So here we are, Day 4.

Situation on paper looks bad for Pak in their 2nd innings, 1 run in defecit and 2 top order wickets down. Not many people in the cricketing world would put their money on a Pak revival.

But this is PakPassion !

We are here to support team Pak through thick and/or thin - and I tell you that we will come out of this day with our heads held high ( or head in our hands :( )

Farhat and YK look settled - a few streaky shots here and there but some times, luck favours the brave and this is a brave Pak team!

Play will begin in an hour or 2 but the hope begins NOW !!

Inshallah, Jeet humaree Hogee !!!

Salam MIG,
I don't think even on paper we are in such a bad position because remember SA are going to bat last and on this pitch not many teams have been able to score 200+ in the 4th.

Another thing is that the momentum is with PAK because yesterday SA were in such a strong position at 356/4 but after that it's been all PAK. So now surely SA will be thinking about that while the Pakistanis are going to play with even more enthusiasm.

So my current ratings out of 100 are
SA: 53-
PAK:47+

- means that they are heading in the wrong direction while PAK are moving in the right direction.

I agree - its just that they need to get those 250+ on the board as a lead! That is a tough tough task for Pak. I believe that the key is crease occupation - if we are still batting in the last session today, we will be in for a great chance of victory - anything less and we are staring down the barrel.

Pakistan always does well with their backs to the wall. Just look at the past two years. Also Pak is one of the most fierce teams when defending a total on day 5. We might not have Shoaib but if pak can put some runs on the board, anything is possible.

This is still anyone's game. It depends on an extent on how much the pitch deteriorates. If it doesn't deterioriate, it might be a draw as neither team's bowling attack is consistently threatening. But if Pak can make better use of the surface, they'll be in with a shout, particularly with Kaneria to bowl last.

I also think, this game belongs to whoever wants to win it the most. Pakistan will need to want to win this match. Each run, each delivery will need to be scored or bowled as if their lives depended on it...meek surrender is not an option!

thats a pretty good estimate of SA and Pak's chances respectively. Hopefully we can do our part and put up a target of atleast 170-200.

Mooz i don't think a lead of 170-200 will be enough i reckon we need 220+ to have a fair chance.

Is play not starting early today, to make up for the lost time yesterday?

Not very hopeful for a Pak win :^(

Here's my take on the situation. I agree with an earlier poster, that the momentum is with Pakistan. But for them to win, they would have to bat well, score at a good pace, and declare a little after tea on the 4th day. Remember that we're losing some overs every day due to bad light.

Inzi, by nature, is a defensive captain. I don't see how he could declare without a lead of almost 300, even if all experts agree that even 250 would be a safe target. And for Pakistan to score another 300 in about 75 overs, at 4 rpo, is certainly not on the cards.

So, much to my own chagrin, my vote for a probable result goes to a draw. Pakistan would not leave SAf with enough time to make the runs, or allow their own bowlers to get them out.

If Pakistan collapses, then SAf certainly has a good chance. Yes, the pitch would be acting up on the final day, but: (a) SAf has home advantage; (b) SAf has momentum of the recent rebound in the recent Indian series; and (c) Pak is short on quality bowlers.

Pakistan can win ONLY if they are all-out before reaching their target score, and then SAf goes for the kill, and lose their way.

Let's wait and see. Interesting cricket ahead of us.

Hope Pakistan bats until after tea and puts SA in maybe for the last 8-10 overs of the day.

Fortune favours the brave but for how long ? Farhat dropped by Kallis - very close.

The first 2 sessions will dictate the match. Early wickets and the shutters will be up for Pakistan - play for a draw. If we keep wickets in tact and go for quick runs later in the innings, then the earliest I see a declaration from Inzi is early tomorrow morning.

Test cricket at its best... wat a set up ... this day 4 will be very fascinating. InshaAllah, we will take atleast 300 runs lead

Anyone know if there's a radio link for this match? I'm desperate for SOME sort of live action!

Listen to what the South African shmuck commentator is doing to defend Kallis' drop. Just listen.

so far inzi's judgement on declaring in the 3rd innings has been spot on.

so whenever he declares, that should be a pretty good time.

But us batting well is where most of us will think twice (or more) to put our money!

Can you tell us what he said..for those who aren't watching/listening to it?

guys please do some describing of the action (for those of us unfortunate to be at work at this moment).

I wish I could have comprehended it! Basically, he was making up new cricketing terms to explain his stance.

Farhat trying really hard to contain his normal aggression. Playing against his "natural" style.

Yeah. It's not too bad actually; I'm impressed by how he is trying to curb his brain explosions.

While Ramiz speaks of how tight has Farhat's technique has been in this innings, we repetedly see occasional fisherman antics from him.

But he is struggling to contain his natural fishing quite a bit.

haha

infact, i would be willing to bet that he himself won't be able to repeat it.... itna confusing tha... he got lost in his own thoughts and just kept going.. Poor Ramiz ..

hahahahahahaha

B Ntini Dropped: Boucher

Farhat survives again.

then again he isn't known for cashing in on his lives.

This is Farhat's day; that's all I'll say folks. Overrated Boucher drops a catch off Farhat.

Farhat is a mastermind.. he brings down the moral of opposing teams... very unlucky saffies.

Well well well..will Farhat make the saffies pay or will he eventually get out sooner rather than later?

so you are telling me he planned his dropped catches?

I rather have him in the WAPDA, so they can predict thier stupidity! :13:

Concentration for Farhat needs to improve if he is ever going to be a top class player. Needs to be mentally tougher.

Dave Richardson think Aus and SA are the only two countries to produce top class WK batsmen....dont know what has he been smoking?
he think Sanga is just a good batsmen who does a decent job behind stumps..think very high of himself and of coures MB....

thought YK has always been good at pull ...i have seen him play that shot manytime..i dont think he will stop palying that shot coz he got out to it in the previous inning

He was an ordinary batsman, and Boucher is way overrated (Everyone remembers his World Cup drops in 1999 and 2003). Sanga owns his rear end.

don't dare use farhat and planning in the same sentence or i'll call 911

Sangakarras wicketkeeping is very underrated. I mean the guy keeps to Murali, and that aint exactly easy.

What the hell now we are left with just 2 more specialist batsmen and have a lead of only 11 runs!!
ya, thats scary... One big partnership needed

Had an ugly feeling. The batsmen are going into their shell and when that happens and a wicket falls an hour later you find yourself still needing runs. Hopefully Inzi will play his natural game.
