England have taken 20 wickets at the Oval the last three summers. Never underestimate England at the Oval, some of our greatest successes have come there.

Yeah, if worst bowlers of world can do this, then best bowling line-up should certainly destroy opposition. Also the fact that some of the batsman are FTB.

Honestly Morgan in test matches is a disgrace and that too an imported disgrace!

ECWB will have to trawl wider to fill in their Irish quota..... :(

disgrace is an idiotic term to use. He got a very good delivery first up which could have been given not out. How many chances has Yuvraj had?

look at the cricinfo people. they need to hold on to their horses
Is there an LBW ball?
Sreesanth to Broad, 2 runs, 131.1 kph, the lbw ball, full and swinging in, Braod is caught on the crease, but the bat just comes down in time, gets an inside edge, past midwicket

How did england get on at the oval last season v Pakistan? :)

A few wickets away from winning even with your best possible performance, and we knackered you in the other three games. Memorable indeed.

So yeah I was wrong. But we beat Oz and SA there so we can beat India there.

Even a sheep is lion in its own backyard. When did you last win in the subcontinent?

Awful awful awful shot. Standard bottle job from Bell.

Consider nothing from Nass is available thought will share something from CricIndia

"Too good to not publish this. The commenter's name is Aussie full of lager. Here goes: "Come back from the pub, spent all the dole money, turn on the tele and see England is in trouble a few days after saying they were number 1. All is well in the world a few days later; England are ordinary."

And he throws it away minutes before the tea break. It's down to Nottinghamshire boys now to take England past 150.

A year ago, apart from that we've hardly played there recently, never under Flower anyway. No fair sample available.

What? A year ago? Are you sure?

Yep 2-0 in Bangladesh which doesn't really count anyway. We haven't played a proper series in the subcontinent under Andy Flower.

I am so relived we got Bell, was having a bad feeling all this time that he might make Dravids drop catch count. Phew... Still job not done. under 150 it'll be advantage India. Bumble said it'll be like this tomorrow and on day 3 also, so India should bowl 'em out for as low as possible.

English need some Irish coffees during break!

Record 9th Wicket partnership in the making.

Guys cant get to grips with the scorecard ..as I just turned on cricinfo.

Can anyone tell me if Indians bowled well or the pitch is bowler friendly and that England can do the same damage as well?

Good fightback from India. Need to close the innings under 150...

JibranAnsari's prediction of under 180 is looking distant:) ...Though he was the one who had the lowest prediction.

I think I'm going to enjoy the end of this test match and the 180 degree turn in the tone of the English PPers here

Calm down Whip. You've still got the game by it's neck

I'm not bothered about the result, always thought this is the test India would win. India could easily be 100/1 by the close, everyone is expecting Anderson to take 7 wickets but he can't bowl well every day.

More bothered about Bell's constant uselessness when he is actually required to score runs.

Looking good. Sub-continents team can perform and give england a run for their money in their own backyard. Pakistan too would have done the same last year except for pathetic fielding and some bad individuals...

Bowlers bowled good lengths, a few wides but mostly on the money, on the plus, overcast conditions at Trent Bridge.

To add to it, the pitch has grass rolled on to it, its got bounce in it, pace friendly pitch really

Still long way to go for India here...Need to wrap the tail and bat well...Atleast they are fighting here and I'm happy for that..Well done India...

Over cast conditions are enough in England to get the swing in the air and what you mentioned about the pitch, I think we're in for low scoring test match.

Usual doom-mongering in full swing on the BBC web feed. Worst coverage and most clueless 'supporters' in the history of the universe. Test Match Special is consistently excellent in comparison, so it makes no sense.

Bell is a class act. He will surely bounce back big time. You need to persist with him a little longer i guess.

if Bell & Morgan fail again in the second innings , at least one of them will be replaced for oval test ? who are they going to bring in then ?

should be a low scoring affair, but the sun is expected to be out this evening and tmrw, so technically Indians will have better conditions to play in

What about Botham? he is often known to be too critical with England's failures.

Calls are being made as we speak to the local agents in Commonwealth......

if all fails then ECWB might think of bringing in a local homegrown boy..

He's a great player coming in with a massive platform and/or on a subcontinental-style road. In the middle of a batting collapse and/or in difficult conditions he has failed time and time and time again.

There has been the odd exception to this rule, which his supporters will come out with in due course, but to them I say exceptions prove rules.

India's comeback in this match is crucial for the series...Makes a competitive series for the supporters and the game of cricket. Need some fighting play from both sides.

English bowlers too would be deadly here, hence the job is only partly done here for India.
Praveen bowled well of the lot by kept the score under pressure...Good comeback from Sreesanth into this test. Of all the bowlers, only Ishant was a little disappointing though he did take 3 wickets...

Yeah quite right, its too early to say we've come back. Surely right now we're on top but first we gotta finish this tail quickly and then get a good enough lead so yeah we're far from coming back in the series yet.

Give him sometime man...He comes in at number 5, so always you expect to resurrect the innings. He is a terrific player and will improve...

in my 20 years of watching cricket Indian batsmen/bowler always get better conditions to bat/bowl.

:))) @ Botham's England domination comment in the papers....

What is he saying now I wonder ....

Lol not always man. especially in overseas tour we often get on the wrong end, forgot centurion? Out of the 4 days played, we got to bat on the only day where it rained and troubled batsmen and lost that match.

Just woke up and saw the scoreline. I'll be honest, I didn't think India had this remotely in them. I was wrong. Good on you, my Indian brothers. Keep it up, and maybe you can have a few PP'ers grudgingly eat a little crow later.

I wont be surprised if he is heard blasting this England batting performance. He often makes OTT comments even when England fails.

Interesting analysis by Nasser Hussain on how to play swing bowling. The trick is not to play.

Also the pitch is a green top, 150 isn't a bad score first innings.

But you can't deny his class. Can you?

Just like you can't deny KP's class. This English team has the will power and talent to bounce back from any situation.

It is not actually a green top but has tinges of green all over. They said in 1980s when Hadlee/Rice were playing here in county matches, the pitch was absolutely green.

I can see this being a low scoring test match all round here. I think Anderson and bresnan will enjoy the conditions.

Ravi Bopara and James Taylor are tipped for the next batting berths.

are you saying overcast conditions don't make a difference compare to a sunny weather?

few of you said the pitch has flattened when Bell & Bresnan where buliding a partenership & India pick 2 wickets the pitch is unplayable again ...I wasnt just taking about this match or your post to be exact .

Thanks...But still long way to go brother...We need to close this innings cheaply and bat very well...

So-called class is one thing but mental strength is another. The team has it - KP has it - does Bell have it? Jury's been out since 2005 and remains out.
