I think, one fundamental mistake that PAK spinners do is, they don't try to turn the ball. This has been due to playing on sluggish UAE & domestic wickets where darters are the king. I was following the scorecard of recent T20 cups, and most teams actually were opening with darters, and they were quite successful as well.

Today, Nawaz is probably bowling it a bit slow & giving a bit air as well. This is the worst era of spin play that I have seen - any spinner that gives a bit air actually is quite successful these days (economy/average is misleading, because of uses of steroid it cricket - that's artificially raising the score by 150+/match). Problem is, unless there is a bowling Captain or an aggressive Captain, who is ready to buy wicket, Yasir won't be successful in ODI (may be in typical UAE dross, where 245/9 is a match winning total).
