Pakistan trail by 40 runs with 7 wickets remaining in the 1st innings
 
By my reckoning:

1) If Pakistan collapse to be all out at lunch, they lead by 40.

2) If Pakistan is dismissed by Session 2 drinks, they lead by 90.

3) If Pakistan is dismissed by Tea, they lead by 130.

I would happily take all of those - as an Englishman.

You have to bat last, so any deficit under 150 seems okay to me. I think we will beat you if we can set a target of 200 or more.

Ideally PAk wont like to chase more than 200. England dont have any spinner so that does make 100+ lead very very handy. Less than 100 would be Game even.
 
Looks like the English got ahead of themselves after the second Test, this is why they're nowhere near Aus.

They lack the killer instinct that nearly every Aus team has had.

Pakistan are a good chance of becoming the unofficial/official #1 team in the world if they wrap this series up.
 
Looks like the first session is going to be sunny and then will be cloudy in 2nd one. If we survive two session we will build a lead of 120.
 
Gotta aim for 150 or more. Misbah and Shafiq have looked good all series. Younis jeeds to step up
 
I fear for the worst but hope for the best that we get a 100+ lead.
 
no need to fly high just yet. Lets take it one small step at a time. First lets get rid of the 40 runs without losing a wicket. Then get to lunch without losing a wicket. Then we start building a lead. We have plenty of time and PP'ers should be patient. Let Misbah and Younis tuk tuk and get us into a strong position.

also we need to appreciate england will come out fighting so expect some nervy moments..
 
50 each from misbah , asad and Younis, 25 -30 from sarfraz and 25-30 from tail. We will have a lead if 130-140.
 
First and foremost we need to be cautious and hope that no wicket is lost early. If Azhar still was there we had a better chance of blunting newer ball but Alas!!

come on boys win this session and we are in a very healthy position.
 
Play with caution for the first hour, ball is still new-ish.

Forecast is good today and there's no perils in the pitch so we should aim for 400 and beyond.
 
I would love us to get a massive lead and for one of our veterans to hit a big gritty hundred..preferably younis as this would hopefully stop his weird jumping thing..then the other players can have a real dash..imagine if we allow sarfaraz yasir and shafiq the chance to swing the bat a bit..it could be fun..not forgetting misbah..

The new ball is only 10 overs old. So if the weather stays good today, I'm guessing

Session 1 Drinks: 290-6
Lunch: 330-8
Session 2: Pakistan 360 all out (lead of roughly 60)
Tea: England 40-0
Session 3 Drinks: England 90-1
Close: England 150-3 (lead by 90)

Is that precise enough? :)
 
Don't have a good feeling about today. One can sense an English fight back.
 
Lol on PTV ,in dr naumans show everyone else talks in Urdu and Symonds speaks in English. Such pretensive boring thing.
 
England know that if they lose day 3, they lose the match and don't win the series.

So one can expect them to come out all guns blazing, because they have to seize this moment.
 
so 80 years young batting pair will start the bating from Pakistan .

England took the new ball at 80 overs right? So the ball is 10 overs old
 
Should play cautiously in the first session & then look to accelerate.

I hope so too. It would set the game up beautifully.

I'd ideally like to see you dismissed on the stroke of Tea for 450. That would make the game really intriguing.

Do you think anyone takes your predictions seriously?
 
PAK needs to go to 1st drinks 3 down, even for run an over, after that with 105 overs tiered attack should struggle for breather. Also, it's a 12 overs old ball now.
 
If you stand outside the crease cant that turn normal swing into really late swing?
 
Pakistan need to play straight here, no flashy strokes and also try and pick up some runs, we cant let england bowlers settle in here, if we arent going to score runs as soon as couple of wickets fall the game has not moved on!

But if they know that the series is on the line imagine the pressure on them. We can capitalize on that
 
Not a fan of the open faced shots, YK always in better touch when playing through the "v"

You have to tell your assessment of the wicket now - otherwise Pitch character would change with their score.
 
Morning People. I am so nervous for some reason. This is so 90s for me when as a teenager I couldn't sleep before a big game.

I think Cook was poor yesterday as an infield captain. The tactical stuff was fine, but he should have given a rocket to both his opening bowlers. Broad for trundling and Anderson for wrecking his team's prospects.

The difference between this team and the 90's is these guys are mentally stronger. They won't give it away while they are ahead in the game.

I think it's slow and low like a day 1 or day 2 pitch in Dubai. But I don't think it will deteriorate very much at all - it will just get very slightly slower on days 4 and 5.

Pakistan have been so lucky with the pitches and weather conditions compared with the Sri Lankan visitors 8 weeks ago!

Misbah needs to be a little bit more positive here, england are bowling the odd good ball which could bring a wicket, also YK is still not looking great in the middle
