Third Test match between England and Pakistan ends in a draw as England win series 1-0

Not a bad wicket for your 600th. Congrats Jimmy, my favourite English cricketer - I doubt ever anyone after this will reach there. I’ll write a letter to someone today - the best thing we can do is rope James Anderson for a long term role at BCB high performance centre - there can’t be a better teacher to handle our boys without Aussie or West Indian shoulders.

I just feel like today might not be his day. He is doubly under pressure here. AA has scored and been unbeaten once. Number 6 is a good spot for debutants to try.

what an opportunity for Asad to play best ever match saving innings. And all will be forgotten.
 
If Asad can get leave Not Out tonight, he’ll earn his spot for at least one more series. There is noting called dead rubber in Test cricket and the situation is not “soft” for sure. But, I am not bothered about the runs he scores here - he has to remain NO...

Azhar’s already saved his spot in the team with a 141*, now it’s time for Asad to do the same so we’ll be stuck with these two for the next 2-3 years.

Light permitting, let PAK face 12 overs of second ball ...... they’ll give Anderson 5 overs here, then about 40 minutes rest and 6 overs with second ball - he has 7 so far, 3 away from a 10for....

Mate do you know anything about test cricket? The only thing that mattered was occupying the crease to ensure the draw . Which Azhar and Abid did effectively . Even if Pakistan had another 50 runs more it does not make an iota of difference to the outcome of the match .

What you mean total required to avoid a loss by an innings ? There’s no such thing . As if they got into a lead by 20 runs , and the match got called off it will still be a draw .

I suggest you stick to limited overs cricket if your moaning about run rate in a match that Pakistan are looking to save .
 
what's the even point of any risky runs in this scenario, where the runs are literally worthless. i know strike rotation disturb bowler rhythm and is irritating etc but these risky singles, just imagine the last a run out in this scenario, sometimes i wonder the IQ of our batsman.
 
I don't think Babar can be remain not out without scoring much runs, he needs to stay for the sake of country as well as his own reputation.

Shafiq still looking tentative around that off stump channel. His bat is still coming down at an angle. Full marks to Azhar for rectifying his technical flaw but this guy doesn't seem to learn.
 
Anderson is one of the three genuine active ATGs in the game today. If we expand the list to inactive, then we can include Steyn who is still available for limited overs cricket.

Must be an ATG with that away average of 32. There's a reason why the Aussies coined the term "clouderson" even though I don't agree with the tag, there's some truth in it.

Give Anderson a kookaburra instead and take away the English overcast conditions, he's not the same bowler, not even close.

Steyn averages 24 - this is what you call ATG material. Even the majority of English fans and analysts don't consider Anderson to be an ATG, including PP's two most notable England fans, Robert and James.

I want to see a blockathon. Where he isn't playing for runs.
I can look past runs and avgs, looking at context too.

You will see a lot of fans who will not be happy if he fails and not be happy if he scores ( will say pointless runs)
but batting time to save a test is an important skill-where you say to the opposition " over my dead body"
 
Stokes still lack longevity, plus he isn't as impact full bowler in LOIs as he is in Tests. And not enough extra ordinary performance with the bat either in LOIs, maybe 3 or 4 max.

There are holes in every career including Steyn’s. The only exception would be someone like McGrath, who passes every single test with flying colors.

The fact that Anderson has more Test wickets than any fast bowler in history, and is thus the only non-spinner in the exclusive 600 club, makes him a genuine great of the game.
 
Babar missed the opportunity in 1st Innings.

Day 3 was perfect for batting for unfortunately he choked with the scoreboard pressure
 
Babar still lack the flawless defensive game required for ATG Level test batsman but he is getting there. on other hand mr. Technique have lasted longer then expected, amazing

Can go either ways I think, both are solid LOI outfits. Aus lacks bit of fire power in middle order when compared to the likes of Buttler and Stokes but they are still a top team. In pace bowling Aus definitely has the edge.

Josh Philippe and Riley Meredith will be two young players from Aus to watch out for going forward.
 
After every delivery, Shafiq would shadow practice playing with a straight bat only to again play with an angled bat on the ball :)))
 
This is unbelievable stuff. It is pitch black and we are still playing. We should immediately stop playing. It is not safe to carry on playing. I cant even see the ball on TV.
 
Azhar Ali still had a decent test career until 2 years ago. Shafiq was always a mental midget and serial bottler.

Broad is also on the way to be ATG.
He has already taken 500 wickets.

There are more holes in Anderson's career and you certainly cannot enter the ATG bracket with that away record but I get it this is coming from your England hat.

Would you rate Broad as an ATG when he reaches 600 wickets as well?
 
It is now raining heavily. Thunderstorms and we are still playing. The extent the umpires will go to to make England win. ICC must take notice.
 
I hate Broad the most out of all English cricketers. I thank Yuvi for giving him a phainta.

If you are teaching that many wickets you are an ATG. Consistency and longevity is also a test of ones greatness. No point of having
great stats but lasting 15-20 tests
 
England will win 9/10 vs Aussies, pass on whatever you are having man, this really did get you high. Maybe you are still watching the highlights of last WC semifinal.
 
Anderson put in the hard yards. Our bowlers go for quick bucks in pajama leagues.
