The Russian invasion of Ukraine

I see general Armageddon has been sacked .. all going to plan then.

Russia hasn't taken soledar

Quite normal in Soviet/Russia military for a change in command. It happened during WW2. Read up on it.

As for Soledar it isn't completely taken and won't be for weeks because the Ukranians under the instructions of NATO have mined every square foot. Every closet in every room in every building could be a trap.

That's part of what it's takeing long.

I will repeat the war is over, Russia won in March. We reached the Kursk moment then. What's happening right now is the slow dismantling of Ukraine's army and NATO's weapon reserves.

The war is almost like a team having to chase 350 but being 200-9. Ukraine being the chasers.

Four weeks then maybe.

This the real world not call of duty. Any proper war between two near peer forces would never end. It would be attrition until one side is unable to sustain the losses.

Dozens fire less than 2 weeks ago. They fired many a couple of weeks before that too. In fact they've been firing regularly and in the order of 50-150 missiles a pop for several months. Why not admit you were wrong, MSM was wrong - the Russians will not be running out of missiles anytime soon.

So they haven't fired missiles en masse for over 2 weeks now?

you're a little mental... Ukraine is also on the verge of taking Kremina now

So they haven't fired missiles en masse for over 2 weeks now?
Oh right - so they've run out now? What happens when they launch another wave of 100 missiles? Are you still going to carry on like MSM that they Russians have run out.

First they told us Russia could only sustain the attacks for 2 weeks, then it was they'll run out on March 23rd (BBC), then it was the Russians are using then final stocks in May/June. Then it was the Russians would run out in July, then August, then in October when a huge barrage was launched MSM finally dropped the line Russia are running out to they're getting them from other countries.

I shared multiple times an article written by RUSI (a British organisation) that explained that Russia isn't going to run out of missiles anytime soon.

But experts like you would lead us to believe otherwise.

Ukraine is also on the verge of taking Kremina now

They were on the verge in October too.

The war isn't about territory - like MSM you haven't bothered to understand territory can be recaptured but dead soldiers can't be replaced.

Even if the Ukranians take it - so what? Their army is being decimated and you can now see videos popping up on social media of the very young inexperienced boys sent as fodder.

All of this is happening and the vast majority of the Russian mobilised forces are still not in the field.

Apparently Ukraine are winning. Even CNN can't cover the truth even if they're trying their darn hardest too.

Ukranian soldier: "In Soledar, no one counts the dead"

He also says: "“Everyone understands that the city will be abandoned. Everyone understands this,” he said. “I just want to understand what the point [in fighting house to house] is. Why die, if we are going to leave it anyway today or tomorrow?”"

So basically Ukranian soldiers on the ground are admitting they have lost and are just being sent as cannon fodder.
CNN write: "The Ukrainians have lost many troops in Soledar but the ranks are being replenished".

Question is, how does replenishing a trained soldier with an untrained-inexperienced boy change the dynamic?

This is not an Israel-Palestine thread. Let's not derail.

Israel-Palestine issue is a different issue. Not similar to Russia-Ukraine.
According to your logic, if one party is too weak, it should surrender . They would be fools to keep fighting. As you said a thin line between bravery and stupidity. I am quoting you here . So that being said why should Palestinians not surrender as they are too weak to fight Israel also. How is that different? Would love your input.

Ingushetia is mostly Muslims. It borders Georgia, so has seen some opposition but now the Nazis are in control of Ukraine, this seems to be fake news.

Russian defence update .

Today we destroyed 4 Bradley's.

Ha ha... The yanks haven't delivered any yet

and this guy has the nerve to call others names. The equipment isn’t sent after public announcements - it doesn’t work like that. In the same way the uk was training AFU troops long before anyone announced or reported it publicly.

Keep believing the Kremlin lies... After all they've destroyed about 50 HIMAR systems too.

No Bradley's have gone to Ukraine yet

Russia's military says it has captured the Ukrainian salt-mine town Soledar after a long battle, calling it an "important" step for its offensive.

The victory would allow Russian troops to push on to the nearby city of Bakhmut, and cut off the Ukrainian forces there, a spokesman said.

This was a very confident and ambitious statement from Moscow.

But Ukrainian officials said the fight for Soledar was still going on and accused Russia of "information noise".

The battle for Soledar has been one of the bloodiest of the war.

The town is relatively small, with a pre-war population of just 10,000, and its strategic significance is debatable. But if it is confirmed that Russian forces have seized control of it, then there will likely be a big sigh of relief in the Kremlin.

BBC

I think it's safe to say Soledar has fallen.

It is also important to continue to point out that Russian mercenaries have taken the town. These are highly expendable troops and are different to regular or Russian special forces..

The same is for the chechens who are also expendable but tough sobs...the bulk of the Russian force that has been amassed has not engaged which has always been a massive tactical error in my opinion.

The ukrops are losing regular troops to irregulars. Its the worst possible situation if you are a tactical commander. Imagine the regular Indian army being decimated by the FC and the tribals before the proper pak army has even fully engaged..

◾️RF destroyed two US-made M777 and M109 "Paladin" artillery systems in the DPR;

Good. I like this. We need more news like this.

Make it costly for them (America). They have ruined far too many countries in the past and still continue to do so.

Well said.

BBC, CNN claim to be good sources but I have never seen(from them) so much lies and made up stories by any media since the Iraq war.

Western media still believes Ukraine is winning and its readers too. :))

Next week or two Russia will send in the troops to hopefully wipe out these Nazis once and for all. :)

Bro I worked at the bbc for 3 years. Yes i wasn't a journalist but I did experience the overall culture of the place. And I will just say this. Its toxic for black and Asians. I saw staff in tears. One lady in particular was beyond angry. I also recruited and saw the problems in the way they recruit. Finally i sat with some senior managers etc and all I'll say is that their attitudes stank..

And my dept was relatively diverse. The stories i heard about other areas were just messed up..

The Russia Ukraine war reporting is akin to Hitlers Nazi propaganda. I would put money on not a single article is accurate.

Its a very difficult war to determine. Have you noticed there is hardly any mainstream footage? When US/UK invaded Iraq in 2003, they were happy showing 'shock & awe' even glorying it with glee.

You never got back to us why it’s different for israel Palestine conflict vs Russia vs Ukraine.

Mods specifically said only discuss russ Vs Ukraine and again you raise a question which was removed earlier. Look at MIG’s post above.

The situation with the Ukrainians according to alternative media is really desperate in and around Bakhmut and Soledar. Some brigades are down to 30% and have been reconstituted. The morale is very low. They will fight on because deserters are being hunted down and executed by SBU and other officers. But most soldiers quietly admit that they know the outcome.

Saw this on another forum. Russian TOS1 system being used against Ukrainian fortified positions. It is frankly one of those things that we not have invented.

Are you still going to tell us they are out of missiles?

Seems a pressure tactic to force Germany to provide leopard tanks. 10 challengers won't really make much difference but can aid in urban defence. Like I said above time is running out for the ukrops...

NATO chief hints at more heavy weapons deliveries to Ukraine
Jens Stoltenberg says he expects more weapons deliveries to war-torn Ukraine after UK pledges Challenger 2 tanks.

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg has hailed recent pledges of heavy weapons deliveries from Western allies to Ukraine, saying he expected more “in the near future”.

The head of the transatlantic military alliance made the comments on Sunday, a day after a wave of Russian attacks across Ukraine again targeted critical infrastructure and left at least 30 people dead after a residential building was hit in the east-central city of Dnipro.

“The recent pledges for heavy warfare equipment are important — and I expect more in the near future,” Stoltenberg told Germany’s Handelsblatt daily ahead of a meeting on Friday of defence officials from the bloc meant to coordinate arms transfers to Kyiv. What NATO refers to as the Ukraine Defense Contact Group is set to hold its third meeting at the US Ramstein Air Base in the German state of Rhineland-Palatinate on Friday.

Asked whether Germany must also move to provide heavier weapons to Ukraine, Stoltenberg said: “We are in a decisive phase of the war. We are experiencing fierce fighting. Therefore, it is important that we provide Ukraine with the weapons it needs to win — and to continue as an independent nation.”

Russia has warned that any Challenger 2 tanks that Britain sends to Ukraine to help the war effort “will burn”.

British prime minister Rishi Sunak confirmed the UK will provide Challenger 2 tanks to Ukraine during a call with Volodymyr Zelensky over the weekend.

Responding on Monday, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said new arms supplies from countries like Britain and Poland would not change the situation on the ground.

“They are using this country as a tool to achieve their anti-Russian goals,” he added. “These tanks are burning and will burn just like the rest.”

Meanwhile, Russia and Belarus began joint air force drills today, amid fears that Moscow could use its ally to launch a new ground offensive in Ukraine.

Belarus said the drills were defensive in nature but Ukraine has recently warned of possible attacks from its northern neighbour.

Key Points
British Challenger tanks sent to war ‘will burn’ - Kremlin

Im sure there are many in the BBC who like many Brits think this war is not going well but cant say it.

Mykhailo Mudryk: Shakhtar Donetsk pledge £22m to Ukraine war effort after Chelsea transfer

Shakhtar Donetsk president Rinat Akhmetov has pledged to donate £22m to the Ukrainian war effort following the transfer of Mykhailo Mudryk to Chelsea.

The Premier League side signed Mudryk from Shakhtar on Sunday in a deal worth up to £89m, a transfer record for Ukrainian football.

Akhmetov said the money would help a project named 'Heart of Azovstal,' aimed at "helping Mariupol defenders and the families of fallen soldiers".

Ukraine was invaded by Russia in 2022.

"I want to thank the entire civilised world for helping Ukraine," said Akhmetov.

"Today we are able to talk about Ukrainian football thanks to the Ukrainian army, the Ukrainian people, and the tremendous support of the entire civilised world."

Akhmetov said he had "mixed feelings" about Mudryk, 22, leaving Shakhtar for Chelsea.

"I have never made it a secret that my dream is to win European trophies," he said.

"This means that players like Mudryk should be invited to our club, to our Ukrainian championship, and we should win European trophies with such players.

"Unfortunately, it is impossible now, as Ukraine is fighting the horrendous and unjust war waged against us by the Russian Federation."

The Shakhtar president said money from Mudryk's transfer fee would go towards providing medical and prosthetic treatment, psychological support and meeting specific requests in order to help Mariupol defenders and the families of fallen soldiers.

"Their acts of bravery are unparalleled in the modern history," Akhmetov said.

He also said Shakhtar would play a friendly against Chelsea at Donbass Arena in Ukraine.

Europe awakens to the threat of sabotage by Russian agents
Attacks on critical infrastructure from France to Denmark bear the hallmark of Russian operatives, experts say.

Suspicion has fallen on Russia over a series of confirmed or apparent acts of sabotage and espionage that took place late last year in Western Europe, experts say, with European countries increasingly taking measures in response.

The acts came after two events that hurt Russian interests. In September, explosions in the Baltic Sea put Russia’s Nord Stream gas pipelines to Germany out of use. The Kremlin blamed the sabotage on the United Kingdom, without evidence. Ukraine and Poland blamed Russia but also provided no evidence.

Then, on October 7, the Kerch Strait Bridge was bombed, interrupting Moscow’s ability to supply Russian-annexed Crimea, an attack Russia blamed on Ukraine’s military intelligence.

It may have been a coincidence, but the day after the Kerch bridge bombing, trains across northern Germany ground to a halt after cables that enabled train drivers to communicate were sabotaged.

“It is clear that this was a targeted and malicious action,” minister for transport Volker Wissing told a news conference, without identifying who might be responsible.

Two days later, the Danish island of Bornholm was plunged into darkness after the undersea cable that supplies it with electricity from Sweden was severed.

USA . Remember Blinken stated after the Nord Stream attack, this is a great opportunity for USA.

Finally Russia, China and others are going to end the empire of the USA. The world will be a safer place for all.

Seriously you need to go and read and understand what is going on here.

Bakhmut is gonna fall. That's the second defence line gone.
The third line is the weakest and once that goes its a clear path to dnipro..and then there are 650k troops amassed at the border.

Time is running out. Yet you come on here and spout this nonsense.

Ukrainian adviser quits after claims over Russian missile that killed dozens
Oleksiy Arestovych said rocket that hit Dnipro building detonated after being downed by Ukraine forces

A Ukrainian presidential adviser has resigned after causing widespread anger when he suggested a Russian missile that killed dozens had been shot down by Ukraine.

45 people were killed in the south-central city of Dnipro when a Russian X-22 anti-ship ballistic missile hit an apartment block on Saturday. Rescuers called off the search on Tuesday with 20 people still missing.

In comments to a YouTube channel , hours after the attack, Oleksiy Arestovych said the rocket had detonated after it had been downed by Ukrainian air defence forces.

“The rocket was shot down, it fell on the driveway, it exploded when it fell,” he told Feigin Live.

Hundreds of Ukrainian members of civil society and several prominent figures took to social media in the days afterwards, demanding the presidential administration sack Arestovych for making unverified statements. They said the comments aided Russian propaganda, which frequently portrays attacks as the fault of Ukraine’s armed forces.

In a statement, which did not address the remarks directly, Ukraine’s air defence forces said they did not currently have the technological capabilities to detect or shoot down ballistic missiles.

This is quite poor from the Ukrainians. Seems any mildly differing views are being stamped down upon. They could have used this to positively spin it and say they shot down the missile thus proving their defence but putin is to blame for any death be it accidental or deliberate.

Also their interior minister just got killed. Could be an accident or a Russian strike on his helicopter..

The three main figures in Ukraine's interior ministry have been killed in a helicopter crash beside a nursery in an eastern suburb of the capital Kyiv.

Interior Minister Denys Monastyrsky, 42, died alongside his first deputy minister and state secretary.

Seventeen people died when the helicopter came down in Brovary around 08:30 local time (06:30 GMT), including four children, authorities said.

There is no indication the crash was anything other than an accident.

But the SBU state security service said it was following several possible causes for the crash, which included sabotage as well as a technical malfunction or breach of flight rules.

Mr Monastyrsky, who was one of President Volodymyr Zelensky's longest serving political advisers, is the highest profile Ukrainian casualty since the war began.

The deputy head of Ukraine's presidential office, Kyrylo Tymoshenko, said the minister had been en route to a war "hot spot" when his helicopter went down. The head of police in the north-eastern city of Kharkiv, Volodymyr Tymoshko, said the ministerial team were on their way to meet him there and he had spoken to them only yesterday.

The minister's death cuts to the heart of the government in Kyiv as the interior ministry has the vital task of maintaining security and running the police during the war.

President Zelensky has spoken of a terrible tragedy that claimed the lives of "true patriots".

Give us tanks, says Zelensky, as Western allies meet

Ukrainian President Volodymr Zelensky has made a direct appeal to Germany to provide tanks ahead of crunch talks involving dozens of Western allies at Ramstein air base in southern Germany.

The US and European nations have already promised Kyiv more equipment to fight Russia's invasion.

Berlin is under growing pressure to allow its Leopard 2 tanks to be sent.

"If you have Leopard [tanks], then give them to us," Mr Zelensky told German public TV.

"These leopards won't go through Russia. We're defending ourselves," he said, in remarks criticising the German government's hesitant attitude.

Defence officials from more than 50 countries are due to meet at Ramstein, a day after the US and several European nations pledged more equipment to help Ukraine fend off any further Russian offensives.

Almost 11 months after Russia launched its war against Ukraine, Nato military officials believe Moscow is planning a renewed spring offensive with troop numbers bolstered by a partial mobilisation since the end of September.

The UK also offered 14 of its battle tanks recently - but Kyiv wants more.

We keep hearing Ukr is winning the war..yet Zelensky is begging other nations for more weapons..?

Huge events over the last couple of weeks. Russia has obliterated many Ukrainian forces, captured various territory and is ready to finish the job soon.

Out of desperation and worry about their money laundering ending, the west are sending all sorts tanks , weapons which will be good target practice.

Putin makes others leaders look like disney characters, the man is a genius and Im happy to opoenly say I agree with him.

Doesn’t add up does it?

"Overall, 15 combat brigades, a regiment, 5 battalions (divisions) and a brigade, 6 regiments and 11 battalions of operational (combat), logistics and technical support had been established in the Armed Forces from the beginning of the antiterrorist operation in 20154 to the year 2015."

The above is prior to the war. So if you do the math its been devastating. A tank battalion in the US contains about 56 tanks. 1 company is 14 tanks.

In the US a brigade can have two or three battalions. So upward of 116 tanks.

So if we go by US config and do an estimate(this may not be entirely accurate) then before the war ukrops would have had about 300-350 tanks..maybe more..they had the largest number in Europe. Where are they now? What happened to the afore mentioned brigades and battalions? We have heard they have had to combine troops brigades etc and that is because of massive attrition.

I think instead of shouting at each other on this thread we need to start tallying up numbers and attrition. Otherwise we will never know what's really going on until the map changes.

They do have tanks it's the maintenance that is buggered the infrastructure factories have been bombed there's no spare parts and overhauling

That's why they need ready in action tanks but even the western tanks will eventually need maintenance they are not as rugged on the field as ukranian and russian options .
Plus the western tanks are really expensive and in many cases will need sappers and specialised engineering vehicles to clear the ground for them or they will sink and become stuck in frontline as well.

An adviser to President Volodymyr Zelensky has said that the West's "indecision" over sending extra weapons to Ukraine is "killing more of our people".

"Every day of delay is the death of Ukrainians," Mykhailo Podolyak wrote on Twitter.

His remarks come after Ukraine's defence minister said he had a "frank discussion" with his German counterpart about German Leopard 2 tanks, which Kyiv is urgently requesting to confront Russian armour.

Germany has insisted that it is not blocking the delivery of German-made Leopard tanks, which other countries want to send.

"We had a frank discussion on Leopards 2. To be continued," Oleksii Reznikov said after meeting Western allies on Friday.

The meeting at Ramstein Air Base in Germany brought an agreement to supply more armoured vehicles, air defence systems and ammunition.

On Saturday, an adviser to Mr Reznikov told the BBC that Nato countries committed to helping Ukraine need to be several steps ahead of the enemy.

Vladimir Putin is a battle-hardened warrior. A master chess player.

Zelensky should think about his people and focus on ending the war (instead of prolonging the war).

The turks weren't too happy with the way the leopard 1 performed in Syria. The Russians have better ant tank weapons than they supplied to the Syrians. Kornets will make short work of older leopards also tge Mi28 will go hunting with its new longer range anti tank missiles.

The Germany are rightly reluctant to send tanks in case it effects their defence industry..the uk and us have battle tested weapons. German and European ones have not lived up to their billing.

So tragic to see Ukraine sending in kids as cannon fodder.

Ukrainian people need to wake up and wake up quick, Nato proxy war and their puppet are ruining these people.

Soon Europe will completely cut off russian energy imports and next in line is stopping refined products like diesel. One man's loss is another's gain. Two countries making a killing from this stance is USA and India.

American energy exports are booming and Europe is now heavily dependent on US Oil & Gas supplies. Prior to the sanctions Russia was Europe's largest supplier of refined products including diesel and petrol. Now it comes from India. So India buys heavily discounted Russian crude, their refineries turn it into product and sell it to the Europeans at market rate.

Europeans/UK are dumb!
