What's new

Liverpool FC 2025/26 Season

I’d change your crystal ball now . It’s all when /if . VVD has 2 pl and 1 cl . 2nd in ballondor, regarded as pl legend. . Saliba has a lot to achieve , he’s won nothing so far and will likely leave Arsenal if Arteta fails again. Don’t watch 2 min highlights, numerous times Saliba was taken apart by opposition attackers last season . Even most Arsenal see him as 2nd best to the Brazilian you have .
I don’t need to watch 2 min highlights as I watched almost all the PL matches. He was not at his best last season but he is still a world class CB with a higher ceiling than VVD.

I know it is very difficult for rival fans to accept that Arsenal have signed the deadliest striker in Europe, especially those fans whose club begged him to join but they got rejected 7 times in the same window.

The argument that Gyokeres has only looked good due to Portuguese league defenders would have had some weight if he hadn't scored in the UCL including a hat-trick vs City and wasn't the top scorer in the Nations League. He dominates every competition and therefore the argument that he is decent and best and made to look amazing due to Portuguese league is absolutely rubbish.

Isak is not superior at all. In fact, Isak is not even in the same class. Gyokeres will blow him out of the water in the PL just like he has blown him out of the water for Sweden.

However, as I said, this is exactly what I want. I want rival fans to underestimate him, because it means that the humbling will be way more satisfying.

No one's underestimated him. When you spout your usual he's better than isak he's on a par with Mbappe, Haaland, kane, is when YOU cant be taken seriously.

What are your thoughts on the combination of Gyokeres and Noni Madueke? What do you predict?

No doubting Gyokeres potential. He could well be the missing link Gooners where craving for to lead them to the title.

As for Madueke i definitely see Potential there. His one on one skill set is quality which is key to unblock low blocks.
However, like all young players, he can be inconsistent. But I do rate him.

Been waiting a longtime for the title, FA cup is not enough.

There is nothing in Isak’s game that makes him superior to Gyokeres. Gyokeres has overshadowed him in every comp they have played together including the Sweden national team, and same will be the case in the PL.

Mbappe is the only one who is clearly better than him. He is equally prolific as Kane and is at the same level in terms of overall play. He is also equally prolific as Haaland but much better in terms of overall play.

My rankings for the best strikers in the world as of today is the following:

1. Mbappe
2. Gyokeres/Kane
3. Haaland
4. Lewandowski

Lewandowski would be top 2 but he is very old now and past his prime, although he is still fantastic.

Not sure who is inviting Isak to the table. He is not in this league. He doesn’t have the caliber to score 40+ goals like these guys and he is also built like a twig due to which he is very injury prone.

Isak is a level below this class and is alongside strikers like Lautaro Martinez, Alvarez, Marmoush.

Saliba could hardly run at times , he was poor last season and must improve as Arsenal need a trophy or he could be known as empty handed like his manager . I think he should go to Real .

Saliba wants to stay and win things with Arsenal. That is why he is signing a new contract. He knows that if he leaves Arsenal before he wins the league, he will not be remembered by the fans.

You should be more worried about Konate, who seems to be keen in joining Trent and moving to Real. Looks like Liverpool has become the feeder club for Real.

Saliba wants to win , he won’t continue if you don’t win PL or CL this season. Trent and Konate won everything, their aim is money which is next after winning. Arsenals greatest ever player Henry had to leave Arsenal for Barcelona to win the CL . Liverpool don’t have this issue with its stars.

If this is the lie that Liverpool fans are telling themselves to make themselves feel better about Trent and potentially Konate as well, it is not a good one.

If Trent wanted to go for money, he would have gone to Saudi or MLS. Trent is going because playing for Liverpool is not the same as playing for Madrid.

When Madrid knocks on your door and you don’t open, you will regret it one day. Trent has also seen the impact playing for Real has had on his boyfriend Bellingham, and he wants to experience it too. It has nothing to do with money.

This applies to Konate as well, who wants to be remembered as a Real Madrid player not a Liverpool player.

Sooner or later, Saliba will go too. Arsenal fans have accepted this. If Real want an Arsenal or Liverpool player, they will eventually have him.

I am hopeful that they will handle it much better and will not fumble the situation like Liverpool did with Trent, ultimately losing him out for only £10m which was a kick in the teeth.

Saliba contract expires in 2027 and Madrid want to do another Trent and sign him for free.

Arsenal must not let that situation happen. He either needs to sign a contract extension or he should be listed for transfer next summer.

Real Madrid recently tried to sign MLS but he ended up extending his contract. Thierry Henry turned down Madrid when he was at the peak of his powers.

I hope Saliba will extend his contract but yes I agree if he doesn't, sell him next summer and let's hope Mosquera is ready to step up.

Liverpool remember Jota before first Anfield game

Liverpool paid tribute to Diogo Jota in their first match at Anfield since the late forward's death.

The 28-year-old Portugal international died in a car crash in Spain along with his brother Andre Silva, 25, in July.

The Reds played Athletic Bilbao in a double header of pre-season friendlies on Monday, with games at 17:00 and 20:00 BST.

Liverpool legend Phil Thomson and Athletic president Jon Uriarte brought wreaths out on to the pitch and laid them on the edge of the six-yard box before the opening game.

The billboards around Anfield read 'Rest in Peace Diogo Jota and Andre Silva - You'll Never Walk Alone', while fans sang about Jota.

Reds supporters also held up flags and banners remembering their number 20 - a number that has been retired by the club this summer.

Both sets of players, coaches and fans applauded as both games were stopped in the 20th minute.

Jota scored 65 goals in 182 appearances for the Reds, helping them win the Premier League, FA Cup and League Cup, following his arrival from Wolves in 2020.

Result was not important but the link up play of Salah and Wirtz already looks incredible. Liverpool seem like we will be break last seasons goals.

LFC have improved from a title winning team. Its really for teams who bottle it or come up short to worry about improving the squad in ever area of the pitch. Liverpool is the most attractive team for players in the PL right now. Players will leave but better ones will arrive.

That remains to be seen because IMO you have made too many changes too quickly and if it doesn’t work out, Slot will be blamed for flogging a running horse and getting too excited with all the new money John Bin Henry found under his bed.

Not at all, we spent nothing 12 months ago. We replaced both full backs and replaced a striker, adding Wirtz who is a future potential great. LFC actually need to spend more yet, another CB and another winger would be nice.

Liverpool are aiming for history this season, its not going to be easy but 21 League Titles it what matters to this club.
