England holds a commanding position in the game, having posted a total of 353 runs in the first innings. The two spinners from England have put India in a precarious situation, with the hosts struggling at 219 for 7. The partnership between Jurel and Kuldeep Yadav, worth 42 runs, has prevented the deficit from getting out of control for India. However, with a substantial cushion of 134 runs, England is optimistic about maintaining their advantage, hoping to prevent India from narrowing the deficit on the following morning.

The pitch is now favoring spinners, exhibiting turn and unpredictable bounce, making batting a challenging task. While India may feel they could have approached their innings more positively, they were also unfortunate with three LBW dismissals falling under umpire calls. Bashir emerged as the standout performer, claiming four wickets in a 31-over spell, while Hartley contributed with a couple of dismissals.

As both teams gear up for the upcoming day, the second new ball is on the horizon, promising an exciting Sunday with plenty at stake for both sides.

Jurel and Yadav on the crease and still trailing by more than 120 runs. Can they do any wonders here?

Kuldeep has seen off 106 deliveries in his innings for the addition of only 20 runs so far. Brilliant resistance by him so far.

India need to reach 300 somehow. Anderson in and will probably finish off the tail.

Kuldeep should give batting lessons to Patidar. Great fight shown by him. If Jhurel and Kuldeep see off the new ball somehow, Stokes moaning will go to another level.

This pitch does not seem to contain the demons it did last night based on the action so far this morning..

For every single run Jurels average improves by 1 point.

For every single run Kuldeeps average improves by 0.09 points.

India need 50 more runs to be back in the game. As of now, England are still 70-30 ahead.

Such a defensive field placement by agressive captain against tailenders .lol

Lol this pitch was supposed to be doing tricks but seems to have gone to slumber.
That dropped catch might cost England.
Good fightback from India though

Unreal maturity from Jurel. A keeper, literally and figuratively.

Bashir taken to cleaners this morning and has played a clinical role in reducing England's advantage. Stokes has been clueless on how to get the lower order out.

Looks like India will take a lead here.

If Jurel gets a 100, it would be one of the better 100s batting with tail mostly, and keeping India in the game.

Trigger happy umpires missed 3 plumbs when India bowled. But gave 4 umpire's calls for England. So India should whine now to get umpire's call next match

Jurel's been brilliant. Almost single-handedly turned this game into a contest again.

46 runs lead.

Could mean nothing or could mean everything based on how England bat.

Are they gonna Bazball?

Poor by ENG in my opinion, they should have ended up with a lot more than 46 run lead.

They had India on the ropes at 133/7 ? at one stage..

46 runs is handy but if there is a collapse, that might not mean much...

70-30 in favor of Eng given India needs to bat last with a newbie batting lineup.

40-50 runs are still a good one, but India dragged it enough due to brilliant knocks by their keeper to get so close.

WICKET! Jurel b Hartley 90 - India 307 all out
No maiden Test ton for Jurel. Hartley finally ends his magnificent knock and the Indian innings as he bowls the India batter.

That will be the lunch interval, with England's second innings to start in the afternoon...

The series has been a cracking one. The game has shifted so many times in all 4 tests.

It is still a good wicket to bat. England should play an attacking game and look to score 250+.

300 should be target for India.

What an inning this if from Jurel. Should have got his hundred though. He got his team out of trouble

Very impressed with jurel the batsman. Great technique and good range of shots. His keeping also has been excellent.
Overall he made a great case for himself for the future.

India aren't chasing in 4th innings.

The quantum of lead is academic. Even with parity after 1st inning, ENG would be overwhelming favorites. India needed a 100 run lead minimum to stay in the contest.

India at home are never going to make it easy. I still think 46 is a good lead for England to be honest. They need to bat well in order to set India a challenging target, but that would have been the case with any lead. If England were going to get shot out in the 3rd innings for under 100, they’d lose the momentum and then probably lose the game even being 150 ahead. So either way, England need (I reckon) 320.

Yah, unless Eng collapses, Eng should win here. India had to get some lead to balance batting last here. Batting has so many newbies. You need some experience to chase a good total.

If the pitch doesn't break any further. This can get tricky for both teams.

Definitely. INdia is too inexperienced to handle a pressure of 4th innings chase. India's 4th innings specialist Pant is also not playing.

At one stage England was set to take lead around 140 .good fightback by india.
Match is not over yet but England is still slightly favourite

Yes. England is favorite. This pitch unlike the last 2 pitches doesn't have true bounce. Some balls roll from the crack.

England needs an excess score of 300 plus to have a chance here. They are in front atm. Need to bat sensibly to win this game. No batter chance will come to win a game here.

I don't back us to chase anything over 175 on this deck.

I hope jadeja and kuldeep will start the proceedings. Otherwise rohit and dravid will think to give the ball to pacers for 12 overs and letting all the batsmen to settle.

Sir Alastair Cook, speaking on TNT Sports:

"Jurel played a masterful innings with the tail, dragging India back into this game.

"I thought more would happen this morning but the wickets seems to have settled down.

"India are going to pile everything into England now over the next couple of hours -they're hyped. Can England repel that momentum?

"If you get through that, runs suddenly become easier to score and, with a lead of 150, 160, with wickets left in hand, India will become very quiet - because they'll know ever run is crucial."

Pace from one end and spin from other. Should aid in bringing reverse early.

As much as he scored a crucial 58 in the first innings, I would still question Ollie Robinson’s selection as his fielding and particularly his bowling were pathetic. I know he has good stats, but he looks way short of the fitness standards that are required for international cricket. His new ball spell this morning was awful. Then as soon as Anderson comes on, there is more pace, more zip, every ball is bang on the money, and England take a wicket.

A lot of Indian cricket fans saying they don’t back their team to chase anything above 200 or so but why? The pitch seems to have flattened out and even Kuldeep managed to play more than a 100 balls. Surely 300+ is needed for England to have a chance here?

The three best Indian batters of this series so far have been -

Yashaswi Jaiswal (Age - 22)
Shubman Gill (Age - 24)
Dhruv Jhurel (Age -22)

People aren't realising the importance of this series with respect to the future of Indian cricket. The final score line is almost a seconds now.

Probably because they know the history of chases in 4th inning. No such thing as a flat pitch on day 4 and 5 in India.

It's quite amusing to read Indians point of view regarding this series. LOL hahah
Keep em coming( the excuses)

But let me tell you one thing sir.
These pitches were nowhere near the typical Indian pitches.
Shubman scored only on flat pitches.
As soon as ball turned, he has struggled
Yashaswi also scored both the double centuries on a flat pitches.
This pitch has doesn't have any demons as we saw with kuldeep who faced 100+ balls without any trouble.
It's just bumrah's brilliance who actually made this series a contest.

England still hold the edge, but they need a strong batting effort in this second innings to set India a stiff target to chase over the final couple of days.

Kumble: it will be very tough to hit sweeps on this pitch
Next ball duckett hits reverse sweep for four
Many people won't accept this but even legends are looking clueless with these pitches.
Because they have not produced these kinda pitches from a decade now.

Oh my... ollie pope is gone 1st ball. Ashwin has struck again. 2 down now.

England got 4 umpires calls wickets at the very least in their bowling innings. I hope revolutionary GOAT allrounder Stokes doesn't complain any more now.

Don't get what you're trying to make here..

Our young batters (all in their early 20s) have outperformed the likes of Rohit, Patidar, Bharath etc on these same so called flat wickets. It's a great sign for our Test team with so many fresh faces performing the way they are.

India can still win the match as England won't do much in this innings but I just don't get why cry and whine so much. LOL.

40 odd runs lead is huge rn even if people don’t realize it. It can be the difference in England being even more wickets down atm just due to pressure.

That lead is a small but decent enough cushion to ease nerves.

But they should have finished Indian lead sooner
