450!!! Let them score 300 first. 178/4 and only 2 batsmen left

I think, Sarfraz 'll bat well here; he loves ball on bat. But, now that YK gone, Misbah has to convert it into 3 figures.

Misbah MUST make a ton. I hope he does... but he usually bottles it when he is close to doing the job for us. Will he be a nearly man again?

Time for shafiq to score when pressure is really on, we cant afford to lose any more wickets before close of play and someone needs to score big, batsmen have got starts here and then thrown it away.

Would much rather it was Misbah strangled down legside then YK. YK can score big and score quickly. Misbah can do neither :(

So?

That doesn't mean he shouldn't score again lol. If that was the case he should have been rested this game.

This is the pattern for him anyways and my response was on your line that Shafiq is under pressure. He should not be feeling pressure as he scored a century last match.

It is true though. The only batsman in PAK team you feel secure when batting is Misbah. Regardless of how many big scores he has, or how slow he is. When he is in you know he can defend almost anything. No other batsman can do that apart from possibly Azhar.

I mean team is under pressure. Shafiq is part of team so he should be under pressure too right? :)

And its been said he doesn't perform when under pressure. So lets see.

Also when a few wickets fall like in world cup quarter final and bangladesh series you know haris sohail will make runs. If he can score bigger (he showed signs in zim series) he can be our best bat

Yeah generally Pakistani team feel pressure normally we are not really in a pressure situation not so many demons in this wicket as far as I can read :).

I don't know I never feel safe with Shafiq he looks nervous and never impresses me but he is that kind of a batsman.

Big Stokes is on. Great guy!

In fact I like this whole English team apart from Broad.

Who better to hit them than the captain ;) on his day misbah can take england spinners to the cleaners

If he is there till the end of the day he make smoke few in last 2 overs... I remember him smashing Monty for six on last ball of the day if I am not wrong.

This is an ordinary batting effort on a pitch that holds no demons.

How are going to cope next year when the ball will be seaming around in England a lot more than this ? Azhar Ali badly missed.

This guy Misbah is a piece - every time I plan to write something on why he should retire, he comes back to stop me. I 'll not be surprised if he gets a 100 & then plan to tour AUS in 2017.

Playing really well - hardly troubled & looks determined.

Well we desperately need a big hundred from him. He hardly goes on to score tons, and then big tons. We need a 170-200+. You should expect this from your captain and senior batsman.

26 overs remaining today and i guess 22 more will be bowled. Pakistan will do well to add another 60 without losing any more wickets.

Shafiq needs to assert himself for once. He has a very lame presence at the crease ,can be easily troubled by a determined bowler. His short stature does not help either.

Shafiq needs to tighten up here we cant afford to gift another wicket away.

Hope Shafiq can shut up those who say he doesnt perform under pressure.

If we dont score 400+ on this I'll be annoyed.

Everyone bowled more overs than Rashid and this is suppose to be a wicket favor spinners.

BTW guys when is our next test series after this Eng tour? Seems like we won't be seeing Misbah and Younus for a few months after this UAE tour ends.

You know, this is the problem of Haroon Rashid - he can give chances to youngsters, but unless they take that, Misbahs & Maliks & YKs 'll always come back. Today, riding a death, Masood got a life line & the way he wasted that, I would have made him carrying drink at Sharjah regardless of Azhar comes back or not. Haris can't lose weight, Umar can't concentrate, Ahmad can't rotate, Babar can't hit, Masood can build on a start ................... at the end of the day Misbah, YK, MoHa or even Afridi actually are earning their spot.

Short stature is not the issue we have so many great players of short stature its just his body language and failure to assert himself. Always give the feeling of someone who will give you a chance

Another :fifty from the King. Need a :hundred here from him. Insha'Allah he converts this into three figures.

He looks to be the traditional leg spinner who will concede plenty but take the odd bagful of wickets, like a crap Danish Kaneria.

Damn so we won't be seeing Younus/Misbah for some time now. I hope Misbah plays some FC to keep himself match fit. It won't be easy at this age.

Yah , thats why misbah said he wil probably retire if there is no series with india. At this age he cant wait for another 8 months for the next test series.

Looking at the other leg spinners you can only imagine how far superior was shane warne to them. He probably had the rubber wrists.

Come on captain saab keep digging in and scoring runs.

I think yes most leg spinner go for runs not everyone is Warne...and Danish was actually a good bowler Kami stole many of his wickets.

Been a big issue for Pakistan since 2008. We just don't play enough cricket and that's why the seniors dont need or do not want any rest. Also less matches for talented youngsters who only get chances in T20/ODI as a result.

Yah we need to play more test cricket , 8 matches a year are definitely not enough. We need to play 11 12 like england do. We are crap in ODIs any way , so the less the better.

Yes, Kaneria was pretty decent. Most of his 5+ wicket hauls cost over 100 runs but he would also bowl a lot of overs. So what I meant by Rashid is like a crap Kaneria, is that Rashid will also take 5/100+ fairly often but will concede at 4 or 5 rpo unlike Kaneria who could keep it at 3ish.

Longevity is the issue with pakistan spinners. The most test wickets by a pakistani spinner is by kaneria. I hope Yasir breaks his record.

True about being expensive although I think Rashid is more of a bowler who is useful on pretty broken wickets like day 5 wicket of AbuDhabi otherwise he is pretty ordinary.

England can build a very good attack for Australian conditions if they pick Finn, Broad, and Wood as the three main seamers, Stokes as the fourth seamer, Rashid as the attacking spin option and Moeen as the defensive spin option. Finn and Wood have the pace, Broad gets good bounce, Australia will crumble to any half-decent leg spinner, and then there's Moeen and Stokes in reserve if Rashid receives a phainta.

They just need to be brave enough to dump Anderson and pick Rashid, which they probably won't be.
