What's new

England vs Pakistan | 2nd Test | Headingley, Leeds | June 1-5, 2018 | Day 2 | Match Thread

We needed that, lets see how costly that will end up being. Butler scores his runs quick and he's in the mood to unleash havoc.

Hasan Ali didn't seem to get the memo about our improved fielding and catching.

Slightly weary of every Tasleem, Danish, and Haroon going on about AMIR NEEDS TO PITCH IT FULL.

Who knows more about fast bowling? The guy who Wasim Akram said knew more about bowling than he did at 18 or Tariq, Daulat and Hafeez? He may not have accomplished what many hoped, but I think he understands fast bowling better, as do Azhar Mahmood/Mickey who say same thing ad nauseam.

And the wasim & coach staff has suggested Amir to bowl close to stumps and pitch the ball up.

We've got 2 more wickets before the new ball is available!!!
Yes, we are back in the game.

Need to keep it tight till the new ball. Can see us picking up wickets with the new ball.

Man, these medium pacers have been dealt with batting outside the crease in the past, if you were to watch Razzaq & Mcgrath failing in later part of their career. Modern cricket has advanced so more. We need a 90+mph bowler, as that will put these batsman back in the crease, as they try to play late

How much worse would Morgan do than Malan in middle order in Tests? Personally feel he has higher ceiling and almost same career time frame (3-4 yrs) left.

Ball is doing a bit. May be we shouldnt get a new ball, and try bowling tight line, stump to stump for wickets?

I concur, and he would be a more combative skipper than Root.

Shocking to put Razzaq and McGrath in the same sentence.

And McGrath was the highest wicket taker in his last ODI series, the 2007 WC. And he took 20 odd wickets in his final Test series [Ashes]. And he was still economical.

Pakistan and drop catches can’t stay away from each other for long...

I know both of them are class apart. But pace wise, they are very similar. You could see batsman coming out of crease and throwing kitchen sink at them in later part of the careers (when cricket got bit fast). And that took swing out of the equation. And bowler tend to go for plenty due to that tactic.

Butler is striking ball beautifully. Wont be surprised if he goes on and make a century here.

After dismissing the two set batsmen straight after tea, the drop catch by Butler just took the wind out the sails for us.

Let’s see if Abbas & Amir can produce any magic with the new ball
