India vs England | 4th Test | Nagpur | 17/12/12 | Day 5

Rubbing salt in the wounds.

Gambir bowling for the first time in Tests.

Bell and Root should just cut loose.

those who were thinking england lost to pakistan so it will b easy for india ... on ur face
every bowler doesnt have class of ajmal, rehman and hafeez

Do they have to wait another 15 minutes or so before they can shake hands?

Rameez commentary is awsome....

" i hope he was asking when will the match end not why didn't you give trott out."

What a thumping victory !! Well done team england ! Totally dominated the test series !!

So india couldnt get the 'revenge' they hoped for :)

Frankly this test shows why England will not get to No.1 status in test cricket. I remember last time Dhoni did similar in West Indies preserving the series lead and not going for an outright win in the final test. Teams need to be ruthless to be No.1 and an Aus team would have played differently today. Given India maybe 50-55 overs of pain and try getting them all out.

Your mistake is comparing us to that Australian team. Had we been 2-0 up in the series I'm sure there would have been a declaration.

Very unimpressive bowling by India.... Dhoni should say that when they had England down they again allowed them to slip through and grab the match.

Why are you comparing them to that Australian team. That team was unstoppable. Do you think South Africa would have done it any different.

Dhoni will feel under pressure now but, with T20's coming up I wouldn't be surprised if all is forgotten and India win, the fickle fans hail him and the team again.

I think so. I have found Smith to be pretty agressive captain. For eg. Declaring in the 3rd test vs England. Also here England had India on the mat and totally low on confidence. So yes Smith would have declared and given India a chase of about 300 in 50 odd overs.

First time I have ever seen Smith called aggressive captain.

I'm so proud of the boys. Nobody gave them a chance and now look! This is arguably better than the 1-3 victory in Australia.

Awesome performance from England. Indians are plumbing to new depths in test cricket. Oh well there is always IPL :P

Great victory and now England will want a revenge series against us :P :P :P while India now has two revenges to fulfill. They lost twice.

The result of the LOIs doesnt matter now. England have humiliated India. Of course, I dont think all the indian posters feel humiliated....yet :P

Congrats to Engarrlaand well done. :14:
Thoroughly deserve this series victory. Came out on top even after taking all the low blows. Every one chipped in somewhere along the line for Eng but immense respect to captain Cook who imo deserves most of the credit. Truly inspirational stuff from him.
India really need to get their act together. First of all they need to do away with all the old deadwood and blood youngsters. Secondly they need to change their crybaby attitude and harden up. Thirdly they need to replace Fletcher. Last but not least they need to step up and start performing rather than make petty excuses time after time. Given all of India's vast unmatched resources when it comes to cricket they should really be dominating the cricket world for once, at least during this period of time, not the other way around.

Yes very humiliated because first time ever a home team lost a test series lol

Ofcourse the entire meaning of the series according to media was revenge and they beat India at home. Its pretty big bcz the Tests are where you are truly put to test and tats where India lost.

Agreed. They really need to get their act together. This way another loss and India can really slip down.

Yeah India really need to step up their game. They have been seriously under-performing throughout their history but last few years they have been horrendous apart from the WC win and a solid performance here and there. No excuses these days because nothing much between the top teams on paper. So it's all about performance.

Apart form that little period between 2008 - 2011 India have never been a top team in tests. They've lost more test matches then they've won overall.

They were lucky to win in 2007. the first test at Lords they were 9 down in their 2nd innings, monty had a plumb lbw not given, then the rain came and the test was drawn. They went on to win the 4 test series 1-0.

India rather then progressing is regressing. If you cant win outside and then cant win at home either then there is something seriously wrong. Indian selectors have to grit the
I like Dhoni but such a big streak of loosing series has got to put his captaincy under question. Plus alot of players are not performing including Sachin who holds a very important position of number 3 .

Yeah changes will have to be made if they are serious about their Test cricket. :sachin bats at 4 though I don't think he has ever batted at 3 in Tests. He preferred to let Dravid and now Pujara do the hard yards :yk

Yeah I think I remember that now. It was a 3 match series though. A win for India and 2 draws.

I hope we never see another Test pitch like that one! Such a shame given how good the crowds were. Must have been 4 or 5 times the previous record for a Test crowd at this venue at least.

Looks like India were trying to avoid 3-1

More like the pitch doctors just messed it up I reckon.

I think they tried to prepare something that was just about as alien as possible compared with what the England players are used to. They certainly succeeded, but the fly in the ointment was the lack of turn. I don't believe anyone would deliberately prepare a pitch like that one. Not unless they were trying to kill off Test cricket, anyway!

I reckon they tried to create a slower version of the Ahmedabad pitch, but failed.
