Australia vs Pakistan | 2nd Test | Adelaide | Nov 29 - Dec 3, 2019 | Day 1 | Match Thread

Shaheen has really developed nicely since the last tour. Control has improved. Such a shame there’s no one there to help him.

No doubt Shaheen is the best Pak bowler currently. And the fact that he's just 20(?) says a lot.

Looks like Australia will do better in this test than the first one. Both Warner and Marnus will get 150+ here.

Where's the Abbas gang at?

I mean they aren't even coming out in his support. All the claims of his line, length, movement, and his thunderbolts are nowhere to be seen.

Quite surprised that Abbas didn’t get much purchase here even under twilight condition and the ball is semi-old. Not getting movement is one thing, but guy is bowling on 6th wicket line, then drifting on pads!!!!!

Apart from Shaheen the bowling has been dross and i can see Aussies getting 400+ here and with our mediocre batting we will already be playing catch up cricket again.

400?
do you even see one ball beating the bat?
they will just bat once and declared somewhere around 600

Australia will have the highest Batting average in the night time of day night test after this game.

what has pak fans done to deserve this torture again ?
after much prayers & patience they got rid misbah.. & here we go again

It 6.45.

It’s the remaining 45 minutes til Dinner where normally it would be AFTER Dinner, and batting is hard if the pink ball is newer than this one.

Can commentators stop with the talk like the game is balanced and it is a trick period for batsman currently.

It's not and they know it. Australia is dominating

Do you see what I mean about 7-730 usually being the hardest time to bat?

It’s 6.45 now, and the ratio of natural to artificial light is already changing between every delivery. Hence two consecutive maiden overs.

This is where not having a decent third and fourth quick is a killer. If Amir and Faheem replaced Shaheen and Abbas, 95-1 could easily become 100-3.

Azhar should clear the cover field and bring 2 slips and 2 fielders on leg side near the batsman and a fine leg and silly mid on and mid on to mid wicket fielder. And tell Abbas to bowl on 4th stump let Labu... Score drive

Nxt time when a legend like waqar says a certain bowler is not playing because he is not in full rhythm (Abbas) please take his word for it.

Abbas has been all over the shop!!

Guys its all good give this team a year. We will finally see results.
Why?

Yasir, Azhar, Shafiq, Abbas and Imran will be even older and worse.

Naseem will still be a 5’10 guy who barely swings or seams it, and he will be 21 not 17.

Musa will still be a 5’7 no hoper and he will be 23 not 18.

Mickey Arthur’s guys will be closer to their peak.

But Misbah’s will be even older than they already are.

Isn’t this the time period where Australia are supposed to lose 9 wickets for 5 runs because of the fading light?

ya & we all know the Results .. 😂😂
the only graph that will improve under misbah is Misbah's Bank Balance

Misbah’s Bank Balance is why he was selected as a coach. Its to pay him back for serving Pakistan cricket all these years. See this team as charity for Misbah. Pay no heed to the results.

Oye bhai I said a year not 7 years.

Yes Because Imran was so much better

No, he's not that better. Just slightly better or as bad as Abbas.

BUT

PPers made it sound as if Abbas is the next coming of McGrath and would have wreaked havoc on Aus lineup.

The fact is, he would've received twice the thrashing that IK did. Because of his 120kph pace on a flat pitch. But PPers were not ready to believe this.

Nobody denied that during Twilight zone, it’ll be difficult to bat - at Eden, our tundlerR (that R is for registered trademark of BD cricket - unless I patent it, there are other phast bowling units will claim it...) were troubling Indian top order and had it not been Indian batting, many ache-achos (I'll explain you the term later when PAK bats here), would have gone to 4-5 down - so, it’s proven that batting will be tough.

But, the point is - is that tough enough for a “tactical declaration” with 4-5 wickets at hand and under per score? For a change, we know that on a gloomy English morning, batting is tough - have ever seen teams declaring at over night 233-5, to take that advantage and chance their luck to go at 2nd lunch with opponents at 72-6? Test cricket is tough, and you battle it out the tougher condition to cash in later - it has been always same. And, please don’t come up with “two maiden” theory - it’s that 7-7:45 period and Warner-Labus batting like they are watching Soccer ball in twilight.

Latest victim of PP hype machine, they just never learn.

Nailed it.

Junaids - they have brought Yasir in twilight zone - what could be the reason? Misbah’s tactics (or lack of it) of Pink ball cricket, or the pace bowling show in twilight has forced Azhar to go for unconventional?

Is it tough to bat? Yes

But is it tough enough for the batting side to cower and declare with an under-par score after 65 overs? A resounding no.

That tactic would backfire spectacularly more often than not, because you cannot bank on the bowlers to reduce the opposition to 50-5 every time.

That is why no captain is reckless enough to try it. Australia will look to bat for another 4 sessions and bat Pakistan out of the game and secure another innings victory.

Declare in 25 overs would be the last thing on Paine and Langer’s minds.

Australia is going to be 216/2 at the end of day's play.

Warner 107*
Smith 24*

Pakistan bowlers need to start being more patient and string and some dot balls and maidens together.

Also not being able to use new ball under lights tonight is a shame, due to rain earlier.

Laubaushane not letting yasir settle here which will mean more overs for the seamers.

So another innings defeat on the card. Most likely it will be big defeat. Pathetic bowling. Waqar should be kicked out after the test. This guy doesn't have any merit to coach so as Misbah. Our team bound to fell

Haven't Australia got the memo? You're supposed to declare now and bowl Pakistan out for 50. If you are not going to try this theory out against Pakistan then who?

Against a good bowling attack Warner and Labu wouldn't even survive the night session

Can someone tell me what are Australia's fixtures in the Test championship ? I know they will play New Zealand after this.
What after that ?

Yasir is cannon fodder in these conditions, yet hes been picked again.

Is Musa a ****** player as well? or just not International material

Supposed to tour BD in February, which is deferred to June-July period.

I'll say it again, Musa has absolutely no idea on how to bowl in tests especially in these conditions. He has to be one of the most bizarre picks in recent times and this is taking into account that we also selected Imran Khan for this series.

Naseem at least was picked on the back of performances in FC cricket.

They are playing 2 Tests in Bangladesh in the summer. Should be a cracking series.

Pakistan hemorrhaging runs. 19 off the last 2 overs.

I feel sorry for our young pacers here, no one to guide them interms of a good senior face bowler in side and a clueless captain.

Call it what you want.

But I believe this pitch will become a minefield when Australia bowl and will support swing, seam and spin and part time bowlers as well.

This guy Azhar Ali is a .... didn’t read the script. It’s that, that period and he has gone for spinners at both end!!!!!

He is Misbah's yes man so how you can expect from him?

India at home, South Africa away, Bangladesh away. Very difficult

Not really. Theys should comfortably beat the current hapless South African team anywhere. Bangladesh, i don't think is going to be a tough challenge without Shakib. And I also expect them to beat us at home this time around for obvious reasons.

India vs Australia final looks likely.

35 overs left in day, pakistan need wickets and badly.
