So, the race is on to get a 5-0 result and the top spot in ODI rankings.

But there are reports that Nawaz and Fakhar are both injured - so what happens now?

As per reports:

Usama Mir might be given another opportunity to play in the ongoing series against the Kiwis. He is likely to take the place of Mohammad Nawaz, who sustained a finger injury during the last ODI and is almost certain to miss out.

Additionally, Fakhar Zaman, who is experiencing back pain, may be rested to allow for Shan Masood to join the team.

Abdullah Shafique's underwhelming performance in the two ODIs could also result in Iftikhar Ahmed being given an opportunity in the fourth ODI.

Haris Rauf might be included in the playing XI in place of Naseem Shah, who has been the standout performer among the Pakistani pacers and could potentially be given a rest.

Amazing how Rizwan is never rested regardless of the millions of pains he displays during matches but guys like Fakhar are rested for the smallest of niggles

After taking an unassailable 3-0 lead in the five-match series against New Zealand, Pakistan are within touching distance of the top spot in the MRF Tyres ICC Men’s ODI Team Rankings.

Men's ODI Team Rankings
Pakistan have dominated the series, chasing challenging totals in the first two ODIs and then defending a similar target in the third game.

After opting to bowl in the first ODI, Pakistan were set a tricky target of 289, which they chased comfortably with the help of Fakhar Zaman’s century and useful contributions from Imam-ul-Haq and Babar Azam.

In the next match, they had a monumental task of chasing down 337, but the unflappable Fakhar was at it again with another huge hundred, this time with the aid of Babar and Mohammad Rizwan.

Pakistan’s strength has been their top order, which once again delivered in the third match, posting 287/6 in Karachi and then defended the total, bowling out the visitors for 261 in under 50 overs.

Pakistan were fifth on the ODI rankings before the series started with a rating of 106 but now have jumped to the third with a fantastic performance at home. Meanwhile, New Zealand, who were second, have slipped down to the fifth spot.

Currently, on the third spot with a rating of 112, Pakistan are only marginally behind Australia (113.286) and India (112.638). Should they win the fourth ODI today, they will go to the top with a rating of 113.483, with Australia dropping to No.2 and India to No.3.

However, to remain on top, Pakistan will have to ensure a clean sweep, winning the fifth and final ODI on Sunday, 7 May. A loss in the final ODI will see them slipping back to No.3 and Australia reclaiming their No.1 ranking.

Pakistan will also remain on top if they win the fourth ODI and the fifth match is abandoned or yields a no-result.

With three back-to-back losses, New Zealand’s chances have taken a hit and they are out of the race for the top spot. Currently at No.5 with 108 rating, the highest position the Black Caps can reach is No.3 if they manage to win the last two ODIs.

Schedule:

5 May – Fourth ODI, Karachi – 3:30PM local time

7 May – Fifth ODI, Karachi – 3:30PM local time

Depends on the player.

If Fakhar says he's unfit to play then that that's it.

Mohammad Nawaz is unavailable for this game as he continues to recover from an index finger injury in his bowling hand.

I'll give the bench a chance, and play this team:
Fakhar
Shan
Babar
Shafique
Haris
Rizwan
A salman
M Wasim
Ihsanullah
N Shah
Usama Mir

And Riz is at number 4.

New Zealand have won the toss and elected to bowl first in the 4th ODI against Pakistan.

Pakistan make five changes and NZ make three.

I wonder why Imam has been dropped? Oh great Shan is back. Good to see Haris back. Insanullah deserves a much hopefully next game

Lol so Imam is dropped after saying we don’t need to experiment :))

Boy there are levels of being Babar’s friends

Imam is Tier 2. Rizwan and Shaheen Tier 1!

The same guys Imam named in his interview are rested whilst the ones he said we shouldn’t play are selected!

This has to be Mickey laying down the law! Although Rizwan getting to bat at 4 having cried about it is a farce I recon

Just imagine Shan scores a 170 odd today?! Imagine!!

In summary

In:
Shan Masood
Iftikhar Ahmed
Mohammad Haris
Usama Mir
Haris Rauf

Out:
Imam-ul-Haq
Abdullah Shafique
Mohammad Nawaz
Shadab Khan
Naseem Shah

Mr. Zero talent will fail. He was born to fail in international cricket.

Without a doubt he is zero talent but he is the Brian Lara of Div 2 county. This bowling attack by NZ is slightly above that standard and if he gets a road, he will cash in at some point

I am team Shan today

Gwan big man, get that ODI double ton you are destined for!!!

I like the idea of experimenting Harris at no.6 as a finisher. Not a bad move.

So, Imam "We're not gonna experiment" ul Haq has been rested for this one? Good! He talks way too much.

lovely shot Shanny boy

Im telling you this guy has a big hundred in him

Be brave Shan! hit over the top! show us why you should be opening ahead of Imam!

Btw.. Naseem should play today... He isp just out of the world in previous matches..

One boundary and then 5 dots

come on Shanny boy!

OK Imam story changed now

Urooj on TV just said that Imam has been rested due to rotation policy, he has no injury!

Fakhar come on man! Shan is hot on your heels now!

Fakhar gone again with the same shot

This is the problem with him.

He is not consistent. He cannot look to be scoring 150 in every game in that way - has to be some planning.

In the top 3 its him or nothing. He has to bat in that fashion. Starting with 20 of 35, wont work in the WC.

If he is back in the pavilion with 14 off 5 balls then he is also no good to us.

This is where his experience must count.

How was that Out? He was on the line or does he have to be behind the line for it to be Not Out?

He needs to give himself time . Which he has been doing . I think the last two innings and modes of dismissals is down to overconfidence.

wrong decision.Batsmen should be given benefit of the doubt,There was a slight part behind the line.

Rizwan needing a 5 minute break every 5 minutes!

Keep running by hitting the ball right into the fielders hands! this isnt T20 cricket!

Rizwan's game is to pinch singles, pretty obvious. Try that with SENA teams and they wont let you get away with it all the time

Why salman agha is preferred up in batting order instead of iftikhar is beyond logic
