offer too. The speed depends on the bowler; Ali and Patel have been turning it quick while Rashid has been slower.

I can calculate, trust me. Check how may Tests in last 15 years have 30 overs on 1st session, Day 1 with 13 overs bowled by pacers.

Hafeez was unlucky. That ball was there to be put away, just executed the shot wrongly

As long as the spinners keep giving the odd pie, Pakistan should be fine and if they decide to switch to pace on one end, even better. Imagine the rough they'll make for Pakistan to exploit against England's left handers...can't wait.

Shah should aim for nothing less than a 10-fer here. Will be his first.

England have been quick , getting through the overs.

I thought, I said exactly that - ENG is hurrying on Day 1, 1st session, in this heat; when things are taken for granted that you 'll bowl 90 overs in 6.5 hours. I 'll not be surprised if they bowl 91 or 92 overs in 6 hours today, specially if they get 5/6 down.

At some point they will have to bowl pacers.

Probably, Jimmy & Berbi 'll bowl cutters. I 'll not be surprised if they bowl with a shorter run-up & WK standing at wicket. Let's see. But, in this morning session, still they bowled 13/30 overs by pace - don't think they are going to bowl 26 out of next 60.

Let's see what malik does here, he has not being anything special thus far.

Azhar hardly bowls

Comparing them to Samit Patel they can be compared. In fact Malik has better FC record

Looks like it's not going to be that easy to bat on this wicket and with a slow outfield.

Yeah, outfield is pretty slow as well. It mush have stopped atleast 5 fours by now. 400 is like 500 here. 350 plus is very good score here.

Let's see how pitch behaves day 2/3.

If Misbah thinks that bowl will spin less later on then why did he bat first?

Something to work on - YK got away with, but this is probably 5th or 6th time a PAK batsman got out (this time edged) just after a break.

England team had lot of all rounders.

Two wickets keepers, two seaming all rounders, 2 spinner all rounders. I am not sure if that's a very good thing. Roles are not clearly defined.

Pitch may not spin less but slows down, easier to bat in those days. That is a possibility but not a must.

MMHS ,which pakistani batsmen do you think will hild better in england next year?who do you think should open for pakistan in england and do you think malik and hafeez can be useful in test matches there?

Behold. The most naturally gifted batsman of Pakistan's last 16 years. Be-bloody-hold.

once again down to misbah and YK to bail us out from trouble 88/3

That's terrible shot, no need to play this ball.

Malik is not confident of his foot movement against pace, how is he going to play on green and bounce??

You got to be kidding me?? He is not a proper batsman, forget about being most gifted

That was the most casual test match dismissal I have seen in a long time.

Whatta playa.
Gets out to a medium pacer on the slowest of wickets, that too caught behind with no feet movt coz of being scared by the short ball.

Pathetic how he has such a cult following

If we put up a decent total say above 250. Then this game is ours for sure. Insane turner this.

Some reverse and seam movement by Broad.

Wonder if Anderson will get another spell here ?

Still need a total of atleast 300-350, pitch has runs for those who get their eye in.

Probably Asad. Apart from batting quality, I think he 'll come after or at No. 4, which 'll make his life easier.

Malik can be useful, I am not sure, but only chance, if he bats at 6. In UK, PAK 'll need 3 pacers + Yasir. Either one of Haris or Azhar has to improve bowling significantly, or PAK should take a 0.5 bowler, preferably spinner. Same equation is valid for MoHa, but only if he is allowed to bowl. I don't see him doing well as a specialist top 3 only. That makes a decent balance with 3 + 1 + Malik/MoHa.

May be developing Azhar as a opener isn't a bad idea, otherwise, from # 3, he might play the ball before No. 2. I believe, PCB 'll arrange some Tests before 2016 Summer, may be against BD, ZIM or even WI - it's essential that Haris & Babar (may be someone new as well, could be Umar, Shehzad) is given chance. It's not easy for Asian batsmen in UK - last time PAK made a big mistake by dropping MoYo & YK at the start & sending a young batting line up.

I like it that there is something for the bowlers there.

If wicket settles, easier to bat on day 2/3. Wonder if win toss bat first (default decision in UAE) is the right decision? It has back fired couple of times in last few years.

Once again it is up to the old guard to get us out of trouble.

We can't have these two retiring from test cricket unless and until formidable opening or middle order batsmen are found to replace them.

Esp on Sharjah.

Last two tests, won by batting second.

IA sarfraz regains form this innings. Also broad bowling well. 1 run in 7 overs and a wicket

what is a good score on this pitch i guess at least need 300 in first innings

Broad has just given one run in 7 overs?? [emoji15][emoji15][emoji15]

This also reflects how bad we play pacers, even though there is some side ways movement.

300 is a lot, assuming wicket remains like this. But I feel wicket will ease out for next two days, otherwise test may not go to day 5.

Same wondering now if it was the right decision to bat probably was though. But it's good for cricket that the wicket is supporting.
