For me, I just want the 11 best guys. PCB will never select the 11 best guys so we will never consistently win in the long run. I just make predictions on what history has taught me. Shafiq now in 5 ODIs since his come back has one 50 to his name, a 39, 13, 5 and 1. Average below 20, SR in the low 60s, in his 51 now ODIs he averages 25 with an SR of 68. Anyone who says the past with a lot of evidence does not indicate the future, well YK and Shafiq are a perfect example.
I wish Shafiq was actually a good player. I have no personal attachment, I just look and see who has performed and who has the ability to score. Affinity for run as I've always said is a talent.
Maqsood, Harris, Umar, Fawad, Sarfraz, these guys have match winning performances where they put the team on their back. I don't watch Shafiq and see the potential for him to score big runs on a consistent basis.
The former have flaws but there is no reason why anyone could pick Shafiq over them.
He can play the entire ODI series, would htm be shocked if he does, but do I expect performances more often than not? No. That's why he shouldn't play. It's about players who consistently put runs on the board. Shafiq has never done that and if anyone still has any defence it's mind blowing.
