Pakistan aims to increase their lead in the series as they prepare to face New Zealand in the third T20I of the five-match series at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium today on Sunday, April 21.

The series opener on Thursday, April 18, was disrupted by rain. However, the Babar Azam-led team managed to secure a 7-wicket victory over Michael Bracewell’s Blackcaps at the same location on Saturday, April 20.

Boring boring Rawalpindi

0/10 venue

Should not be an international venue!

Karachi
Lahore
Multan

The only other three venues PCB has atm ready for international cricket, also the security arrangements in RWP is the easiest for the Administrators , thankfully PCB don't work on the wishes of certain individual far far away from ground realities

Another practice match for Pakistan, not happy to see Pakistan's full strength team is playing this toothless New Zealand side

Good to see full strength squads being played by Pakistan and when it comes to more important matches players are rested.

Don't think Pakistan will be rotating batters in this game, but I could see some rotation in bowling.

Hard to say what will Pakistan gain at the end of this series. In these small series the superior team is always in a lose-lose situation. Although for New Zealand this is the best they could hope for. Young guns playing international Cricket against best bowlers in this format.

Best thing Pakistan can do is to just give maximum opportunities to young players. We all know Babar is locked for the WT20 alongside many other players. So it's best if they rest in a couple of games.

Pakistan need to bat first, whatever happens...if they win the toss, bat and am pretty sure if the Kiwis win, they will bowl first anyway...if Pakistan wins and they decide to bowl first, we know this team is not looking to improve....

Saim Ayub T20I Career
12 innings - 166 runs - 13.8 average - 125 strike rate

Questions will be raised today if Saim doesn't perform.

If you convert those innings to Tests, he has played only 6 games.

He is young, loves to attack and deserves backing.

If you take him out, we don’t want to bring another Chaprasi Stabiliser at the top do we.

This series is to try a few things and settle on an XI before the WC.

Except that this isn't Test format and games come fast and quick.

Just something to note of and I'm sure management are taking note as well. Because if in case he fail to live upto the expectations before the WT20. Will the management still be risking him in the tournament? Mind you with young players you have to also be careful as to not essentially break them mentally through constant failures in international cricket.

Has @Amjid Javed given up on Pakistan Cricket, don’t see you post on it much anymore
Not given up, just never been a huge fan of T20s to be honest, even more so the bilateral T20 series. The cricket calender is just over populated now with T20 games (yeah in brings in most money), but I still prefer test cricket over this any day

Mohammad Amir rotated out for Abbas Afridi.

Interesting they're trying to ease Amir back into internationals in stark contrast to 2016 when Amir basically played all formats right away.

Josh Clarkson and Ben Lister were both ruled out of tonight’s match with illness and haven’t traveled to the ground with the team.

Two debutants today, Zakary Foulkes and William ORourke are playing today.

It seems like NZC have hastily arranged 15 available players to help the PCB and are not really in it to win games.

Pakistan on the other hand seems like they want to play full strength demolition jobs model against village cricketers.

I was excited to watch Mohammad Amir
Chalein Khair i think it's better to give him rest and make this return to international cricket comfortable for him. Next match they should go with imad, fakhar and any other debutant.

Babar doesn't drop the guys playing continuously for years lol but ruthlessly drops Amir and keeps Imad benched.

He really is the Putin of Pak cricket. Does what he wants and others fall into line silently.

Foulkes has such a nice action. Swinging the ball too.

No fakhar no imad again
Rotated amir

What sort of rotation policy is this?

Must say I find it quite amazing how many brain cells Pakistan think tank continues to lack.

You're playing a back to back match, blew out NZ last match and you still feel the need to go with Shaheen/Naseem/Shadab in this match too? And the player you do rotate out is the one format specialist in Amir? Really?

The last few WC, the team has been injured & fatigued due to non rest and rotation of the main players and the entire talk leading up to the series was how they were going to rotate and rest and the same stupidity remains. It easily should have been Imad/Zaman/Abbas in for Naseem/Shaheen/Shadab while Amir plays as a one format player.

Very much doubt it

Those being rested will play the tough series
Full strength england in England
Then get dropped for WC

Babar can't hit sixes against the pacers like Saim, Fakhar, Usman and even Rizwan.

Biggest reason why he shouldn't open and play at 3.

Too many deliveries wasted by him.

Babar should not open. Pakistan still following the age old stability at the top formula in modern day T20 game.

Saim should open with Fakhar and go berserk at the top. Even if one of them come good, the score will be 50/1 in 4 overs.

has to the 2 caterpillars fighting above his eyes , Amir rested after 1st comeback game - wonder what does that say for fitness for a long tournament like WC ! off topic , does Bazid drink on job ?

Damn, Ayub is looking very good
His highest T20I score is 49, let's see if he can beat that today

Saim doing what's been missing in the PP, which is aerial shots. it's why RizBar never scored much in the PP. It is simply too difficult to only score runs along the ground and hope they don't find the fielders.

Agreed, I also want to see Imad in the team. They can afford to rest Shaheen as well since his spot in the WC is already confirmed

To be honest this has been really good from Pakistan albeit against a weak NZL attack. Intent in PP so much better than it's been for a long time.

This is pakistan's first ever 50+ opening partnership in T20I's this year

Babar needs ro work on that backfoot. He's lucky this is pindi smh. Every shot is front foot 😭😭
