Sussex vs Pakistanis | Tour Match | Hove | Jul 8th-10th, 2016 | Day 1

this is a joke, why are they bowling two spinners at them? I want to see Misbah against PACE.. Pak should just hit these two out of the attack, force them to bring on the pace, and get some useful practice.

Yup and looks like thats what theyre doing.

Instruction by ecb. They don't want Pakistan to have a good practice match.

Misbah and Azhar are operating at a healthy RR of above 5 since last 10 overs. Should boost their confidence, specially for Misbah.

I think azhar and shan should open in the 2nd innings and hafeez should come at number 6. It can work out well for hafeez.

The new ball is due in 8 overs.. they will definitely bring the pacers on then..

What if he has to bat with the tail in the actual match and he needs to score quick runs? Even ladies in comm box are saying he should hit out

He can hit out if required , hope you haven't forgotten his innings in a chase of 302.

I never said he cant. But you can always improve and some practice here wont hurt. Besides sarfraz needs some time in the middle

Going at over 5 runs an over in the last ten.. itna taiz tou hum ODI mein nahi kheltay

Sussex only got 3 genuine seamers in the team. I thought George Garton, the relatively pacy England u19 left armer was in the squad to be honest.

We have a good chance of winning the series against England. Settled batting unit, barring openers but they may click somehow looking at the flat tracks nowadays, and settled bowling unit. We are better than England for sure.

Is Sussex also a bottom ranked county side? In the last match Mamoon and his glass-half-empty brigade were downplaying Pakistan's performance since it came against a 6th ranked side.

The way these two are going, soon we would see pace I reckon.

Plus, 75 overs are gone, so a new ball would be due soon and 15 overs are remaining for Today. This would happen in Test, so should give them good practice.

They should have known that our players are good against spin. Sussex should have selected one more pacer.

Three of the players playing for Sussex have never played an FC match.

It will be good if they get a new ball and throw it at Jofra.

I have seen Fawad play , hurts my eyes . you have to look beyond statistics .

sometimes have to look beyond your 'eyes' as well, tbh.. unless they have also seen him raise his bat after making one of his numerous FC hundreds... + hundred on debut in intl cricket etc

80 percent of the overs will be bowled by pacers against us in test matches. Not really a good practice this for misbah.

Missing players that would definitely be in the side usually are :

Chris Jordan
Luke Wright
Ed Joyce
Ben Brown
Steve Magoffin
Ross Taylor
Chris Nash

If Hafeez after 13 years if international cricket doesn't understand basics of cricket then he should be kicked out of international, FC and club cricket immediately. Playing across the line in England when the ball is still new is as ridiculous as it gets.

2 overs till new ball. Should be good practice for Misbah. Sarfraz should come next.

All those guys except taylor are mediocre esp in the longer format

aah the 78* in last innings , dint remember that . The only good knock was played by Azhar imo , should have got a 100 had played beautifully .

He made 92 not out in the 3rd test. He was unlucky not to make a century he just ran out of partners but we won the game so it was a good knock. Also he made a half century earlier in that summer vs australia at Headingly in a game which we won also. So he has the ability to do well in England.

No matter what the level of opposition, it is not easy to score 300 odd inside 80 overs with just three down

Good to see the batsmen making hay. Azhar needn't bat again, as he seems to have adequate preparation by now; good to see him raise his strike rate over 50 :D. Poor Misbah has mostly faced spin, so he is not really too well prepared for facing the likes of Broad, Finn and Stokes in these conditions.

It's a Division 2 side.

Is Azhar Ali the Test best batsman in Asia?

He is brilliant. He has already outperformed Kohli with just 1 tour match.

Opposiiton may be weak. But it is still not easy to score 150 in England.

Sarfraz needs batting practice!!! We should try Sami Aslam for acclimatize and understand English pitch. Don't know how good Hafeez in this series

He is biggest pessimistic I've ever seen in my life. Doesn't even gets happy even on this BD.

On flip side, when he lost the argument with a poster, then he said, well if they (PAK) play well it's good for them. What kind of statement is this for a team you support?

It's very obvious that he has his personal likes and dislikes (about teams and players) which he always try to impose by twisting arguments with others. I don't take him seriously and don't even read his comments.

When eng was in UAE getting a whopping Pak selected a strong team for them to practice against

Sami Aslam will do worse than Hafeez. Too late now. Have to play Hafeez because Sami has no practice. Just hope Hafeez gets some practice in the next innings.

England are well aware that Misbah can only score and survive against spin, and so are starving him of pace until the Test match, to impede his practice and improvement.

Mind you, the second new ball is due now, and Anderson and Broad humiliated him with the second new ball in the UAE.

Indians scored 333/4 dec against Leicestershire and then 341/6 dec against Derbyshire in 2014.

Both flattish tracks and predictably our bowling didn't do well though.

You never know with practice games.

What's impressive till now is how Pakistan dismantled the previous team while scoring 350 on that track first innings.

But apart from that, can't look too much into anything. The tour games are designed that way.

3rd wicket for Archer. Misbah is gone, as expected by a pacer.

Actually England always put weaker teams against their rivals and also host them with flat tracks as you have mentioned.

No, Murali Vijay is.

Man I can hear the seagulls on the radio. I love Brighton. Been there 4 times and loved it every time.
