I will take the well articulated explanation of freelance_cricketer

"We can do a draft in which we can take an individual's will very much our of the equation or limit it to a large extent.

Like for example I can only pick a player whose initials start with the letter at which the last picked players name ends.

So someone ahead of me picks Shane Watson (lol) then I have to pick someone whose name starts with 'N'

I pick Neil Wagner..

Next person has to pick someone with R

You only need to give the first person a random letter, no? Not everyone

Sorry misread it. I will just pick a random letter for the first person, sounds good.

The only issues is player surnames ending in x/y/z. Are there many players you think with these surnames or is it an issue?

Y and z are okay. X is an issue, can’t think of any players who start with an X. But also, no one’s name ends with an x. So I think we should be ok.

If there’s a problem we’ll figure it out when the time comes?

Yep sounds good. I doubt people will pick players with hard surname endings to stuff others up

Everyone mentioned in the OP, please confirm your participation :usman

I think Moh@n also said he was in for the next draft. Unless I have him mixed up with someone else.

I will be available for only 3 hours,so you have to wait when I pick.
Are you ok with this?

when is the draft, i can play depending on timing.

The draft will start once ten participants get finalized.
therealAB, Don Bradman should be excluded.

ok thanks, im usually free in evenings (like 8pm bst), esp early in the week, if that works then id like to be included.

also is there any guidance on what kinda conditions we choosing a team for, i.e. extra spinner, seam or spin bowling all rounders, etc...

We haven't considered factors like conditions before, though we should do a draft for that later, like a draft for Tests in Asia or something.

Anyway, for now we'll stick with the general all-conditions type of lineups.

Just tagging if interested, anikrc1.

9. Last Monetarist
10. Thunderbolt14

This should be fun.

Following the end of every round a new starting letter will be picked, as going twice in a row would be a huge advantage
FDP, you are first up with the letter B
No Bradman, obvs

Just to be clear, B can be the starting letter of either the first or last names? Also why B :ssmith

Just a question on general housekeeping, how long does a poster have in theory to make his selection? Is there a risk of getting timed out?

Gonna be fun..:))

Btw where is maddgenius, hasn't been online from a week.

24 hours is the general rule, but anyone regularly taking longer than 12 hours will generally not be invited back to future drafts.

Obviously this is not people's lives and their are extenuating circumstances

just realised that. If he doesn't make his pick, sub him out. Is there anyone else who would like to participate in the draft just in case

Very good point - unless it is the end of the day in the subcontinent where the posters can take the night off, the time out must be set to 2hrs max

I think a two hour limit would be too stringent, four or five hours is probably more realistic.

Ta, that makes total sense.

That is a bit stringent, people have lives. Like if one is working, they might not be on for 8 hours

If 24 hours though is too hard one shouldn't be participating

In that case if anyone is still interested, they can be a part of the draft assuming maddgenius won't be available.

freelance_cricketer. If you pick now I can pick tonight. Obviously cannot send pick to mod

What's up with freelance_cricketer?

Is he busy or upset that his first pick won't be the one he wished for? :)))

No SRT for Bhaijaan this time! :))

Yep I am in and so is maddgenius, thanks.

i like the fact that not only can you think of the best player for yourself, but if u want to mess things up choose someone whose last letter of their last name is strange.

anyhoo, im online too for the next few hours so hopefully get to post today.

freelance_cricketer bhaijaan ka A ke saath pick :broad

therealAB I was wondering if we could determine the order for this draft based on who’s online? So maybe skip to you for now

freelance_cricketer, you have been online, plz make your pick!

Can we possibly agree on a time when all of us will be available?

Tauseef Ahmed

I just checked his Wikipedia, it’s hilarious :)))

A typical Pakistani off-spinner, flight was never his forte[citation needed] . Instead he bowled flattish, fastish off-breaks that spun big and occasionally surprised batsmen, and himself, with an intended off-spinner that did not spin.

Wait, I see a loophole here.

So now the letter is T. Who is supposed to pick? Freelance Cricketer or ElRaja?

Say if it's my turn and I don't like the letter assigned to me, I will just not pick my player and keep waiting till I get a favourable alphabet after my turn is skipped.

How to fix this gap? I think this might get exploited.

The alphabet won't change i. e freelancecricketer will pick a player whose name starts with 'a' whenever he is online.

After him, it's jeeteshssaxena and then me.

Indeed and it’s unfair to elraja actually. Bhaijaan needs to be at disadvantage as he’s not picking despite being online. Maybe as a penalty we should assign letter Z to him for his first pick :yk

this is a lot harder than i thought, also just realised will need to save an easy letter for a more specialist player, Ab Fan got it spot on with gilchirst imo

but i think ill settle for a left arm opening pacer, trent boult.

so i guess its now madgenius with the letter T too.
