What's new

West Indies v Pakistan | 1st Test | Sabina Park, Kingston | Apr 21-25, 2017 | Day 4

Abbas's FC average is 7.60, which indicates this is PAK's last pair.

you were right this man misbah is so weak against pace that he ducks and make the taliender to face the next over.utterlevel of mediocrity and selfishness..

He is playing to remain not out & boast his average - will expose Abbas as well happily, that increases his chance to remain not out, which eventually will justify his decision to stick around - that's spreadsheet cricket.

Given the option I will always take 54 runs in 70 balls versus 22 in 67. There is no point in blocking if you are going to get out after getting a start.

I don't think there was any plan to play aggressively. This is how Sarfaraz plays. Misbah was/is his usual self batting with a S/R of under 40.

Right, and the two of them playing normally were going along at 3.6 RPO which was setting us up perfectly for that 200+ run lead.

Wrist-slitters spent the last 20 hours panicking over nothing as per usual.

Surely Misbah should attack the spinners now

he is not aggressive by default, shouldnt expect more from him... He can nicely watch his bowlers go one by one and done this many times before...expecting him to go as ninth wicket down by history

Abbas is going to have some fun with all of these cracks starting to open up. That one moved away quite a bit

do u believe that micky understands his tactics...he is utterly rubbish now and i do believe that many pakistani stopped watching cricket when he was regular in our odi line up....specifically the imran fans of 80 era like my dad..

Ok seriously what on earth is Misbah doing?

Exposing the tail Enders, taking singles early in the over, defending as if he's playing for the draw.

Surely he has to attack now and try score some quick runs rather than being left stranded on 60*

Just as I say that Misbah goes for an aggressive shot down the ground but isn't really nowhere near it

And now Misbah keeps the strike and turns down the single!

The penny has dropped

What is the strategy behind this kind of batting? Do they want to win or just draw this match?

the expressions at the faces of Mickey Arthur and Grant says everything..

2 more Tests, so Mickey is just silent.

This is the kind of situation where you can prove you mettle, turn this competitive score into match winning, I feel Misbah is just not upto mark, he was never. At best he can come at 13/3 and play a defensive innings and save team from total embarrasement but he never took opposition by thorne , that 100 against Australia was rarely anomaly

Good to see Yasir beginning to look more comfortable. Joseph must be coming to the end of his spell by now

another chance for Misbah..is this the no. 5th chance in this innings now?

Looks like Misbah is trying to keep Yasir away from Gabriel because he's the bigger threat but is OK with letting Yasir face Joseph, who is tiring and not bowling quite as quickly.

I'd have to check to confirm but my gut tells me Yasir has faced a lot more balls from Joseph than he has from Gabriel.

Yup, Yasir has faced 5 from Gabriel and 11 from Joseph. He's happy to face Holder as well so it looks like they're just keeping Yasir away from the extra pace/bounce of Gabriel.

If WI had held on to their chances we would have been out for 200. We have to improve a lot when it comes to our batting.

Misbah averages 60 in UAE
72 in Zimbabwe
83 in WI

If Hafeez can average 50+ in UAE, I am sure Haris Sohail or Usman Saluddin can easily replace Misbah ul haq.

:))) Misbah didn't want to take strike.

oh man the misery continues.

as I keep saying a man who averages in 20s when the tough tours come he will never be missed. He can't even dominate bowling on flat roads.

Why is Misbah playing this slow right now??? He needs to attack Major Hawkeye Markhor

Thank god. Something had to give. This test was going nowhere. One of the worst innings I've ever seen. Entirely pointless. Heading nowhere.

Thank God Misbah won't get his undeserved century

he is just being usual. he still there because of no. of chances missed by WI fielders.

Misbah has taken the belief out of this team. When Sarfraz was batting it looked like we were playing to win and now it looks like we are playing for a draw while being in control of the test against a very poor Windies team.

This is one of the worst display of fielding I have ever seen. Misbah very lucky to be on the receiving end after his pathetic innings.
