Draft #3 - Tests (post-1970 players)

Eventually i consumed whole 700/700 of the allotted tests.

There is a very good young player with 7 tests, only if I had two more tests..

Batting looks ordinary but you assembled a terrific bowling unit. Will demolish average teams like the one FC constructed.

He has a great bowling attack actually. Bhaijaan XI will be honoured to test their batting prowess against a skilled bowling line up like that. We encourage tough challenge. The sort of attitude yoy can have when you don't have Shane Watson as your test opener :23: :23: Dude seriously? :)))

Could have picked a specialist keeper, someone like Rizwan. With Lara, Ponting and Sachin, you wouldn't need his batting.

Haha there are too many volatile characters. Lillee, Kohli, Miandad and Aamer Sohail. Expecting a lot of phadday with the opposition

I know but I guess that's the kind of compromise you have to make under such conditions of this draft.

For #6, Pandya and Maxwell I had planned much earlier but then I decided to go with a specialist 5th bowler.

This left me with 2 options - Voges and Hodge

Ha voges. Could name 5 better batsman in Aus that have played less tests during their golden era

And you talk to me about no spinners. Chappell would be better than Kuldeep and Narine. Maybe not as good as Labu though who is your best test spinner

My last pick is the guy who has been given the role of AB de Villiers in the current South African Setup, <B>Van der dussen</B>.

A very good player who unfortunately due to quota system took a while to find a place in team but is quickly becoming an integral part of SA team.

Alas for you to get to MacGill, you have to get through Lillee, Imran, Vernon, and Jeff Thomson. Can't see it happening. Before you even realize it, your team would be 50/5 courtesy dodgy openers and your prime middle order being exposed to new ball. Sorry brother. You wil be decimated.

Without a doubt one of the Top 10 test openers , Top 50 test batsmen and arguably a Top 100 cricketer

Greenidge is a great of the game and an icon.

I am loving the balance in this team.

For sure Fawad is the black goat in that group but you have nailed the bowling. 5 specialist bowlers, 2-3 spinners also, this team will do go good everywhere

am taking the **** with that a bit. They are better, but I feel that it is better to have a very good pacer than a very average spinner, stuff balance

Ok. As the final pick of the draft i present to you a batsman from the folklores of carribean cricket. An unfortunate tumor in the eye made his career go downhill. But before that his batting was of such a standard that the legendery Sobers tipped him to be the greatest west indian batsman of all time. Michael holding believes he is the greatest batsman he has ever seen and Desmond Haynes named him as his boyhood hero. I pick the only man to score a double and a century in the same test : Lawrence Rowe.

Johnson was overall a better test bowler than temperamental Shoaib. This is coming from a Pakistani. He won Australia series in South Africa.

However, even if you give that to Shoaib, still makes it 6-5 :sarf2

Well Kuldeep cannot be compared to Kusal. All his players that are better are way, way better so that simplistic comparison is bogus

Johnson was the GOAT for 2 series as I stated. He was the definiton of temperamental. Shoaib was way, way better over his career. This is coming from an aussie

Shaoib for all his bursts on and off the field, hasn't achieved a lot. Remains as one of the what-if stories of Pakistani cricket.

Border. legend of the highest degree who leads from the front. Probs home-town bias as Smith is one of the greatest captains

Well Johnson's 2 years of greatness overshadows the entire career of Shoaib. Unfortunately the latter had more talent and sheer ability to perform that way across many years but he couldn't. That is the bottom line.

As a bowler shoaib was slightly better and less condition dependent. If the match is played is subcontinent Shoaib will be much better.

Given that nothing fishy is going on Akram. Gavaskar was very defensive as a captain.

You can replace statistics but you cannot replace daleri, jigra, jazba, junoon, sher dili, zinda dili, badmashi, janbaaaziii

Johnson bowled with all those attributes and effectively ended the careers of really good players like Trott and Swann :sarf2

Gavaskar should be captain for sure.

Also the greatest test cricketer in that XI so makes sense.

Who calls Gavaskar defensive, he opened India's pace attack in test cricket and played like 5 of Top 10 greatest test knocks by Indian batsmen ever, a few of them while chasing.
