we were going nowhere at 70-4, at least he's given us a bit of a boost. if he had been defending, we probably would have got nowhere, he would have been out with a good delievery like all the others

What a terrible knock...yes we got few runs off it...but in the end did not help the team at all...this is test cricket and not T20.

No it wasnt stupid - it was the right tactic

tuk, tuk, tuk would have gotten us nowhere - at least we have made some quick runs and he has shown that Twatson isnt invincible
 
No matter what, that could well be the most crucial innings of the match

Terrible - I agree let's just take off those 31 runs - we don't need them. ;-)

In all seriousness, it was not a "terrible" knock - but, perhaps a tad irresponsible/greedy at the end.
 
Good for afridi to be positive ........but too many aerial shots.......this is not t20
 
if only some players could control their egos! lets aim for 200 if nothing else

Well, he's our second best batsman today uptil now
 
definite batting sense ....yet aggression now in need from Butt...bat with the tail...play bad balls, but be aggressive at the same time....time to knock around is over now...guys get ready for some scoring shots now....as we will not be playing tuk tuk anymore...
 
I guess this is what Ponting meant we had sorted him out. Aus had probably guessed he is trying to hit out and 9 times out of 10 it does not work in test matches like in T20. Umar Akmal flopped , kamran flopped and at 5 wickets dwon..it needed a responsibile innings from captain somethnig like what Vettori or Dhoni plays and Afridi ............................... :pissed:

It was Twatson who had the last laugh. We played into his hand. No excuse for this.

The people who are saying 200.......dream on. Aamer, Gul, Asi and Kaneria for god sake.

Just think of the 2nd innings chasing 450. And Farhat, Ali and Amin in top four. Followed by the Brains of Umar and Afridi. We are sooooooo rubbish.
 
Fielding practice, Amir gone. Why do all the batsmen apart from Butt and Afridi look scared of the ball? It's not doing that much.

exactly....he can be out on 1st ball while defencing....its better to have some runs ...
 
A wonderfully responsible innings by the captain. The others should learn from this.

I don't care now whether we win or lose, I've seen Afridi hit TWO sixes!!!

urmm Salman Butt has played beautifully and has scored at a healthy rate - I think he's been brave enough!
 
Its as if Afridi was sick of the whole situation and just went out there and tried to beat the living hell out of Watson. Should have controlled himself after the mid-off was pushed back
 
Look, I dont disagree with what afridi did, He was trying to knock the pressure of, Yes he did go for one shot too many, But no one was complaining when he was there.

Agreed...sould say more irresponsible....then terrible...still he should have used his brain a bit more...he had already scored enough runs in that over...why go after every single ball.
 
well played Afridi. 31 runs aren't bad and i am pretty sure he will play with much more sense in next inning.

Aamer gone.................pakistan 7 down.......... and thats why afridi (or someone else) should have stayed..........
