South Africa vs India | 2nd test | Ahmedabad | 3/4/2008 to 7/4/2008

But if the grass is there with the new ball S.a should still be able to get one or two wickets....

Fantastic performance by the 2nd best team and strongest batting line up in the world. Simply fantastic.

Yeah, fair enough he wasnt very lucky, but didnt create enough chances imo.

and btw, Österreich ist nur für den Ferien.

yeh i guess u are right!!

Ahan verstehe!

What´s this happened to India :O ?!!!!

I can´t believe it :)) :)) !!!!!

woow
every batsman in the team should be spanked for this performance

btw who won the toss?

Either that or a Sehwag special.... ... OOrrr Yuvraj Singh (best batsman of all time) will score 401* (323)

Kallis hasn't gotten a hundred for a few innings . He'll be really hungry to get one in this game .

At least is this game we are seeing lots of chances....it's interesting to watch and even though good for batting you feel a wicket could fall at anytime .

50 and a very solid innings by A.B. One of the more important contributions in his career so far.

Day ends with s.a 147 ahead with 4 wickets down....if S.A can get (and should ) an extra 50 - 100 runs and then india score 3-400 we will still see a very interesting match for both sides .

well...i guess south africans would get more then that! what your are saying is the worst possible case for south africa and i dont see it happening!

Lead of 250+ looking pretty good here.

India need wickets badly. A lead of 250 is possible for South Africa or even more. India will be looking to bowl South Africa out for about 300 and then all the Indian batsmen need to fire IF India has any chance to win or even draw the game. India are behind by a distance.

Very strong position to be in here. Lead of 147 with 2 set batsmen and 6 wickets in hand. Would imagine at least 100 more runs will be added, more if either Kallis and/or de Villiers can go on to make a century

the only chance for india would be to quickly get these two out in the morning

and then

:fingerscrossed: lax- dravid partnership

good fight back....if we can use the morning due then we could get some wickets..let's hope so!

Sreesanth was reversing it in the end, so it will be a reasonable good contest.

Wow pure bowling carnage by Steyn and co .But wonderful pitch ,way to go curators .Hope we will be back in the second innings .

South Africa 95%
draw/India win 5%

Also there were about 3 people in the crowd.

I think you guys are overrating the impact of the pitch again. If two batsmen scored unbeaten half-tons and a third got 40-odd it's not that bad a pitch. It's a good pitch with assistance for both the batsmen (if they play themselves in) and the bowlers. Ntini and Steyn bowled well, basically, and never gave the Indian bats time to settle.

Back to the game - the Saffas are on cruise control at the moment. I reckon with Boucher still to come they're good for another 100 runs, 150 if Kallizzz :28: puts in a big one. It would take an epic fail from SA to lose this from here.

Try not to get too nervous, Saffer - this one's in the bag I reckon.

If the pitch is indeed sporting for the fast bowlers then of course as always we will see india out for about 200-250 against south africa. Nothing surprising there .But likely it's just as flat as the last one.

& SA bowled out around 80-85 ...nuthing surprising there aswell!

You got the teams mixed up, I think...

If by any chance India succeeds to get SA out in the morning session ....

We will see a first two day test. :)

Hehe, it's a sarcastic comment. You can understand that from my previous comments. I never want rain to affect the results even when we are losing. We need such a lesson and it came at the right time before the IPL :))) :)))

Indians badly need a performance like Laxman's 281 in Calcutta in the second innings. :)

Where is he today?

Under the blanket? ;-)

Dravid is not same Dravid of old anymore, he might play 150 balls, but i dont expect much from him. Loss on cards no matter what

The pitch is a lame excuse!!

:pissed:

I think there was absolute lack of application by the Famed Indian batting order(Not to forget poor Test Batsmen Dhoni)

The pitch was a Good one !!No excuses!! Pathetic batting.

Greedy BCCI also needs to share of blame for this for making this Indian Team play non stop cricket since the tour of England last year and What more there was only 3 days between the previous Test and this one and they sends them in between for promotion of thier IPL teams. :O THis surely has taken thier focus away from the Job on hand

BCCI..You suck..Why did they want to have this Test Series in the first place, when all thier interest lies in the IPL...I am sure they would least bothered about this perfomance today.

it was a pathetic performance by india...they have to work really hard if they wanna save this match

to all my brothers on the board, we're not out of it yet. Sreesanth was looking good last evening and Bhajji is bowling well...if we can wrap them up with a lead of under 250, then we're still in the game.

Thats wat I have been saying , a lead of anything less than 250...then game on !!

can't believe smith hasn't declared yet

c'mon .. alls he needs is a 100 run lead max. :p :p

76 all out (20 extras) - now thats NO JOKE!!!

Its not joke.

Its a pride.

They made their entry in the record book, which Pak, Srilanka & Bangladesh failed to do.

What an achievement. :)

And your solution is drop the test series and not the gimmicky ipl ? what a joke ! Who cares about ipl ?

See Murad, the difference between India and Bangla is.. if Bangladesh goes for 76 in the first innings, we already know the outcome of the match :p

OTOH, just the fact that people are still eerily cautious about betting on a saffer win, says it all :D

We have come back from follow on and beaten the world champion Australia in a gruelling test, that had the best bowling and field attack under the greatest test captain.. went on to win that match and the series as well.

All I can say is, just wait and see... still 4 days to go and all the game needs is some crazy demon to latch on to Laxman, Ganguly or Sehwag :D

On behalf of Australia, thank you India!

Hopefully the Saffers can win the series now (because no doubt the next pitch will be flat as) and spend a few months being hyped up for their series against us muhahahaha.

Oh dyslexic dog ...not again !!!

Always seems we peak before an Aussie series and seem sure we'll win...and then a few weeks later it's all gone wrong.

But let's play it fair Australia...you guys tour us first for a change.....why do we always have to go there and play you at home and help build your confidence on your own conditions ? You guys come tour South Africa first and then we'll see what happens . Also I just don't think without warne and mcgrath you pose the same challenge to be honest.....The south african teams of the past were in awe of the australians in a sense.....now there is very little bowling wise for them to be humbled by . Anyway...it will be a great series in my opinion .....very competitive .

Saffer is using the excuse (that the SA Super 14 rugby teams use as well) that because they have to travel to OZ first and get pummelled, by the time they return to SA for the SA leg of the series they are psychologically scarred and usually roll over without much resistance. Unfortunately for SA the OZ are never going to give up the Boxing Day Test, when we can sell out the MCG for 5 days (or 3 or 4 if we're playing SA). :p

Personally, I don't believe that junk. If you're good enough to win, you overcome whatever obstacles are in your way. I'm surprised Saffer is making excuses for his team's dismal record against us, I thought the Boers had more backbone than that. Looking for excuses for defeats is usually more of an Indian thing (in recent years, at least).

(Howzat! Managed to insult 2 groups of fans at the same time :))) )

lol look i am a neutral here.. yet as i have lived in India and both in Pakistan hence i support India when India plays someone and Pakistan when pakistan plays someone...

and when it's between India and pak.. then i just don't support any one..

i hate both teams that day

That's how the Australians mentally disintegrate the opposition players. Like your players, Like you! :))

do recall that we played steyn and ntini a few months earlier .. and even with the loss of moyo and inzi we still managed to put up some respectable scores.

i hope india can get some quick wickets ... i don't wanna see another bore-fest with kallis chugging along all day long.

instead i'd like to see how the indian batsmen will handle steyn and company second time around.

Pitch: The experts say that the pitch looks slightly greener this morning and the moisture has surfaced again. Kallis and de Villiers will have to approach the morning session with caution and a couple of early wickets could even the score. India would ideally like to bring the lead down to less than 200, but that would take some getting.

somewhat good news for indian fans

lets hope rp and sreesanth can capitalize
