Of course he deserves to be in the team but, whomever is selected in his place, needs support or don't support Pakistan at all.

In a cricket team i would prefer a limited but hardworking player, over a talented yet reckless batsman. These players add no value to the team. I.e Afridi, and Umar Akmal

I think this period is better for his development than to be playing in England with a poor form. Like we Indians do with our bowlers, Pakistanis put too much pressure on young batsmen. Too much expectations can kill the youngsters.

Nothing will solve the issue unless Pakistan blood in youngsters. Keep going back to the same players and result will be similar.

Just like Pakistan kept holding back young pacers like Riaz and Junaid and kept playing oldies like Tanvir and Cheema it took them no where. Similar shake up is needed with batting line up.

So I checked to see his many batters averaged higher than him who have played between 60 and 80 games. Ie a similar number of games.

Guess what. There are only a handful of players since 2006.

People look at what they want him to be rather than what he is.

The notion that he's the most talent young batsman in the world is an overstatement. He's very talented, but he is well behind the likes of Kohli, Root and Pujara in terms of talent and surely when it comes application. Well he is well behind in that regard.

The excuse that he bats too low doesn't work. He has been batting at this position since day one and he was a different player in the same role 2/3 years back.

At the moment he's more on the level of Chandimal, Williamson and Nasir Hossain. Which is a level below the likes of Kohli, Root and Pujara who are the three best young batsmen in the world.

But it's a farce that duds like Farhat and Malik are ahead of him. He didn't deserve to be axed at all. Absolutely not. He is the only proper ODI batsman in the country who doesn't get bogged down.
Jamshed has disappointed tbh.

But Umar's form has been very poor since he got dropped and there's no excuse for it.
