Both openers gone ... but they did give us 60 runs we weren't expecting and played out 30+ overs so still not too bad.
OK bad now!!! :moyo

How did I know that the middle order was gonna collapse since the openers got a start. Pakistan Cricket follows a very simple equation.

ARE YOU SERIOUS!?

WTH is this!? We get a 50/0 start, and then both the openers blow themselves up and them Moyo comes in and bombs out for the first ball! UNfrikkingBELIEVABLE!
Welcome to Pak cricket, predictably unpredictable.

This is ridiculous, Akmal doesn't look comfy. Hope he stays there, Where is Milkman?
Has all of sudden Akmal lost how to bat?
I think he may be trying to show the seniors that he is not happy to be made the qurbani ka bakra and forced to bat #3 when Malik and Moyo have done it quite well in the past.

That is exactly my point. Why did they send him at #3? Why didn't they send Milkman at # 3. But I am sure he will be ok

SHOT!

I guess Misbah's new plan is.. to smash it around like he did in 2007.

this is what happens in PAK cricket:
-if openers plays well, middle order collapse
-if middle order play well, then the lower order collapse
-if bowling does well, batting does worse
-if the target is under 100-200, batting order usually collapse

SIX by Misbah ... where did that come from?
trying to release pressure.

How Butt got out reminded me of the out in SL where Pak collapse started. I hope it is different this time.

Waqar not happy with Umer at no 3. We already destroyed Alam and now its Umer.

Holy smokes.

Heart in mouth moment when he lifted his bat.

Heck of a shot though.

hey guys just woke up and saw another pakistan collapse... is this wicket doing a lot? or just bad batting

Captain shouldn't mess with the batting order. Especially with our brightest star Omar Akmal
They don't mess with batting order do they? Yousaf misbah and malik batting at their normal batting positions 4,5,6.

Ineresting observation. But why with the youngest and the brightest of them all?

Still can't believe they thrust a rookle in at #3. The "seniors" ought to be shamed. Umar is a perfect #5.

Enthralling session

In their defence, Butt and Farhat played quite well before they both got out. Yousuf had a rare failure but these last two have hung in there

NZ have the advantage but there are still four days and a session to go, weather permitting

Go tell them man. None of the so called seniors had the guts to come at # 3, so they send OA.

Butt and Farhat suck. The scored their average and got out. Nothing good about them

i expected us to be in this position at tea. However I would've expected single digit scores from our openers and 30 odd from Umar and Misbah. But they're at the crease now and all is well. Just stay there. please.

today's opening partnership was the best I've seen in a while. they were decent by our standards. Butt threw his wicket away and Farhat got worked over by a clever Vettori

To be fair the openers did the job which is to take the shine of the ball

normal as usual

Current partnership 24 runs, 4.3 overs, RR: 5.33 (Misbah-ul-Haq 8, Umar Akmal 16)

this partnership is very important

Openers did a good job, but lost the patience game. Butt should not have gone for that pull. And I had my heart in my mouth, seeing Vetori bowl to Imran, because I was expecting a bad shot from him, and that is what we got.

Imran really needs to grow a brain. Loosing Butt, with half an hour to go for tea, he should have said to himself, I am dropping anchor and seeing us through. Instead, he probably said to himself, I have done well the past 2½ hours, and will look to score.

Test cricket is about partnerships. We had one good partnership, and then 3 quick wickets just undid all that good work.

True. So I guess we should keep the safarishi in the team to score 29 and 3o, Wow our standard has really gone down. They both don't deserve a place in the team, Period.

The tea break came at the right time. Umar is gaining some confidence and should get his nerves under control during the break. And someone get Malik out of the closet.......

We can't keep flying in new players. Yes, Farhat should never have been selected but he did a reasonably good job today. Far from ideal, but better than what most other openers we've tried and tested over the past few years might have been able to do

I do agree with you to some extent. But Imran Farhat needs to be out of team forever. There are zillions of players much better than iDamaad. As I said they will score their average once in a while and get out. Today was their average day:) that's all

30 runs in 20 overs?! ...yea they did a nice job........:inti

This is a test match. The rate at which runs are scored doesn't matter at the moment, and the opening stand was 60, which is two third of the runs we have right now
