No it wasnt stupid - it was the right tactic

tuk, tuk, tuk would have gotten us nowhere - at least we have made some quick runs and he has shown that Twatson isnt invincible

There is being aggressive and then there is being stupid... sorry but he fell in the latter category for me. He needed to stay out there for as long as possible especially since we have such a long tail.

haha this is Pakistan with 2 debutants and our ''seniors'' Imran and Akmals

Zedman nobody actually cares what you say.

Oh well I knew batting wouldn't be pretty :afridi

What a terrible knock...yes we got few runs off it...but in the end did not help the team at all...this is test cricket and not T20.
Yes, this is Test Cricket where 1 (30) is better than 30 (10).

Because it is Test Cricket.

:asif

Afridi played some good shots but after his last six he should have not gone for another six off twatson which has cost him his wicket and Pakistan is in deep trouble at 117/6.

Great now aamer is OUT, MIDDLE Order has flopped. We really should have played yasir hameed instead of azhar ali.

Looks like we will bowling again this afternoon !

He was trying to put pressure on the Aussies, I dont blame him, Yeah he went one shot too many for that over, But its happened.

No offense but that was pretty stupid from Afridi, it was good that he took the attack to Australia but he has to know when to tone it down...now Aamer's out and we're a good chance of conceding a 100+ lead...he got himself in, he had gotten 14 off the over already, why couldn't he just consolidate the innings from then, it was an entertaining but idiotic innings tbh...lets hope he can do the right thing next innings.

personally, I would take Afridi's 31 off 15 balls, anyday, rather than watching our top order PROPER batters, struggle to make 6 of 40 odd balls....these 31 by Afridi might come very handy at the end....we will wait and see

Still in T20 mode :afridi

Exactly what the doctor didn't order...

Akmals probbly went to good deliveries....Afrdii should have been been more sensible and mature.... :41:In this scenario be it Vettori ,be it Dhoni be it Angelo Mathhews or even Taibu...all coming at 5 down would have patiently tried to sticch a big partnership with the opening batter still at crease at other ground :pissed: :po:

As much as I am a fan of Afridi's energy in the field and have been impressed by his attacking captaincy so far, that was a PATHETIC attempt at batting in tests!!! He had no business batting like that. And I am not buying any arguments about how his hitting gave us a boost. Please! This guy has no sense of how a test is played. You stay at the wicket and the runs will come. Test matches are a test of patience, something Pakistani players have none of. They are all hyper-excited, anxiety ridden, nervous puppies who can't hold their focus for more than 20 overs. They all seem to have ADHD. We are blowing away a perfect opportunity to finally beat Australia.

I am so freaking angry right now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

God I hope we aint gonna get a repeat of Sharjah 2002.

Were you born after 2002? Come on we folded for 50 twice in that game on a pretty decent wicket, we're not even following on here :moyo

Terrible - I agree let's just take off those 31 runs - we don't need them. ;-)

In all seriousness, it was not a "terrible" knock - but, perhaps a tad irresponsible/greedy at the end.

This was indeed a terrible knock, didnt he knew he was the last so called recognised batsman ... btw does Afridi knew he was playing a TEST match for heaven sake

Thats stupid, an innings of 31 in that situation from a specialist test batsman is not acceptable.

Meray Bhai, he is really not a specialist test batsman. The only reason he is playing test cricket is because there is no other suitable player to lead the side.

You take what he gives you. Considering how others except Salman have played, 31 is a lot of runs.

Gul Needs to stay at the crease now, rotate the strike leave the short balls, hes a professional cricketer needs to act like a professional batsmen, just give it a shot :)))

Hello fans, you're criticizing our players for not having patience. Why don't you buy some for yourselves? There are still three days after today for this match to finish!

What would the reaction be if Younis had played that innings?

So far in this test Afridi has bowled 18 balls and faced 15.

Afridi played irresponsibly but in the end number 3-6 have contributed next to nothing in this test for Pakistan.

We had an inexperienced batting line-up back then(without Moyo and Inzi)and now we are without YK and Moyo with ANOTHER inexperienced batting lineup.I'm trying to be as positive I can be but the similiarities between the two series is there to see.The only reason we are doing better this time is because we have a slightly better bowling attack and a weaker Australian team.

the two 100s in the Asia cup shows that he is hugely talented and has it in him. His defense isnt bad either when he wants. But then thats Afridi, a whole package. You have to take him as a whole

wht a bowling attack of aussiess... no need of regular spinner & we are already 7 down...

Come on guys stop blaming Afridi. If he had gotten out by defending your argument would've been, "i told you he is not a test match player" Stop bashing and start worrying about partnerships. btw I think umar akmal and kamran akmal played worst shots then afridi. The ball umar got out was nothing more then a straight delivery.

Our batting order is very weak .....

Call yousuf and younis for the next match

Akmals were the real let downs so far...We knew farhat is useless and we couldnt have expected too much from the two debutees, although it would have been nice if they scored a few more.. But junior's dismissal was absolutely needless, dont know what he was trying to do with his going down the track to twatson...He did it from the very first ball so it wasn't as if he was doing it to negate any swing....

Senior needs to play positively, all his big match winning/saving scores have been when he has been counter attacking...

I think it would be a very brave effort if we make it to 200. Either way, we will be chasing 375+ on day 4

umar gul is trying to fight it out ! shame on batsmen !

Shame on batsmen? They've faced some brilliant bowling, give the Aussies some credit.

I miss those days when we used to score 600 in a Test innings

Afridi's 31 runs may come handy in the match. You are right Akmal brothers played bad shots and got out. We all know Afridi cannot play tuk tuk innings. But in this innings he went after the ball like it was T20. He will hot 4 and sixes in his tet inning but he just needs to be more responsible and not try to hit out every single ball. As a captain he needs to show some responsibility.

Butt shouldnt take a single so early in the innings, these tailenders are really sh*t

And what do you think is gona happen in those 3 days? Magically all our batsmen will become responsible overnight? Its a mindset and it won't change anytime soon. Next 3 days will most likely be more of the same. And the fans don't get paid to be patient, these professional players do.

Kamran Akmal didn't actually play a shot at all.

Not excusing the top order batsmen, but its sad to see the way tail is playing. Gul is having trouble even putting bat to ball.
