for Goodness atleast we haven't gone with all pace attack even though playing yasir not gonna make much difference, he is well past it now, specially vs half decent teams.

It must be a bowler friendly pitch. Even Azhar/Misbah/Waqar are no that stupid to bowl first otherwise. Same playing XI as last test.

Don't think its a bad decision to bowl first. There is always a little something in Pakistani wickets in the morning and the the second and third days are the best for batting.

Statistically, Bangladesh's pace bowling trio might be one of the worst ever to play a test.

So faheem is playing not Harris?

The broadcasters seem to have gotten it wrong.

This team is still unbalanced.

Mohammad Rizwan is batting too low at 7.

Yasir Shah is batting too high at 8.

Abbas, Shaheen and Naseem are three Number Elevens in the same team.

Do you expect a batsman at #8?

Yasir s batting is not the issue

They are playing because they are the 3 best bowlers in the format - not fit their batting ability. And Yasir was the 3rd highest scorer in Australia I believe. How is he batting too high?

The fake psychiatrist loves to cry.

Which one is first in the scorecard - run or wicket ...... 3/2?

Also, they have picked 6 batsmen & a WK who doesn't bowl at all - all are number 12 in terms of bowling.

MMHS go easy on Junaid mate, Azar started as leggie and imo is right now better than our specialist spinner yasir, plus asad is handy part timer and Harris is better than a part timer, but I know what you did there.

Getting to 200 will be a miracle for BD, given how many hacks we've selected. On top of that selectors want to give them 3 Tests to prove themselves, lol.

MMHS I think this bowl 1st decision in these conditions may not haunt pak this time but this defensive mindset will definitely cost them vs better teams what's your take?

If Sadman/Imrul & Shakib were available, this line up could have been 5 lefti in top 5, as Mushi bats at 6 in Test - something needs to be done. The common practice in BD is that, if there is a lefti batsman, he must open, or at worst bat at 3. Each one of them are actually opener excluding Shakib - Tamim, Imrul, Sadman, Shanto, Soumya, even Mominul opens in ODI. For the current U19 team as well, all 3 openers are lefti - Tanzim, Emon, Prantik. Previous one had Pinak opening & Afif at 3 ...... opposite extreme is that, there is hardly anyone lefti at middle order.

Imrul is no longer a first choice Test player. This is a lineup we should use:

1) Tamim
2) Shadman
3) Mushfiq
4) Mominul
5) Mosaddek
6) Shakib
7) Nurul

That puts 3 right handers in the top 7 and also staggers the lefties.

At Pindi, you should bowl first because first two hours are difficult period. PAK wickets are a bit different, which gets better under Sun, therefore I think it's a good decision. Wickets in SENA countries (excluding NZ) are more bouncy with cracks - often those tracks get faster by Day 2 and it's really gets tougher on 4th innings both from spin & pace, bowling first often back-fires. Here, BD would have bowled first as well.

In next summer tour, batting first might be a struggle for PAK without settled top 3 (top 3 & Captain at 3), but in general, PAK should look to bat first and bring bowlers in the game to defend totals.

Nazmul & Liton has to be there. I'll drop Sadman and try Joy to open with Tamim.

Playing test matches in Pakistan is priceless .it would have been impossible for bowlers to bowl short pitch deliveries on those dead and slow wicket

Why the grass color is like this? Long back, UK observed the driest summer of last millennium in 1976 - Oval ground turned into brown straw color mat, on which Viv hit 292 in 8 hours .... then Holding took 14 wickets bowling at crazy speed.

Shanto has lots of time against pace, but they are troubled with the extra bounce. If it's Kookaburra being used, I think if this pair can survive till lunch, it'll be a bit easier, but PAK pacers will reverse it sometimes after Lunch.

:)

This is the possible best XI that PAK could put considering that Azhar is Captain. They have a Leggi (he doesn't turn much which is different issue), 3 pacers and couple of batsmen who can bowl at least 35 overs between them - Haris & Asad. That makes it a near perfect versatile attack - a leggi, an offie, a SLAO + a left arm fast, a right arm fast & a right arm seemer. On top of that, Shan can bowl few overs of seem-up and Azhar probably turns more than Yasir. And, this guy Yasir scored almost 200 Runs in 2 Tests in Australia....

All that are gone through window because con man Misbah didn't pick "all-rounder" Faheem Ashraf & Shadab Khan ..........

Joy is not an opener! Liton averages under 25 in all 3 formats. How many more chances does he need?

Joy's game is perfect for Test opener - he actually opened for club & FC games. Liton is WK batsman - 25 isn't that worse considering specialist are averaging 30. He needs couple of good innings under his belt, he'll be a different batsman.

Ramiz is saying that yasir needs a bouncy pitch. Someone please tell him that Yasir has got 95 % of his wickets in uae.

These kind of devastating starts started since tests in India. 4 innings in India plus this one ,starts like 12/4, 3/2. Our openers and top order are just useless. Their footwork, confidence are at their worst.

Ok, serious question - is the picture stream a bit squeezed, or Naseem has lost an inch or two? He should look taller with Momin & Shanto at wicket, but I am not feeling that .........

Naseem is relentless with his pace.
Everything above 140 kph.
At his age you don't see such consistency with the pace and action, especially in test cricket.

Abbas lost his pace and zip, he will bashed by quality batting teams

Pakistan need to strike here , BD batsmen playing slowly , looking to occupy the crease.

Misbah is lucky to have some easy series to keep his job along with his buddies like Azhar, Shafiq, Imran....

Once or twice is ok - but your constant complaining does get repetitive and loses its effectiveness.

Ok bro if you are happy with the performance then its ok.

Yasir probably will trouble them more than pacers, because they hardly play leg spin at FC level. This Lamichane kid should play in BD domestics.

Don't think its really a bowling pitch. The match will go even 5 day if Bangladesh bat sensibly.

Left-hander's on the rise cover drive is probably most attractive shot in the game.

This is the perfect opportunity for Mominul to prove that he is not just Mirpur bully. They have handled the toughest overs now they should look to consolidate and don't throw it away.

So there are too many lefties in Bangladesh we selected an off spinner but ended up playing a failing legspinner. Lol.

Cowardly move by Misbah and Azhar to bowl first

There is no such demons in this pitch

Not sure why Yasir is attacking leg stick - he is taking out his most common mood of dismissal here, LBW. Don't think there is enough bounce on the track to bring those 3 leg side close-in fielders.

Mominul is another asad shafiq in making both are good at scoring cute 30s and 40s

Reached his range of 30, then plays knee bent drive on the rise on 12th stick line :(

Shaheen is just so good in tests. This guy just needs to learn to use that height and hit the deck harder and he will be an unbelieveably good test match bowler. He is already Pakistan's best.

Yasir has bowled well so far looks like he is bowling more slow and with good revolutions

Did I see something real - first morning, 3 down already and Yasir is bowling with 3 men of leg boundary to a kid playing 3rd Test of his career!!!!!

shaheen afridi. take a bow sir. what a bowler he is. As long as he is managed well this boy is destined to be a great player. ATG potential.
