Shoaib out Haris in.

A more attacking option with the ball, and a far more competent batsman.

This Aussies side is no mug against spinners. They have handsomely beaten India in India and handled their spinners with great ease.

You need to be at your absolute best to beat this Aussies team something we managed against England too

Yes. This team WERE mugs against spin for quite some time. But the last 12-18 months they have begun to rectify that, winning games in Asia & at home against some decent spin attacks.

Still worth trying the spin option at Taunton though- as I think Wahab will go for his usual 8+ per over & unfortunately Hasan has lost the spark that won you the CT last time.

Even Amir can go missing in this kind of match- still not fully reliable.

Cummins, Starc & Nile will be testing the short ball again but I suspect not as repeatedly as the WI. They are all capable of swing when they pitch it up. If it's overcast or damp, I think they'll go full.

Much improved forecast as compared to Bristol. So I hope for a complete match and good competition.

Someone above said the washout can help us get to the semis. If so, I wouldn't mind it. :usman

Depends on the trust we have in our team.
If we think we can win than 2 points>1 in any case and and if we are sure we will lose than 1point>0 obviously.
All boils down to the trust :sarf

washout it is then

I'm predicting there will be a nasty incident with the crowd v players and/or umpiring controversy.

yeah but you lost against windies

If you actully watch cricket you would know West Indies is decent team so losing to them is not a bad thing
I do agree the manner we lost in was not good at all but that's Pakistan in tournaments they always start bad and than just get better and better. It's like in the champions trophy final when Kohli was dropped and than next ball was caught Nasser Hussian basically described Pakistan cricket in general when he said Pakistan cricket at its best one minute down next minute up. That's just how this team works and more importantly they smashed India by 180 runs. So yes Pakistan can beat Australia and they have done it before as well

Fakhar will play a huge role against Australia.

My prediction is he will score 150+.

Weather is likely to be fine in the day with cloudy for a while but showers expected at night/evening so it's a day game? If so we should get game hopefully.

In the group stage, we have no realistic chance of beatimg them. They are the best team in the wc by a distance.
So take the point!
We will have 4 points from 4 games , which is on track for what i predicted and will keep us on track to qualify for the semis.

We can beat them. We don't deserve to be in the tournament with such a negative attitude. Currently I am putting the Aussies on par with England. If we can defeat England then can do the Aussies as well. In their last match the Aussies were five down for well under a 100, If our attack can do that we can finish them off for under 200. Believe!

Game starts at 10 30. Should get enough overs in for a game.

2 days ago there were 80% chances of rain and now it is already reduced to 40% between match time, more or less match will go as planned in worst case scenario it could be a 35-40 over game. in any scenario i will assume pakistan will beat Aussies. They will be knackered after India game on sunday.

1.Imam Ul Haq
2.Fakhar Zaman
3.Babar Azam
4.Mohammad Hafeez
5.Sarfraz Ahmed
6.Shoaib Malik
7.Imad Wasim
8.Shadab Khan
9.Wahab Riaz
10.Mohammad Amir
11.Shaheen Afridi

Pakistan should not alter winning combination. Shoaib Malik took crucial wicket as well. Plus his experience at some stage in this line up will be handy. England changed winning combination against Pakistan and they lost.

After seeing Taunton pitch it looks a belter with some bounce if the use the same pitch, on a used surface lets play extra spinner of go with same combo?

For this match I'll sit out Asif and play Imad.

Get 10 overs from Shadab and 20-22 overs from Imad, Hafeez and Malik. Australia struggle against spin and even if they milk them they won't be able to dispatch them to the fence. I'd still play three pacers in case plan A goes haywire.

Its a short ground. Spinners will go for plenty too.

This heavyweight clash deserved a proper international venue. To play at Taunton is belittling the clash.

This is very important match for us if it’s rain threat then we should bowl first as D/L might come into picture

Starc will be the key. He can easily dismiss Imam and Fakhar in the first few overs. Australia are favourites. We will need to be at our best with Wahab Amir Shadab and Babar all having great games.

Australia are 5 times champions for a reason.

Asif will play the role of inzi from 92, dropping him is suicidal. He's the only batsman who can hit big against Pacers, if he comes off in one of the big games he'll win us one all by himself especially if it's a shortened game which this one might well be. I will not drop Asif at any cost.

90% chances of rain are predicted for the day.

Unless it changes drastically as the same was forecasted for the Pak Sl game and we all know what happened.

Excellent post.

The management isn't going to disturb the winning combination either.

Imad will hopefully stay out and give us a chance of winning our next few games. He wastes a very vital spot.
Does imad owe you money?
You take every possible opportunity to criticise him, give the kid a break!

Possibility that this game will be a wash out too!
I hope so(i know thats a negative mindset but reaching the semi is more important than ego).

How are we gonna reach the semis with a NRR like ours. We need wins and by good margins. The best scenario for us would be to have a 20 over game with all guns blazing. We have a much better chance of winning a shortened game.

Look at the forecast now it is much better than it was forecasted a few days ago. The rain is clearing up for Wednesday. I doubt we will have more than an hour or so interruption

All weather forecasts (bbc weather and met office) showing rain throughout the night before and through the day .... Definately going to be wet outfield even if it doesn't stop raining for an hour or 2 ...match is defo going to be rained off 100%

Now forcast looking good. Only 40 % chances of rain. Hopefully we will get a full match.

Lol, people Imad is not a spinner. He'd be a waste at the spinners spot. Malik and Hafeez are better spinners than him. We can't afford him in the team. I think Hasnain should be given a shot.

Rain all day on Wednesday in Taunton.

Match likely to be abandoned.

1 point each.

As far as my calculations and predictions, a point from a wadh out will be right on track. 4 points from 4 games is exactly where i calculated we should be. If we play 50 overs or 20 overs against aussies, at this time we will lose!
No need to worry about nrr just at the moment. If my predictions are right we will qualify straight through to the semis in 4th place.
My predictions were
WI lose
England win
SL win
Aus lose
Predicted 4 points after 4 games.
Not quite the results i predicted, due to the weather, but doesnt matter as long as we achieve the target of 4 points after 4 games.
India win
SA win
NZ lose
Beng win
Afghan win
8 points from our last 5 games to give a total of 12. Should be enough to qualify direct into semis.
Obviously, some results may differ and the weather can mess things up , but generally this should be the points gained.

First of all, he isn't any kid

Secondly, he needs a long, like really long break from ODIs.
Hes 30, so compared to me hes a kid. Secondly, he one of the most economical bowlers we have, alongside amir.
He needs to practise an actual spin delivery, to go with his stock delivery which is a darter. He was batting well, until he got exposed by bouncers, but he should have practised that in the nets.
I dont know if we will be having a game with the aussies due to the weather, but he will definetly do well against them, as well SA and NZ. I wouodnt play him against the asian teams though.

This kid thing, I was talking about it in cricketing sense.

Imad has been around for quite some time now and his problems/limitations are still same, we all have been saying since day one that he needs to spin the ball, but he hasn't worked anything on it and still continues to be darter without any variations in his bowling.

Nothing has changed in his batting as well, except that he now smacks the spinners really hard, other than that he hasn't done any improvement on his batting, he batted in similar style in 2016 English tour.

Some guys here say that he is gold as per Pakistani standards, this "Pakistani standards" thing is what has hurt the Pakistan cricket most, it is the reason why mediocre players like Malik have played at top level for 2 decades and guys like Shehzad and akmals, who have played and failed continuously for a decade are still being considered for the National team

I do worry about starc and Cummins.
Babar and imam should play watchfully, or we put haris in at 4 to solidify the line up.

Cant argue with you about his laziness in improving his bowling. He bowls with a scrambled seam! Thats never going to spin! He needs to develop a true spinning delivery.
His batting had improved but hes got found out by bouncers. I hope hes practiced in the nets against bouncers and not been lazy.
If theres someone better than him obviously, they should take his place.
But that can only happen after the wc now!

Pakistan Lose or match abondoned is same for PCT, and Pakistan will have to win 4 matches more. Only a win here can give PCT a cushion.

1 point here is good for nothing. Loss will have same effect.

I really hope this is not a washout and that there are at least some overs of play.

20190609_111023~01.jpg

The key for us will be dealing with the pace threat of Starc and Cummins. This is an area we must improve on ^

Looks like 1 more washout. Its getting frustrating. Why schedule the matches at such venues. Pakistan is getting hard done by the weather here. Imagine 3 washouts, players will lose all the momentum.

Pathetic!

It's not gonna be a washout. BBC weather showing very low chances of rain on match day.

I’d play Imad/Haris over Malik

Malik won’t do much against their pacers, rather keep Asif for that

its gonna be tough, aus have great batting line up, hope warner plays the same way as he did against aus.

Had this been Babar the media would have been after him.

Now that indvAus is done, cant wait to see warner get 70 ball 100😆,along with fifer from stark

If they give same wicket on Wednesday Aus have no chance, but if the wicket is like that of NZ v IND in warm up then Starc will get 7for.

Must-win game and perhaps it is better for us that Australia are coming off the back of a loss. It is all about pressure and we must not get soft. Need to hit them hard. Having said that, the batsmen would need to prepare for short balls and extreme pace.

Can't see Aus loosing two matches in a row, and if Aus trashes Pak, Pak will be demoralized team when they will be playing against India.

Well AUS are also under pressure and they have flopped vs INDIA and got lucky vs WI.

PAK need to come hard at them and then there is a chance they will crumble.

i disagree, its was the only last 10 overs of ind batting which was the difference, aus lost there cool

Individual performances may be able to win us the match against Aussies unlike India where we would need a complete team effort in all departments.

If Amir or Shadab/Hafeez combo can bowl a crucial spell then we can come hard at the Aussies. Or if Fakhar has a good day with the bat and gets a rapid ton.

play out starc and cummins in the first 10, then the rest of bowlers are mediocre.

its the mental barrier over aus, against eng we win, eng will beat aus.

Australia will come hard at Pakistan after showing a lackluster performance against India.

I will not be surprised if it turns out to be a one sided contest in Australia’s favor.

well if zampa bowls like he did today, malik and hafeez will be licking there lips.

Normally, I'd be happy to take a point against Oz and run. But we really need two points so hope we can get a game.

There is no point discussing about this match really
The rain starts at 10.am and finish 8.pm

Yeah, just checked and states light rain showers throughout the day. This might dent Pak's chances to go through.

The problem is the early rain.

It might not be that hard, but they won't be able to get onto the field.

Weather for PakvsAus game is better, well probably get a full game. Check out bbc and met forecast.

It isn't a good thing at all unless their confidence is dented they will go full force now might well be a long day for Pakistan a win is unlikely but pride should be retained no thrashing please.

Why isn't ICC smart enough to just cover the ground until the game happens? If they know it's going to be raining the next few days.

If the next match wash out, Pakistan will be in good position with 4 points in 4 matches and England, Australia and NZ done. Now Pakistan just has to beat BD and Afg, and get at least one match from SA/India/WI.

Overall, Pakistan would have probably taken 4 points from first 4 matches at the beginning of tournament.

It’s raining everyday in Taunton from Monday to Saturday. No point, Another wash out pending.

Thank you, Eng, Aus and WI are among the top 5 teams here and Pakistan splitting points equally with them is quite good. Also SL may no longer be a power but can win on its day.
