Partnerships are the key here for Pakistan as Aussies have taken some momentum into lunch with the wicket of Azhar Ali just before lunch. Umar Amin will have to be gutsy and stick in there along with Butt who is the main stay of our side for now!

Conditions dont look like improving, i guess we wouldnt mind if umar akmal and Afridi plus kamran come out and play their natural aggressive game, otherwise its all about a 'come and get me' type conditions.

as it always is for Pakistan, it's Butt or bust...let's hope he stays at the crease!

butts the key, but we might get some t20 action if these two get out.. :akmal :umarakmal :afridi

Salman Butt is one batsem who the aussies really would want to see back in the pavilion

ws momo....
nervii moments so far...

hope butta can provide stability

Pakistan needs 5 more runs to avoid the follow-on....Can they do it ?............... :D
Seriously though they need to get close to the aussie total if not a 100 run lead

Butt has to play the anchor role now.. He's looking good..hopefully, he'll carry on and not throw it away!

I am not sure...every one will have to chip one for that too happen :( :D

Why's everyone nervous? It'd be a cause for concern if Butt was out and Farhat was still there, but we've done better than expected, at least in my books.

Spot on comments. We need two or 3 batsmen to get in and score big and needs some partnerships. (80, 90, 100 etc...)

Otherwise i can see Pakistan being on a par with Aussies and turning the game pretty much into a 1 Inns game which is bad for Pakistan!

Salam bhaiyo. Good match, what?

Wasalaam pancham.

So far its all Salman Butt. He isn't letting them 'Butt' into his business so far :butt

See post no.24...anyways that has got nothing to do with this match....

Pakistan need to get a lead here.

I'm scared if we don't the sun will come out and Aus will rack up 400-3 or something.

I am glad Butt has been firm and upright, instead of being cheeky. :butt

Why both the debutants are at no.3 and no.4 ? I think Umar akmal should have moved one step higher. With two new guys at no3 and no4 its too much pressure on those guys as well as on the team if they get out early.

Unless you are kinda sure that atleast one of them to score a century on their first innings.

how much time left til play starts boys???

havnt done any work today.....cricket always comes first.. :D

Overhead conditions crucial here,a bit of sun will favour the batsmen. We must get to the 100 mark with Butt and Amin intact.

Someone said they wanted a quickfire century from Umar Akmal.

Have some ****ing patience lol, why does everything have to be quickfire. Why not bat at 3 an over the whole day and make 300 odd runs?

I don't care if we score only 50 runs in the next session. The key is NOT to lose any wickets. Tire out the bowlers, we are in no hurry.

A couple of biggish centuries inshaAllah and it will become better. :)
Lol....dream on. As I have said a few time......253 is a very creditable score in these conditions. We will be dismissed for around 150 I'm afraid. Does anyone really truly beleive we can get runs in these conditions? We are just a very poor batting side. Aussies to get a 100 run lead minimum.

Because number 3 and 4 are who they are replacing.

:yk :moyo

ahhhh, they would take long time to replace those two. Actually these two are my favorite pak test batsmen from recent times.

Thanks for analysis :inti

Ian Gould checking the light meter after every ball now.

Or all sloppy and loose outside off-stump.

u really dont seem to get it ? Why dont you just ignore the match if you're that anti-spirited ?

cricinfo

Well this is daft. It's gloomy, but not unplayable, as Butt has just demonstrated. But off they go. Rubbish

Sometimes this stupidity and lack of common sense really annoys me

The umpires should've checked the light before lunch was over - that one over was idiotic, to say the least

It's just going to drive people away from test matches

what the hell is this BS!

Football and cricket - two sports with sad idiots for administrators.

FIFA can't seem to get their heads wrapped around technology and are persistent about preserving the game. Yes, preserving diving and howlers like England got in the WC are preserve worthy?

ICC can't seem to get anything right. Rules are atrocious and limited. This bad light nonsense is just silly. Players should be playing in any condition that does not involve precipitation of any sort. Bad light should not be hindering play.

Don't agree with you KU, try facing a red ball coming at you at over 90 mph in dark light like there is at Lord's at the moment. Impossible really.

well its raining so umpires decision is fully vindicated...

Common sense should play a role too. Butt hit a cracking drive off a fast bowler the ball before they went off...

They are already behind in overs that are needed to be bowled, these umpires are being ridiculous. I'm not impressed whatsoever
