Looks like both of them are going to go to stumps short of their tons. I hope they don't do a Kevinder and throw their wickets away to try and get a ton before stumps

Actually they may make it, actually another over to go.

Come on Krapich, stop hogging the strike mate. Let Dubya have a go! I want these tons out of the way so that they can concentrate on pushing on tomorrow.

And a hundred for Dubya too, gratz! This has been a great day for us. England had the morning session but we've controlled the afternoon. 9 wickets in the bank, sets up a great platform to push for a big score and hopefully only bat once and make England bat on day 5.

Come on man, you've got to hand it to Krapich. He's a total pest and every time I've seen him, he's ultra difficult to get out.

Okay, he may be unattractive for an Australian player but he gets the job done and, frankly, at the top of the innings that's all that matters. This aint T20!!

I wonder how Boycotts mum would have done against these English spinners. :))) :)))

english bowling mediocre?
on paper and present form anderson is presently one of the best swing bowlers in international cricket...broad is an extremely talented seam bowler...flintoff is the talisman,
lets see what occurs shall we but one thing for certain, i wouldnt start rubbishing the england bowling attack even before they have bowled!
What do you say now fella?told you ppl are underestimating Aus batting here.Eng bowling bar flintoff are average at best will struggle at good wickets.

Its bad times for aus ahead but I can see ponting clarke and hussy filling there boots here as Eng bowling is mediocre too. I am predicting couple of hundreds from Eng bowler one for broad and other probably for swann.

Well I warned ppl here not to underestimate Aus batting as Eng bowling is mediocre.

What a brilliant knock by both Aussie batsman today. Katich and Ponting really showed their class today. It was quite a pathetic display of bowling in the morning by the Aussies but my goodness did they make the English look mediocre with the ball.

Ponting really will go down as a legend with his unbelievable knack to score runs at will and especially in huge games.

English bowled even more mediocrily then i expected and the Aussie batters batted much much better then i expected them too. Not really sure how this Ashes will end up now, which i guess makes it a lot more exciting.

It's been a great day for us. I was most impressed with the application that our team showed after the England tail wagged for over a hundred runs. They could have let their chins drop but they got on with it and did the job. Thoroughly professional effort given the circumstances. They came out with determination and composure.

But it's only day 2 and they have to keep going. I'm hoping they can push on tomorrow, bat the Pommies into the Sophia Gardens dirt, and bat once only in the Test. I'm still concerned with the fluency of our batting attack, I think MJ and Siddle still need to find their rhythm. First get a lead, then take 10 Pom wickets. Hopefully the pitch starts crumbling around the time that the Pommies have to bat again :D

Yeh they were getting milked like heifers eh. Horroritz is shlthouse but these two aren't much better. Taking wickets against WI is not the same thing.

England bowling has been abysmal for the entire day. They couldn't even beat batsmen with fine delivery. Due to England abysmal bowling has allowed Ponting and Katich to score their fine centuries on the first test of Ashes. England bowlers will have hard time for the rest of the series.

Congratulation to Ponting and Katich for the finest partnership flooded with 2 centuries together.

Katich gets his 50 well played

i once heard Steve Waugh say that Katich had something of the Mongrel abt him - That's a kind of compliment in Australia

Therefore I can totally understand (and justify) my confusion on the punter definition - maybe its someone who takes a chance but still is bad at snowboarding - i dunno?

AND THATS LUNCH - 142/1 - Ozzy dominatrix

The punter moniker is because he enjoys having a wager, whether at a casino, on the track etc. That one of the OZ definitions for punter, because to "punt" can mean to gamble.

As for his discipline issues, he was basically a young bloke who liked going out for a drink (like most young Ozzie sportsmen). Occasionally it got the better of him and he would get himself into trouble. It all came to a head when he was suspended for getting in a fight outside a Kings Cross nightclub called the Bourbon & Beefsteak in the mid to late 90s, I forget exactly when.

(On another note the Bourbon and Beefsteak has way changed over the years, back then it was a dive but now with the gentrification of the Cross it's a bit of a glamourama place).

It wasn't a good look given that he had already been quasi-anointed as the heir apparent to Tugga at that point, but to his credit he sat down, had a good look at himself and changed his ways. In fact, shortly after that he settled down, found himself a nice girl, married her, stopped getting in trouble and that's when his career and batting REALLY took off. Prior to all that he had averaged high 40s but since then he's averaged around 60-odd.

i can see Aussies getting a decent lead and bowling England cheaply in 2nd innings

Haurritz is absolute ****! If he were Pakistani, he'd have at least 10 threads on PP dedicated to him and a size 18 Bata chappal!

WOW....why do we make every single 'spinner' look SO good?!:))

They way the Aussies batted today reminded me of the old Ashes of the early 2000s...not the way they scored but just the way they played especially in that last session...the England bowlers (bar Flintoff) were justso flat not knowing what to do at all!

I had high hopes from Anderson and Broad. They hardly ruffled the Aussies at all. I think England will have to keep Harmison in their minds if the bowlers fail to show any improvements.

They were atrocious. Although credit should be given to the batsman as well who were amazing and showed class in their shot selection. Pretty much a flat pitch but someone has to make the runs and these two seem to want more and more.

The spinners need to step up their game as well. Ponting was picking them off with ease as well. They did restrict the Run Rate a bit... but still they were mediocre.

I'm going to the ground - see if I can watch the last 30 mins from that little gap behind the River Taff End :)

I'll give you all a wave if the camera points at me :)

Not a bad spot - for free!

well averages dont lie, in your eyes bowlers who are averaging 35-40 with the bowl r better than bowlers who average 25-28, anderson and broad got wickets against poor windies opposition and u made em world beaters, u really know your stuff

These guys have fallen british media hype surrounding anderson(one of the best 3 fast bowlers in the world)broad(improving fast) but I can't understand how everyone underestimated aus batting. Ppl like ponting hussy and clarke are world class batters.

Poor Katich. Plays well and still gets flak from his own supporters!

Tell ya what, if you Aussies don't want him, then send him our way. He looks leaps and bounds ahead of Butt.

We're the best at doing that though!

Gave very good press conference - knows his limitations.

Yep you can have him - after this series....

Credit to Krapich, he has played well. And scored at a reasonable rate. Well done I guess.

Good to see James Anderson the best swing bowler in the world as a poster here put justify his rating with another stellar bowling performance.

OMG what a funny looking head he has!!

The only reason you might be thinking he has a funny head is because of his oversized hat which makes his head look small. Otherwise the picture is as normal as a picture can be and same goes for his head.

A lovely performance by him in the end and hopefully for Aussie fans he goes on to perhaps a double ton but please keep it brisk Katich. We don't want a slow boring morning.

Look at him...looks like Wolverine!!

Do you want him to be like the rest of those chest shaving, brow plucking metrosexuals in your team? :P
