Revenge for 2023 World Cup humiliation
2023 was mainly because England suffered from Seniority bias.

They were relying on past hype of strokes, Root and bairstow and it failed for obvious reasons.

Regardless it'll be am even game( I hope), Sides are evenly matched although England got the better openers.

I feel England will win, they are getting into top form at the right time everything is clicking. Choke Afrika still have issues at the top and would most likely choke. :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

Eng for me ! With Chris Jordan dropped and joffra in their bowling is much stronger. Jordan is a useless bowler- not sure how he is picked regularly by eng and how he gets t20 franchise league gigs. And mark wood needs to use his brain a bit more instead of blindly bowling fast. SA will be in choke mode today. Especially deCock- the guy completely chokes in any pressure game. Expecting single digit score from him. As usual it will be left to klaasen and miller to do the heavy lifting. Adil Rashid will be a handful in a day game

This is where Pakistan missed the boat - even though they aren't the best team on paper, once in Super 8, they could have played the odds to move forward - but, alas!

Pure speculation :ROFLMAO:Pakistan do not deserve to make the super 8s. They played like cowards showing absolutely no fight and leadership :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: Based on how they played they would not have been any threat to England, South Africa or West indies(y)

Pitch report | Natalie Germanos and Michael Atherton: It's a fresh pitch. 69 meter and 66 meter square boundaries. 76 meters down the ground. Not much different to the pitch we saw the other night. England have the advantage of having played here. Don't think it really matters (bat first or bowl first). Expecting a good surface.

Toss Update:

England win the toss and opt to field

Teams:

South Africa
(Playing XI): Quinton de Kock(w), Reeza Hendricks, Aiden Markram(c), David Miller, Heinrich Klaasen, Tristan Stubbs, Marco Jansen, Keshav Maharaj, Kagiso Rabada, Anrich Nortje, Ottneil Baartman

England (Playing XI): Philip Salt, Jos Buttler(w/c), Harry Brook, Jonny Bairstow, Moeen Ali, Liam Livingstone, Sam Curran, Jofra Archer, Adil Rashid, Mark Wood, Reece Topley

Good toss to lose for SA. This is their best bet to defeat England unless there is overwhelming difference in conditions.

QDQ v Archer

One of the best battles of modern cricket

They would have gotten cremated by every team minus USA and Bangladesh where it could go either way.

Markram: We'll look to squeeze England in run chase
South Africa's captain Aiden Markram:

"We would have also bowled first on the basis of it being an early start and the moisture, but that being said, we're happy to put a good start and squeeze them after.

"The top order did well in the previous game and it's a reminder of how we score runs in this part of the world.

"Hopefully as a full team we can put a good performance on.

"We have one change with Ottneil Baartman coming back in for Tabraiz Shamsi."

England's captain Jos Buttler: We fancy a chase

"We're going to have a bowl first, it looks a fresh wicket and we fancy a chase.

"Maybe a little bit of moisture and the ball will swing, going with the same formula we had against the West Indies.

"We're going with the same team. We put on a well performance and that's done now. We're up against a tough opposition in South Africa.

"We want to look after Jofra Archer as much as possible, look after him, he wants to play and it's hard to stop him when he's like that.

"South Africa are an unbeaten side with top players with the bat and ball."

Tough, tough ask for Saffers. They need to push upwards of 200 and ideally 210 + in order to successfully defend at this venue, assuming it's a flat deck.

Even back in 2010, Australia chased 197 against PAK when Hussey assaulted 45 degree Ajmal.

Nightmare to defend against this English lineup. Probably missed a trick by going pace heavy too.

Real challenge will be estimating what the good total is. If they aim too much h and implode England will be all over them. It is real tricky. In such situations they have to see atleast Andover or two unless it is ra rank bad ball.

Lol people were underestimating england a lot but now they have realised they are the team to beat.
England should annihilate whichever team comes in their path.

Literally nobody was. They were second favourites after Australia.

They were being foolish by not selecting Toppley in the first 2 matches.

Who was underrating them?

Only Australia has their no? Their 2nd favourites after Australia. They only lost to the strongest team of the tournament. Every other game has been a breeze so far.

Archdil combo has dramatically improved their potency. Nobody knew if Archer has the rhythm or not. So it was an unknown factor. After seeing him in a couple of matches one can see the dramatic change in odds for England.

No. People were saying they are over aged and they are done at this level and more. LOL

But now they have started seeing the truth. They will come hard on these pitches and destroy them all.

After that Australia match people wrote england off and some were celebrating that they won't even make to the super 8s. LOL hahah

Not a flat deck. But a batting wicket. The pitches in India were more batting friendly

Fun fact - Pat Cummins becomes the 2nd Australian to pick a hat-trick in the T20 World Cup history.

And both the hat-tricks came against Bangladesh!

India won the World Cup when the first one was taken by Brett Lee in 2007. Can we dream for another one ? :misbah

1-2 posters, Indian fans usually rate English T20 team as we see them play as well in IPL etc.

With Rohit and Kohli in team i just dream of semi finals.
Choti choti Khushiyaan

They weren't celebrating because they didn't think England wasn't good enough.

It's because England was dine dirty by rain giving Scotland a freebie point(Granted they were batting well)

The issue was their qualification was dependant on the mercy of Australia and Australia decided to challenge themselves against Scotland by giving themselves a handicap and just tough situations to chase.

Australia didn't care about winning against Scotland, only challenging the themselves so understandably the game against Scotland gave England a heart attack since it seemed Scotland would win at one point.

Lastly Nambia vs England was a shortened game so people were scared it would be rained off.

It was rain that was the issue. No one thought England wasn't good enough lol.

Yes, but first dream about rohit and kohli not opening in a semi final or final

England is a well structure T20 unit. Their weakness has always been pace bowling. With Archer coming in and Topley using the conditions England is in much better shape. Only downside is it is a heavy right handed side. But with reverse sweep specialists that is not a huge concern.

Archer is a thorn atm, not a helper. Their really missing David Willey this cup. And tbh Alex Hales as well, Will jacks has been a disappointment so far.

So are the British Asians now supporting England especially with brothers Mo and Adil in the team?

Indian fans don't want india to face england in Semifinals.

We prefer South Africa or westindies.

Seems like De Kock finally decided to show up in an ICC event, too bad it’s his last. Well as the saying goes, “better to be late than never.”

Quinny defying expectations here and motoring along. SA mosswd a trick though in not picking shamsi..

Against WI Archer was good. Without Jordan England doesn't have death bowlers. Archer is the only one. If he delivers he will have done his job

6: 63-0 End of powerplay.

England need QDK quickly. and they should ensure Reese plays all 20 overs lol

Decent PP for the Saffers. They have to successful attack Adil and deposit him to the short boundary. Easier said than done though.

They did against Netherlands but Miller helped them. And they have batted first in last two matches, so the night is still young.
That's not choking. Nedtherlands was bowling well and Miller didn't give in, and the NY pitch was hell, it's being dismantled now.

NY is the only pitch that was an equalizer for minnow teams against top sides.

If Nedtherlands played against SA on this current pitch and SA was batting first Nedtherlands would get smashed.

2023 and 2022 wc against Nedtherlands were chokes though.

Hendricks needs to kick on. So far it's basically just quinton vs England lol.

Adil Rashid used to be a bowler that would give away so many freebies but look at him now, he has become such a great bowler. Shadab should study him.

De kock has a defacto nervous energy face, I always feel he will get our in the next ball.

Bowling mostly. SA bowling > England bowling but England batting > SA batting.

However assuming quinton keeps kicking in then game over

South African bowling is kind of overrated in T20.

Even USA scored close to 180 against them. If USA can do that, England can score more.
